Hey Matt. I love your videos, you have done an awesome job with boths marine tanks. i have just set up a 400 ltr tank+ 100ltr sump Im also using a zetlight ZT6600. But i was just wondering how you go with your dosing etc id love to see how you go about dosing and how much etc. Also do you use Kalkwasser? i have a dosing system aswell but not many corals as yet. what would you suggest as good starter sps corals? Cheers for your time and keep up the great work

Love the videos, these deserve more views! Do you have Twitter account? I could retweet these on Skydomes account. We are making video game called Hive, most of the game environments are inspired by nature and coral reefs. I'm recreating extinct marine animals and flora to the game, so players are able to experiance these amazing creatures.

If you have any suggestions what kind of interesting corals/creatures we should implement in the game, let me know.

For more information, you can visit my channel for the game trailer or our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/SkydomeEntertainment

Thank you for making these amazing videos Matt!

Cheers

Very nice!  Lots of healthy animals, well laid out, and nice camera work to!

Might consider ordering something like a Neptune Apex which you can use to turn off your return pumps for a certain amount of time during feeding and have them come on automatically later.  Let the animals feed a bit longer before the food gets to the filter box.

beautiful tank, just one question tho... how is that maxima clam still alive while being touched by that anemone? does he exibit any harmful behaviour?
the JaYoe Nation
the JaYoe Nation - 10 years ago
I have had that clam for about 3 years now.  he is covered with polyps and quite healthy.  That anemone and him got along well.... i am not sure a green carpet would be the same, but the bubble anemone didn't really bother him at all.

How do you get the polyp extension on your Sun polyp coral constantly open like that? I seen it in all your video. Don't they only open when you feed them?
the JaYoe Nation
the JaYoe Nation - 10 years ago
i would say that they are open about 60% of the daytime.  They get special attention when i feed... i give them big chunks of shrimp directly in their mouths.  I have had good luck with them, but also when they decide to die.. they die quick.. so i have to be careful.

Omg he's called a Pom Pom lol
the JaYoe Nation
the JaYoe Nation - 10 years ago
actually... its really interesting.  the Pom Poms are actually a separate living animal.  they are anemone that live together with the crab.  so the crab attaches them to his hands, and they are sticky, so they catch floating food that the crab can eat easily.  the anemone get to eat some too... so it is a win win... love nature...

I feed them a mixture.  Fine chopped fresh shrimp, seaweed, cyclopeze, and coral powder with phytoplankton and filter food.  I mash it all up with whatever else i get from the local fish market and lay it in sheets and then throw in the freezer.  everyone seems to like it.  I also add a little dry food every so often for some of the special fish that are picky.
