CREE LED powered reef tank with dimmers

finally got the CREE led modules in. these are the eshine units with dimmers. 60W per unit with 3W LEDs. This is the back view of the tank which is built into the wall. check my other vids for front view. Tank is now 7mth old. in this vid lights are running at 50% blue & white.

Thanks for the reply.am running a fowlr tank.think this might be to much light.I gave 2 blue 2 white that run across the whole tank.

then just go from there. So to answer your question they run much cooler than T5s. not to mention a much higher light intensity and they also give shimmering effect like halides do.

Hi in the set up you see here I mounted the 2 modules to the top side luckily i had just enough height for even distribution of the light as the tank is built into the wall so i had limited space to work with. These modules actually have 2 fans built into them and are triggered thermally. The actual LEDs do get warm, but they are mounted onto a very large heatsink in the module to keep them cool. So the fans are never have to be triggered. I recommend get a made up unit for your tank and

Hey I have a canopy on top of my tank.I run a 72 bow front fowlr tank.I was looking for a way to add leds.it seems u have them mounted to the top of your canopy.is there any fans or holes cut into the top of your canopy for circulation.do leds get hot like the t5

Hi This tank is changed now. But best settings for me was equal white and blue. I set mine on absolute minimum and the lights only sit a short distance from the tank itself. If i have it on anyhigher the algea grows faster too. thanx

What are the best settings? Both controls (white and blue) on maximum?

@1i11i1 hi, yes we do like them they are fantastic. pretty close to halides in terms of brightness but no heat what soever and use 1/5th of powercompared to halides. ours is 200L 4 foot tank so 2 units enough for us

Do you like these lights? what size is your tank? thinking about purchasing 2 of these for my 75 gallon? are they bright lights?

@MASTERSURGEON04 they are 3W LED by CREE. I baught these off Ebay but they are hard to find. Cost $500AUD per unit.

hay there looks great i have myself just upgraded to cree leds just a few questions for you how high of the tank have you put them,how many hours a day do you run them for and whats your blue to white ratio. many thanx daz..
