Matt’s Reef Tank | Episode 7 | Feeding

One of my favorite moments in the care of my tank is when I get to feed them. Watching the behavior of the fish and corals during feeding is really wonderful. Even more is the hidden life in the sand and places you would not expect coming to life when the food enters the system. Enjoy my feeding with me! This may be my last Matt’s Reef Tank for a while. I want to get started focusing on getting back on the road. I may pull some clips here and there… but I wanted to produce these last few videos before I started my tour again. For those of you that have enjoyed watching these as much as I have enjoyed making them… thank you for watching! May your PH never waver… may your nitrates never rise. follow my: Website at http://www.jayoe.com Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/jayoelife/ Twitter at https://twitter.com/jayoelife Personal Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/mcgalat JaYoe Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/JaYoeLife/ GEAR: My Big Camera: Canon 5D mark3 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/847546-REG/Canon_5260B009_EOS_5D_Mark_III.html WIDE ANGLE MOSTLY OUTDOOR QUICK ACCESS CAMERA: GoPro Hero4 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078001-REG/gopro_chdhx_401_hero4_black_edition_adventure.html WHEN I SHOOT OUTDOOR STABLE FOOTAGE, THIS IS THE REASON: Feiyu Tech G4S http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1188097-REG/feiyu_fy_g4s_g4s_3_axis_handheld_gimbal.html

Hey Matt, thanks for all the great content! Very fun to watch another reefers journey. At 6:35 in the video there looks to be like a sand seahorse, what is that thing?

not sure... just small organisms... give your sand some time and they will pop up everywhere.

I love the idea of how you stacked the rocks...consider the idea stolen. Further, at the 6:13 mark of the video there is a coral to the bottom right of the screen, would you tell me the name? I am one of those newbies that want 1 of everything. The look of your tank, as with others is the reason I am starting this hobby...It is so addicting.

I just binge watched your series. Your reef is truly amazing. it is great to see the King make his way through all the ups and downs that tank has gone through. Your tank makes me want to start my own. I know there is a lot of skill... patience.... and especially LOVE that goes into the reef. Your system definitely shows how much love and care you put into it. I have an 85 gallon tank sitting in the front room i want to make into a reef but I do not have the skill just yet! You also have an amazing camera to capture the intense color of everything.

the JaYoe Nation
the JaYoe Nation - 8 years ago
+TheBtyhuntr never clean the sand.... its an ecosystem... all you have to do is keep the nutrients and fresh saltwater going in... and your all set... just like nature.

Hey do you use a calcium reactor? Or nitrate filters anything fancy? Or do you just keep your tank simple?
the JaYoe Nation
the JaYoe Nation - 8 years ago
+raymarc japson I actually have a calcium reactor.... the tank and the reactor are sitting in the corner of the office... unused. I think they would be nice, but i was always nervous about calibrating them and worrying about if they went awry. I leave on a lot of trips... and if nature adjusts things... i can deal... but if the calcium reactor causes my PH or levels to go nuts.... it just seems to risky.... So i do dose.... and have a large fresh water top off system..but other than that... no.

Another excellent video, great shots, sometimes those video shots makes it look like if you are taking video of a another planet... nice colors....I am glad you have been posting more videos lately... ...My tank is way smaller than yours not as nice and not as many corals either but I only feed my corals once a week. what I do is that I throw daily vitachem like 6 drops in the water when I feed the fish and I feed them plankton very small amount every 3 o 4 days...  I guess that could be making a big difference, but I am afraid I can mess everything up ha ha ha. Have a good one and keep making those videos they are pretty cool.
