This is an amazing feat. It's hard enough to get fish to spawn, now multiply this by 100x! I have NEVER seen this in home aquariums, except for mushrooms, but that's another story. Congrats!

@Mauritianman2003 Squirt the water gently over its closed polyps. Repeat every 10 min until they come out. Then give them some brine shrimp. if you repeat this for some days, you will train it to come out whenever you want. I feed mine 3 times a week.

@Mauritianman2003 I am running T5s. The lights on while taking the video are the normal ones usually on, half white and half actinic blue. You need to train your sun coral to come out during the day. You need a bit of patience at the beginning but eventually it learns. to start, entice it with the water with the juices from the head of a prawn.

what lights are you running right now ? Also, while taking your video what lights were on. I havve a sun coral about that size and i wanted to know how do u keep it open during the day light ? mine is always closed 90% .

@JuanmaThesecret . There is no blue paper. It is a clear glass. The light in the tank must make it look blue I guess...

@Russpuss83 Thank you :) I have found a local guy that collects water from the beach, he filters the water for a day or so, makes it the right temperature and delivers it to me. It is quite handy because he does it all, he drains the water and fills the tank again...

This water change regime means that I can feed both corals and fish as much as I want. The clam is doing great. I has grown significantly since I bought it and it looks happy (at least for now). I have never kept clams before this one and I don't do anything special for it. To be honest, I think the secret is the water quality, because my equipment is not the best... Hope this helps.

It goes to show that good quality water and good feeding can do the trick. The lighting system I have is pretty cheap. I have 8 light fittings X 2 T5s each that cover the full top of the tank. They are not the top of the range either. If anything they are pretty average. To keep the water clean and in good conditions, I change 95% of the water every 3 weeks. I only add Calcium and Reef Builder. I also run an ozonizer for 3 hours per day to keep the water nice and clear.

LBCREEFER . It is pretty easy to care for. Leathers are very hardy corals. All I do is feed them Reef-roids twice a week. It does the trick. All corals seem happy. drslayer800 the lights are plain T5s. There are a few of them...

I have another video that may show the spawning a bit clearer. I will upload it soon. The sun coral also spawned the following day, I have that on video too. Well spotted about the coraline. I regularly scrape it off the glass with a blade. The rocks inside are fully covered in pink/purple coraline though, which really enhances the appearance of the reef. They were fully covered within 6 m just by keeping good water quality. You are right about the age of the tank though, close enough at least

I can't be 100% sure its coming from the 'stool per the vid. the vid shows among the nicest large reefs Ive seen, you are not lacking duncans or azooxanthellates nor lps worth about $300 apiece minimum where Im from. One other ponderance, there is not a single spot of coralline in any corner or any pane of glass I have to put this assembled reefs total age at less than a year>? brandon429 4 seconds ago

U may have heard on the news about the flooding in Australia. Unfortunately, Brisbane (where I live) was hit pretty badly. My place was also going to flood, so I had to make a decision to either take my chances or play it safe and dismantle the tank to save all the livestock. The choice was easy... but it means that it will take a while to get back to where it was. I have taken the opportunity to upgrade to a bigger tank :) I do have one other video...And I agree, not too bad for an amateur!
