Hanna has an ultra low resoulution phosphorous checker that’s results can be converted into total phosphates with some simple math. Much more accurate at low levels

I have the same problem as you, but with green hair algae. Phosphate are at 0, Nitrates are at 10ppm everything else are good. The only thing is a nutrient problem, so I am cutting back on the feeding. I am running GFO and Carbon reactors. I have deployed extra Margarita and Astrea snails which love green hair algae. So right now I have a snail tank.. hehe

How about how much of a water changes do you have to do and when to do a water changes and how to know how much water to take out of your aquarium something like a step by step video for the new comers to saltwater. That's can be your next video

And thanks for this video it helps a lot. I check my 38 gallon aquarium every weekend and everything said it's good so I do a 10 gallon water changes about 1 a month but I'm going to a 55 gallon aquarium soon and it scares me because I would like to have corals in my news aquarium and to thank it might be more maintenance and changes how often I need to do water changes

Great video! I would definitely get the ULR hanna checker. I would also use the same vile for both your c1 and c2 readings. Glass is tinted and even a small difference can be picked up by the checker. May not be a difference maker for you but it is what Hanna recommends. Keep the great content coming!

I do 20% water change every week and test params weekly as well and always show 0ppm for phos. How do I allow for my tank to gain some phosphates? Skip a weekly water change or maybe feed more? BTW I use no filtration, my tank is a cube14 mixed reef.
Lunar Mike
Lunar Mike - 6 years ago
Matthew Shermoen I have a NUVO 16, everyother week is probably better for smaller tanks and what I do. Test your water in between water changes the first few times so you get an idea how the water is. 2-3 gallons on a 14 should be fine fine. I noticed my corals don't like a 5 gallon water change
