Adding Jebao PP-8 | Reef Tank

In this video i do a product box opening of the new Jebao pp-8 wave makers. I go step by step on how to add two of them to your reef tank along with setup and programming. The Jebao pp-8 are the same as the Jebao RW-8 but with a new magnet suction that doesn't break down over time in the tank along with its ability to hold on thicker glass. The reef currently has two wp40s connected to the apex and two pp8s for a grand total of 11,200gph at max. Please Subscribe to be notified of future videos. I enjoy making these videos and hope they will provide helpful information to better guide hobbyist. Everything you see on this channel will be my personal way of doing it. Please Enjoy and any feedback is welcomed. 125 Gallon Reef Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlyrWzDlRs-qZiboMWjYNtQNMLlxiHhVF Zeovit Tank Build Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlyrWzDlRs-rtT_B_gLcyWBWUdbvlBgEJ How To Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlyrWzDlRs-qTgkRrs5wrIE086wL9Gikd Follow me on Aquatic Log: http://www.aquaticlog.com/users/hexdex Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Fish-Of-Hex-389648551215254 Twitter: https://twitter.com/FishOfHex Intro: https://flixpress.com End Thumbnail: http://pizap.com Music: Epic - http://www.bensound.com

Jebao make some good stuff and they have proven pretty reliable. I've got vortechs and radions, you think you're paying insane prices for quality but they still fail.

How would these do in a 50gallon breeder? I'm running 2 koralias right now and feel like I need more flow.

two should be enough

Great videos FishOfHex! I have a question, I just acquired a 48x24x16 rimless tank. Would two PP8s in opposite sides of the tank be enough flow? I also plan on getting the Apex module.

yea that should be plenty. Check out my jebao to apex video on setup and programming.

You know if you can run a pp8 and pp4 using master as one and other slave? I have a pp8, darn thing is strong in my 60 and was gonna get another but a pp4 would probably be prefect addition. Nice tank btw!

I believe the wp series is the one you can link. As for if you can mix i have no idea. Mine are controlled by the apex

I noticed that the slave one does not turn into night mode when the master does at night. Is that correct or did I not do something right?
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 4 years ago
Mine did the same thing. Im not sure whats wrong.. i currently have all my pump controlled by the apex so its no longer a problem.

Been thinking about ordering a couple of these pumps/wave-makers. But I am worry that the water will splash over the tank and onto my floor. Does that every happen? and If so and If I lower the setting, will it be good enough water movement at low setting?
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 4 years ago
You can adjust the flow plus you would have to go out of your way to move enough water to splash out of a tank.

i just bought the PP-20 and my lord it did shake my 120 5ft long gallon tank. cichlids were like WTF lol! i had to return and get this PP-8. my glass is almost half inch thick and the magnet is very strong.
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 4 years ago
Yea that magnet is strong for being so small im glad they fit the 125 gallon tanks
MrAt0g
MrAt0g - 4 years ago
Q: how thick is the rear pane of glass? Do you think the magnets are strong enough for 15mm?
MrAt0g
MrAt0g - 4 years ago
Thanks - I'm going to try them out!

The glass is 1/2 inch thick and holds with no issues

Would you recommended two Jebao pp 8 in 126g reef tank?
Marcos S
Marcos S - 4 years ago
I know the question was for the video maker, but I would not recommend two. I have a 100G Red Sea and use two in it. They both run at 100%, but I have dead spots in certain areas; more than in a tank where I run an MP10/MP40. I am going to get another two PP4 to cover the dead spots in the floor.
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 5 years ago
+Jaime Jimmy I don't think that would be enough flow. Definitely not for sps. I would go with two wp40s

I have a 60 gallon cube with one ecotech mp40 on the right and a mp10 on the left. I am looking to add one or two pumps on the back wall because there is no flow. Would this be a good match? If so should i get one or two?
thomas hudson
thomas hudson - 5 years ago
Awesome thanks for the quick reply! I tried putting two mp10s on the back but the magnets were not strong enough.
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 5 years ago
Two of these would be perfect for the back wall and for a future tank upgrade.

FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 5 years ago
Only difference is jebao says the magnet mount on the pp is stronger. Thats all i was able to find for the difference.

ended up going with 1 PP8 and 1 PP4. Just the PP8 alone would have been plenty but i wanted to have two pointing at each other so i got one big and one small. good so far, but took a while to position them to not have my sand blow all over. With those two 40s you have with them, there must be crazy flow in there.
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 5 years ago
+Lisa DeMayo Yea but i run bare bottom tank so i can have as much flow as i want only problem i have now is it moves the corals around on the bottom of the tank haha. Plus with the apex controlling all 4 i can really add surge waves and different flow patterns during the day and night. Im very happy with the Jebao wave pumps atm, I used to have MP 60s but these move more water its kinda crazy.

hello FishoHex- would one of these be enough for a 75 gallon reef? i'm on a budget!
FishOfHex
FishOfHex - 5 years ago
+Lisa DeMayo I would say go with one MP 40 that would be the best for the lowest amount of money. Let me know what you end up going with.
