Thank you! Sorry I didn't say it in my comment before but I would like a refugium next to the sump with the protein skimmer. I would like to have both and not just one or the other. Is there anyway to make that work?

In that case it may be best to choose a different sump that offers a setup like that and use it rather than the included one. Incorporating an additional sump next to an existing one starts to get tricky with developing ways to balance the water volume between them, such as drilling them for bulkheads and plumbing them together or relying on a feed pump that feeds the second sump (which ultimately would lead to some sort of issue on a long enough timeline).

Is there anyway to set up a refugium? I would like to have one but do not know how to install and if one is needed. Will it help keep good nutrients in my aquarium? Another reason why I am asking is because I would like to get a ruby red dragonet. Supposedly refugiums help with copapods which they eat. I love your informative and detailed videos! Thanks you for listening! Please reply and keep making great videos!

In this video you don't mention doing a 100% water change after putting in the reefsaver rock,sand and the Dr. Tims and letting it sit for a month. However on your website it is advised. I am setting up a brand new red sea 350 with reefsaver rock. Kinda hate to discard 80 gallons of water if its not necessary,.

Hmm... I'm not sure where you saw that specifically about Reef Saver rock and cycling the tank, but I'd say that it is not always applicable and there has been many reefers who've successfully setup a tank without 100% water change after the cycle.

Unfortunately this tank was simply pieced together for video purposes and the VorTechs weren't really strategically placed for longevity on this Reefer 250. Each tank and tank type will be different in terms of placement and flow needs, so it's best to play around a bit to find the ideal location for the pumps and intensity settings.

A single Radion could likely support many tank types (softie, LPS, Mixed) with a single Radion on that size of tank. For the best spread and even PAR across the tank, you'd likely want to mount them higher than 7" above the water line.

Perhaps if they are added at the same time in a large enough aquarium with territory for all, however we highly suggest seeking out those hobbyists on the reef hobby forums like Reef2Reef or ReefCentral who have successfully kept them in this configuration or one like it. :)

BulkReefSupplyCom i always saw the reefer as a second or many there after tank not a first tank. It makes sense as the light and skimmer and even the return pump are all up to the individual. Then to go against all that sense they throw in, in my opinion, a crappy sump. Also this Channel and it's evidence based approach is the reason I went for a decent sized fuge!

I'd imagine it's hard to build a sump that works for everyone's needs, but I think this one serves the purpose pretty well. Personally, given the evidence of how well fuge's work I'd probably opt for the Kessil H380 and some chaeto. -Randy

Great video!! It is worth mentioning that the best way to get the silent drain is to slightly adjust the valve. Major adjustments won't work so well! Click the valve once, let the system adjust and re-adjust as needed. My Reefer 250 has been setup for 17ish months and I've had no issues with the valve or noise! Oh yeah RedSea customer support is great if you need something!

Want this tank and sicce pump but thought these pumps wouldn't work on 16mm outlet how have you done this?.

The Sicce 3.5 we used fits onto the Red Sea soft tubing for the return line with no modifications needed. All we did was warm the end of the green soft tubing then slide it over the Sicce barbed tubing adapter. :)

You'd likely be fine with calibrating them once every few months, or possibly longer. They are pretty accurate!

There likely several freshwater hobbyists that use the Apex on their systems. The PM1 module cannot be used as a standalone, but if you are looking for just pH monitoring, you could pickup some monitors like these!

You guys made a mistake at the 3:32 mark the amount you guys said was 54 gallons that is JUST display tank if you look the total volume is 65 gal accounting the 11 gal sump otherwise great video as always <3

Great video. It explained a lot of things to me about setting up a sump system.
I’ve never had a sump as they can be noisy and I worry they may leak.
I might go for a sump system after seeing this video.
Can you tell me if there is any noise from the intake of the tank or in the sump?
