The Paracanthurus hepatus ( the Blue black Doktor) normally needs a aquarium with 2500 Liter he will get. 30 cm Big which is way to large for this tank

thats the thing unless you have a reef tank you wont understand how much the real thing brightens up your day, in saltwater your eyes are the only things that can capture the wow effect a camera doesn't do it justice

I run an algae scrubber system in a 100 gallon mixed reef and do very minimal water changes once every few months and sps grow well, however there is still a large amount of maintenance each week from stirring/cleaning the crushed coral to polishing up the glass from whatever algae grows during the week. It will always be a lot of work regardless of how often you do water changes.

Ive been in the planted aquarium hobby about 2 years. I want to set up a 300lt (75g) reef. Im just very intimidated by what people say of its hard maint. Please give me some info in regards to the maint. I suppose im more interested in water changes if anything as i already know the benefits of sumps and good cleaning etc. How hard is a single wc - what steps do you take? is it easy or hard?

Yes, pellets if run properly can be VERY powerful, some people even loose corals because they don't know what they are doing and they strip the tank from all nutrients. So pellets are worth it, but use with caution and common sense. Some people like to have special Pellet reactor that allows to regulate tumbling and in/out flow independently.
