I need help..My leather toadstool started showing white spots on top.. Its about a year old. dipped in iodine but now the whole thing is white.so I purchased coral RX and dipped but nothing.place in a 10 gallon quarantined tank with a power head..Still nothing after 3 days.Can I just cut off the top portion and hopefully save it..All my other softies are doing great.

915Mang No red bugs..so you recommend I just place in back in the original DST and leave it alone..I will clean out my HOB filter as well and do a 5 gallon h20 change..But if it doesn't respond fragging the top off is it the best option.

Leathers are pretty tough corals. They will cut/frag themselves. Tyr a turkey baster to blast some of the white stuff off. Im not sure if its slim or not. As long as its not red bugs on it.

Wait a sec, Leather coral (Sarcophyton) is soft coral. Not LPS. It has no calcium skeleton.

+william wulffleff Just run your usual amount of carbon. I know they throw out toxins. Is your leather attached to the rock? Mine was fragging itself for a while, glad it finally decided to stop.

Hey man this is quite good but your leather is not a LPS (long polyp Stony) Its a soft coral it does not have a skeleton.

Nice man I picked one up this week I guess he already fragged except he just cut it off and gave it to me he said use super glue tried that then I think one of my hermit crabs got to the glue cause its not glued anymore

Did you end up using a rubber band? The frag will grow its own stalk in no time! Ive never tried super glue, but not the first time ive heard it. Thanks for watching and the SUB!

i have the blue, red, superman, and green elephant ear, my blue wont stick and my elephant is the one that split, i was only able to catch a piece and saw the other pieces float away somewhere in the rock

Thanks Juan, I tyed super glue once, didnt work out for me, I had to put them in super low flow, shot glasses work for mushrooms. But 4 mushrooms is sweet!

Its pretty easy, Just leave it on for about 2 weeks. Its crazy how fast they start to grow stalks!
