Good Job.  Seems like a solid set-up. VorTech are supposed to be quiet. Perhaps MainePure would work for pond matrix as well. ?? FYI You may like to listen to my Reef-A-Palooza Episode 17-19. I added you to the You Tube playlist.

thanks for watching!

Hey CJ I have a question. I fairly new to this hobby and I was just curious about a filtration I was planning. I bought the Fluval Sea Evo 12 now the filtration it comes with I'm not liking it. So I wanted to try the Pond matrix and maybe some filter floss instead of the original content. So I was just wondering if that was a good idea or try something else?
CJ'S AQUARIUMS
CJ'S AQUARIUMS - 7 years ago
Sounds good to me... May need to add some kind of chemical filtration as well. Carbon and/or so kind of phosphate removal in that small of a tank.. Polyfilter pads work well too... U have tons of options

CJ'S AQUARIUMS
CJ'S AQUARIUMS - 8 years ago
Best investment ever! And I say that after not having one for 8 months with my first reef tank... Weekly lfs trips get old quick! Good eye .. The weights hold my rodi tubes in place... When pressure changes they tend to jump out of the sink.. It's a temp setup so nothing is permanently attached ...

Hey man! Been watching some of your earlier vids again grabbing some ideas. A couple more questions... Do you know if BRS Reek Reef Rock is the same as Marco(being mostly free of organics). It kind of looks the same. Also, which salt did you use? BRS highly recommends HW Marine Reef Mix and it looks like that stuff gets pretty good reviews. Sorry for all the questions, just want to nail this down the first time!

Getting close to pulling the trigger. Really liking your set up. Two questions. Have you reached the point that you would recommend the MP ES 10, and by any chance have you ever used an Ai prime led with WIFI. Looking for any input on it. Its has an awesome tank mount that would work for my situation. Hanging a lite would be tough. I have vaulted ceilings above the area I can place the tank.
CJ'S AQUARIUMS
CJ'S AQUARIUMS - 8 years ago
Never had the chance to use that ai light before personally... I like hanging lights because it gives full access to the tank without every having to move them... The mp-10 works fine but I'm starting to wonder what a gyre 130 would be like on my tank...

It's amazing what one can do with a All-In-One system. Your skimmer level will fluctuate a bit with the ATO, but you may pull it off bro. Nice vid CJ.
REEFER JAMES
REEFER JAMES - 8 years ago
Yes,  Know the ATO's well my man, have two of them. Be careful though, after a while if you ever have snails, slugs will get on the float and keep your top-off pump activated. So just a word to the wise.  :-)    Will get to your newest vid soon, but I wanted first things first.  :-)  Going to the newest video might be a time saver for you, but a injustice for me!  LOL    I didn't want to spoil it.  Killer LED G.

love the new tank. I have a 30G Innovative Marine and it is great having an AIO tank.

One thing I would suggest would be the InTank Media trays. they are much better then the ones that come with the tank. much more accessible and fill the entire chamber, for more water volume.

Also if that tank is like the IM Nuvo series you can peel off the back coating with a razor blade. it will allow you to do a fuge, with a magnet light.

Tank looks great what are you planning to go with this time. SPS?
CJ'S AQUARIUMS
CJ'S AQUARIUMS - 8 years ago
I've considered getting the bigger trays... May do so in further with some spin stream nozzles for my return as well. For the moment I'm still cycling the tank so those upgrades can wait. I thought about peeling back for a small fuge. But after second thought I decided to go with a reactors and phosguard. Main reason is I'm trying to stay very mindful of keeping all detritus from building in the sump area. Already see it as a potential pain to keep clean. Keeping the overflow mechanically filtered with a reactors to remove phosphates seems like a better plan. Not sure on sps corals yet. Still love the idea of a moving coral tank lpsand softies. I may throw couple sps in to see how they do. I should have parameters good enough to keep any coral this time hopefully. Thanks for the feedback

I've been waiting for this. The tank and scape are looking great. Thanks for the shout out. Adding the Pond Matrix for the very reason you mentioned is exactly right. I see tanks with a minimal amount of live rock having NO3 problems. The PM supplements the live rock. My NO3 has never been detectable since the initial cycle. Try realigning the wet side with the motor on the MP10. I noticed that if it is slightly off, then it is a little noisier. Mine is virtually silent now. Maybe it just needs to be broken some too as you mentioned. I was also concerned about the placement of the skimmer. Maybe you can have it so that when the water in the chamber is full, it will be at the top of the weir, and at the bottom of the weir when the water is at its lowest. The water level shouldn't fluctuate more than an inch, since you're using just the one float switch. Maybe the weir is that tall. ???
CJ'S AQUARIUMS
CJ'S AQUARIUMS - 8 years ago
+cyberaquarist no problem I have had similar results when used PM on my last reef.. nitrates were always good. I have the mp10 lined up pretty spot on.. noise is only noticeable when pump if %60 or above power.. without corals in the tank i really cant judge how much power I will need.. if its below that range ill be good.. and breaking it in never hurts the cause.. the skimmer placement is a tough one.. Ideally the first chamber is best.. water level stays constant but im really wanting to mechanically filter all water entering the overflows. skimmer and basket both wont fit in first chamber.. the second chamber is slightly too small.. skimmer fits so snug water runs around it causing noise falling over the weir.. the return chamber allows most space and depth.. plan is the keep water level just below the wier to keep it flowing over.. and the jbj with 1 float switch wont let it fluctuate much.. from what i seen maybe less than half a inch before it kicks on.. this is the plan for now.. if it doesn't work ill sacrifice mechanical on one overflow and put skimmer there.. we will def find out wont we lol..

Great update. So the circle pumps are battery powered? The scape is awesome. I like sloping scapes instead of piled high. I have 40lbs of Rock coming Friday so I am pumped to scape my tank. Swapped out my sand for live sand and I still need circ pumps, filter and skimmer. You know I'll be following your progress. I can't wait to see the fish stock. Maybe we will be able to start sending each other frags

+MASS Aquariums nothing on my tank is battery operated.. I just have alot cords tucked away on the vid.. Im thinking about making a aquscaping vid to give tips on things Ive learned.. rule of thirds, golden rule .. ect ect.. It may help some folks that wanna change up their scape. 40 pounds of rock will be plenty for your tank.. may even not need it all depending on the pieces..your almost there.. I just started cycling with fish today (fresh water mollies) so it will be about a month or so... ill keep you updated man...
