This video will show you step by step how to setup a saltwater fish tank. If you are a beginner and are looking for a little help this is the video for you. I have a separate video that shows you how to mix Aquarium saltwater. Click on the link below. Do you want ATM Colony for your tank? And I didnt see you add salt?
Do I plan on making a salt water tank? No
Why am I watching this video? I don't know
Maybe I'm not ready for saltwater if I can't think to use tape. Lol!
Play sand is risky in that sense

say if i were to set up my tank exactly like yours, and added Clow Fish. would I be able to add some anemones by individually? or would I need to create an entire coral system? and I never knew what a sump is, so that question is answered. so would I be good with a heater, a canister filter, powerheads, and a skimmer, as far as equpiment goes?
Ive kept reefs for 12 months now in a 10gal tank and run an internal skimmer and live rock and sand. And have been successful.
But my next task ive converted my Fluval Roma125 to a reef setup, This time I have not used Live rock or live sand.
I have used Dry Marco rock and got plenty of time for the nitrogen cycle to cycle.
I am using a All pond solutions EF2+UV canister filter and the pre booster filter. Unfortunately can not run a sump.
Currently all my parametres are good, but there is nothing yet live in the tank.
My Questions
Would it be advisable to use a nitrifying bacteria starter. I.E Fluval Cycle , API Quickstart or ATM Colony? and which one?
And what media should I use in my Canister filter for my Biological filtration, I know canisters are prone to be nitrate factories but its my only option.
Many thanks.
and what lights should I be using?
I plan to have zoas and clown fish with anemones.
Thanks! I'm trying to start up my own 90g saltwater tank
Will be very exciting!
is getting a small tank for practice and just to get the gears going on this new hobby worth it?? so far the issue seems to be water stability with a smaller tank that I'd have to worry about.
i have a cold water tank and a tropical but realy want a marine tank next but i dont understand how to make the tank okay for them maby i missed somthing in the video
If anything, I'd say, 1. you must find a way to keep the water in the proper temperature range and 2. you must implement some way to keep nutrients under control. Those are about the only absolutes in terms of water quality.
Just to get 2 questions answered quick, I see A LOT of videos that make coral care seem very hard and make me believe I need all this extra stuff to care for them, I know I need to feed them a little every few days but do I need all these extra things many videos claim I need like calcium additives?
The second question requires more details like what corals you keep etc. I'm doing a live stream on Sunday 24-4-16 at 6pm UK time. if you ask me the question during that I'll be able to explain a lot better.
Tap water can have some additives to it so its not always the best idea.
I'd normally offer my help but as you have attacked me from the outset I'd prefer to dedicate my time to others. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Thanks again!
I'm new to this. But I just don't want to do water changes often.
What kind of things would I need to add back into the tank?
Alright cool, thanks
does the product u use help when its not pre mix water?
please help
I now run a Sump, Canister Filter & Skimmer on my system.
how long do you leave the lights on for? hoping to get corals in my tank but not sure if they need light on at night?

The way I'd do it is to add your fish right away with a bottle of ATM Colony. Inside the bottle is the nitrifying bacteria needed to take care of the fishes waste.
Thanks . Two thumbs up
However what water do you put into the tank? is it just from a household tap?
Also do i need to use live rock? as i've got a lot of ocean rock which i would like to use?
It has been running for 3 days already
I used live rock and coral sand so how long do I need to wait to put fish in the tank
It's missing the salt input?
Where do I start with the water? Do I put tap water in? Dechlorinate? Then add salt?
Please do a water vis.
My question is can a 240/250 litre (50/55 gallon tank go in an upstairs for. Can the floorboards take the weight.
Would be grateful if you have had any experience or knowledge of tanks of that weight going upstairs
And thanks for info on the eel. I was expecting that but just wanted to be sure. Be nice to have one but not in a tank to small or at expense of other fish
You can get a small snowflake but I think it will out grow thay size tank. Also anything it can get in its mouth it may eat.
My other question is about fish. Could a snowflake eel fit in a tank that size and be safe around other fish
We bought and RO for our saltwater tank, and the TDS level is zero but what I don't understand is we did a water test on the RO water and the alkalinity and ph reading were zero alkalinity and 6.2 for ph I know you cant put the fish in that, do those readings change once we put the salt in? Thank You. DOM
