that sudden white cloud is normally a spike in beneficial bacteria. carbon sources can influence this. normally goes a way on its own i cycle new tanks with carbon and this is what happens. if you have an orp meter the numbers are probably high.

I have cloudy water right now and I know what it's from, my diamond goby that i acquired 2 days ago is sifting the sand like a mad man and is clouding the tank, the sediment I have is not the type that is not supposed to be light, it's a heavier sediment so I was told.....but anyways I was wondering what should I do?

you may have been told the tank cycling basiclaly this means its going thorugh a stage where the elements in the tank water have to balance out the bacteria good! has to populise the the tank the water may be cloudy 1 day orclear the next then cloudyas there can be bactarila blooms caused by the tanks elements, lighting, stock or other influences, if you are very addimant you want clear water you can buy additves but this slows the cycle what you need to do is be patien the tank will clear

Hi, my water is cloudy and I started up a tank a couple days ago, yesterday the water was pretty clear but now it became cloudy again in the past few hours. I have no fish in my tank, only one hitchhiker hermit crab. So please, what can I do to make the cloudiness go away? I also have around 50-60 gallons of filtration, I have a 29 gallon tank... thanks.
