This is a time lapse of my 2 year old reef tank. I had my ups and downs, as you can see but I really enjoyed it so far and don't regret getting it at all. I have lots of more improvements I want to make next year. More corals, getting finally some metal halides and so on. Check out some of my pictures on "mr-dan.smugmug" (plus the usual extension). I currently have: 5 cromies, 3 lyretail anthias, half black angelfish, lamark angelfish, royal gramma, montipora coral, acropora, birds nest coral, fire shrimp, cleaner shrimp, Fiji seastar, crabs and snails.

yea emerald crabs really dont have a big impact on bubble algae, and you have to be carefully not to get the emeralds with the hugh claws as they tend to eat things like zoas. i only had a couple od small spots of red bubble algae, i bought myself a brown sailfin tang and the first thing he done was eat the lot! he loves buble aglae and ate it within a couple of hours. seriously be carefull of over feeding!

Dont you do research? i cant believe you waited that long to get some emerald crabs (you got like 2-3 right, they do well even w/o bubble algae to eat) and tangs are herbivores, corals are technically animals/inverts so it shouldnt have been a problem if you feed it enough (as a side note that tang is the way wrong one for a tank that small. looks like a naso tang and they need 150-200 gallons being an active fish that can get 18 inches long)

you probably have poor water quality. make sure you are using R/O DI water only. the only thing in your tank that eats bubble algae is that emerald crab. you should get another one and stop adding so much fish its just making it worse cuz theyre excreting more waste. scrub off that bubble algae and make sure you take what you scrape out of the tank so you dont just spread it around and make it worse. also i would suggest a carbon/gfo reactor. hope this helps and good luck with your tank.

You should have ran your skimmer a little wetter to lower nitrates and a GFO reactor to lower PO4. That would have went a long way in your fight with the algea. Good Luck With It, and Happy Reefing

@Dan98943 thank you for your kindness mate to answer my question. Here in my city I can only gen Red Sea PRO salt and Aquamedic Reef salt.....do you know anything about this ?

@andyITA I think the bubble algae invasion was just because of having too many nutrients in the tank. Everything that reduces it will help. Things that help are: 1) A refugium, 2) Use PhosGuard regularly, 3) make sure skimmer runs efficiently 4) Have a good cleanup crew (crabs, snails, urchin, Tang, ...) 5) Good circulation 6) Regular water changes 7) Apparently good salt, I'm currently trying Marine Pro which everyone raves about. Since then I only have a few bubbles here and there.

@calbileo Yes it was! Yes, now I know :) I since bought a Kole Tang which is supposed to be one of the most reef safe Tangs and he is not attacking any coral. He also seems to be ok in my 75g tank. I would recommend at least a 100g for a Powder Brown Tang. But I loved the Powder Brown Tang. Great fish if you don't have any soft corals and a big tank.

@rocklord423 Well, I was stupid. I had a piece of wood which I always wedged in at the top of the water level so that the fish food would not get sucked into the overflow. I didn't think about the fact that the glass would eventually give in. After a couple of month doing it the glass broke.
