Austen Whitcher No there are also some LPS and SPS but for the most part it is a Soft Coral dominant tank.

As far as coral placement it really is trial & error it depends on your flow, lighting, tank size. As you know nothing happens quickly in this hobby.

Hey mike I have a toadstool leather coral that used to do really well however over the past 4 months its been shrivelled and looks bleached out however still has some amounts of polyp extension, I really don't know what happened to it all my parameters are in place and I have acan corals etc all doing. really well I add amino acids and my nitrates and phosphates are not absolute 0 I was wondering if it could be an iodine deficiency as I never dose it, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I believe sometimes corals as individuals just don't do fine maybe they're old? Maybe they're not as strong? Maybe it's that in particular peace? this has happened to me also and I have put another Toadstool in next to it and it has done fine so who knows

I use coral life salt and with my weekly water changes assume my iodine is good.

Fantastic tank! How old is your soft coral tank. And how do you manage to keep so many softies - with corals even touching each other - without massive chemical warfare? I have a predominately soft coral tank too but mine looks so horribly sparse compared to yours. My gorgonians and leathers have a fit any time something gets too near to them.

This may be a dumb question but do you have to dose two part to keep you cal/alk high enough? If so, how much are you dosing per day?

John Kerr yes I do dose with 1.1 mil per hour dosers for 2 minutes every hour with Brs dosers.
Alk for 12 hours at night 2.2mils each hour =26.4 mils per day and CA for 12 hours during the day the same way.

That is giant pulsing Xenia It is really great because it don't grow like regular Xenia all over the place it's on a single stalk and stays in that pom-pom size
