You said he's doing 20g water change every. I do 20% water change in my Red Sea Reefer 350 every week although my parameters are ok, now I was thinking not to do water change until my phosphate and nitrates go a little above 0, some said it's good to have a little phosphate and nitrates, I have mix corals, any suggestions and tip pls. if your system is not generating nitrates then you already must have good nutrient export methods in order, if your tank is fairly mature & your ontop of your 2 part dosing "if its a reef" me personally i would do 25-30% every 2 weeks just too replenish trace elements.

Nitrates and phosphates are generally always present in your tank even if undetectable by your test kits because of the biological processes in your tank that are constantly at work, breaking down waste. I would advise that you keep up with your regular water change schedule to ensure the waste parameters stay within a manageable range which helps avoid nuisance algae.

I really think its more to do with the scape, coral placement, and preference.

The Gyre pushes flow from the left side across the rock work and the MP40 eliminates some dead spots on the other side of my overflow. The Gyre then pulls it all back across the zoas and lps.

I have another MP40 as a backup and I may put that one on the back wall on the left side... just haven't done it yet. There is always something on the list.

+Cody Bean well most people put them on the sides of their tanks. Companies do that for demonstrations. But they belong on the back.

+texmsmrfc I realized what you mean now about the HOB skimmer as another person asked me the same question. The first tank shown during the intro is the tank at the MD facility. It also has the new AP700 LED light from Kessil.

What kind of light is that in the refugium? I haven't heard about using a red spectrum to get more growth out of the macro algae.

+Worldwide Ticketcraft I believe the bulb is designed for use growing plants indoors. Red and Blue colored light are the most efficient spectrum to promote photosynthesis within plants.
