Hello quick question ,
Can I change out this sump for my ruby36s sump ? It’s a two drain sump so I would like to use both of them. I see the main tube but unsure of where that other green tube goes in first stage ?

The tank has two drains, a larger main drain pipe and an emergency overflow pipe. Both can be plumbed into the drain connections on the RUBY36.

so I really want to purchase this system, love the size and loos, but I've also read a ton of negative comments about build quality and cracked tanks. I plan on buying through marine depot. Have improvements been made or can I expect a bad experience?!

The tanks are great quality and if any damages occur, the MD support team is ready to help resolve the issue.

Thank you a lot sir. I want to get into this hobby but now willing to pay over 2000$ for a 70-90 gallon tank with all. I like to build things from bottom, like the sump and the stand. Just don't know if 2000 is enough or should i wait till i have 3000 for the hobby.

I don't have the exact number but you can check out the blog post below that lists all of the equipment we used on the aquarium.

Hi how loud was the overflow for this aquarium because I'm going to set up a new system this April. Would you recommend just doing my own setup with a herbie overflow or are the cad light aquariums worth it?
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies - 7 years ago
The overflows are really quiet with these tanks. They are a durso style drain with a nice large diameter main drain and they also have an emergency drain. The plumbing allows you to dial in the flow rates precisely to your liking with valves.

Can't speak for Marine Depot but the manufacturer is horrible. HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I can provide proof of purchase to anyone interested. Do yourself a favor. My order came with broken and missing parts and have yet to be replaced since the beginning of January.

Hello my aunt bought a 70 gallon fish tank plus two filter pumps and 18 medium size koi's. The whole set up is 5 days old now 1 koi died other are infected with rot what fish would you suggest us to place in a 70 gallon fish tank? thank you!
Paolo Casaclang
Paolo Casaclang - 7 years ago
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies btw all 18 koi died yesterday evening.. had the tank cleaned and by then the pet store where we bought the tank and koi will deliver 1 arwana instead.. oh and thank you for replying your such a big help!
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies - 7 years ago
18 Koi is going to be way too many for a 70 gallon tank. Because of the size that koi grow to it is very hard to keep any in a tank for very long and especially in those numbers. This is why you typically see koi in ponds rather than aquariums.

You also mentioned that the tank is only 5 days old. When setting up a new tank it is very important to cycle it before adding fish in. This means that you are growing the bacteria in the tank that will be able to break down the fishes waste and keep your ecosystem running. Without the beneficial bacteria that cycling will grow, waste will break down into ammonia which is highly toxic to your fish and will often get them sick or even kill them. If you want to learn a bit more about cycling check out the link below.

In general, 70 gallons will give you plenty of options when it comes to freshwater fish. I would recommend going to a local fish store and giving the staff the tank specifications to try to get a better idea of what can be stocked.

Hey, Im planing to get something for my bedroom, and I'm looking for something really silent. I cant decide between this and the red sea. This one is cheaper than the red sea. Do you think if I would use something like a Vertex skimmer and a Sicce or ecotech pump and maybe sound proof the inside of the cabinet. Could I get this thing to be silent enough for a bedroom? I'm picky with noise at night when going to sleep, but unfurtonetly only have space in the bedroom for it. Thanx
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies - 8 years ago
Hello and thanks for commenting! Sounds like you are now looking at something a bit bigger than the BioCube and Fusion tank. A bigger tank is much easier to maintain but will come with more noise. Adding noise dampening material to your cabinet stand does help but proper ventilation is also necessary. The EcoTech QuietDrive and Sicce pumps are very quiet compared to other pumps on the market but still have some operational noise which is to be expected. No tank will ever be completely silent but high quality equipment will definitely help reduce the overall noise of your tank.

Are you guys running a refugium on the tank?
Lovebetta
Lovebetta - 8 years ago
I love reactors than refugium, reactors are easy and works better with me. I feel always 100% sure my parameters are always right with gfo and carbon reactor. I am lazy checking my parameters so I switch to reactors.

+yoursisterspanties This tank does not have a refugium. We are running a Vertex Omega 150 protein skimmer, a GFO reactor and mechanical filter sock for filtration.

I am getting the 42g Versa Cad Lights tank this week.  Question about the sump.  In which chamber of the sump would you put the following:
1) ATO return line
2) Heater
3) Chiller return line
Brett Abbott
Brett Abbott - 9 years ago
+Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies Thanks!
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies - 9 years ago
+Brett Abbott Hello Brett, congratulations on the new tank! The ATO return can go into any chamber or even the display, just as long as the sensor is located in the return pump chamber. The heater can also be placed into any area with good flow and the chiller return should be placed inline after the location of the pump so you are not recirculating the same water through your chiller. Typically into the return pump chamber so the chilled water is immediately delivered into your display but this depends on the location of the pump.

We wish you the best with the new tank and feel free to contact our customer service team for further support. Customercare@marinedepot.com or 1-800-566-3474

yeah man. that's a really nice tank. interesting i see this now I was thinking of either ordering a custom tank or buying a tank with the dimensions 36x24x24. I'm still unsure of getting a tank that tall, but I'd like all the extra room for growth and aquascaping. what lights would y'all recommend that could penetrate that deep and cover the whole tank?

btw I just looked at the tank's product page and for $1300~ the price is right. However the sump design looks a bit weird? can you order it without the sump?

Could someone please tell me the size of the rms (part that goes on the tank)
Brett Abbott
Brett Abbott - 9 years ago
Also, so the sump keeps an even water level across each chamber?  My prior sump was set up where one chamber would flow into the other, meaning the last chamber's water level would go down.  Interesting setup.
Brett Abbott
Brett Abbott - 9 years ago
Two questions:  (1) How did you rig that auto-top off on top of the sump like that? Where did you get that jug? How big is it?  (2) Could I swap out the glass top for a mesh screen, and still use those little plastic clips to have it recessed within the tank?

I ordered the Versa 42 from you guys.  Can't wait to set it up.  Let me know.  Thanks!

why did you guys swap out the skimmer?
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies
Marine Depot Aquarium Supplies - 9 years ago
+Newty Bar Because we are spoiled and had it here to test. The CAD Lights skimmer is definitely a performer and an excellent value. The Vertex Omega, although more expensive, has been performing just awesome since we made the switch so we never looked back.
