Reef Aquarium Aquascape- 75 Gallon Aquarium

Aquascaped my 75 Gallon tank with about 75-80 lbs of Reef Saver rock. It took about two hours or so, but I was happy with final product. There is about 2" of Samoa Pink live sand in display and will have 1" of Miracle Mud in the refugium.

Thanks man, unfortunately, it didn't work out for me once my tank was fully stocked with SPS corals. So I now have a basic wall of rock with some tunnels.

I'm not a fan of dsb. They seem to cause more issues than they're worth. That's just my personal opinion though.

hopefuly! I am trying not to create NEW problems! any problem with a DSB of aragonite in one section in my sump with just chaeto?

Oh my bad, I only found it recently, i forget time can pass after videos are uploaded! lol Im glad it worked out. I am in the middle of restarting my system so i am researching new approached to prevent a future crash is all thanks for the video!

+Joe Scrivens Hmm, I'm not sure what the contents of that comment was. That video is two years old, but you're correct in that the beneficial critters would eventually die and may even pollute the system. Nothing like that occurred though.Thank you for the feedback/observation.

you said you added the live sand, but then didnt add water to not start the cycle. adding the live sand and not starting the cycle will cause the live sand to become just sand without any life on or in it due to die off.

Hey Gil I had a quick question. I'm starting up this 75g tank build and I wanted to use the BRS reef saver rock instead of using all live rock like I did in my 30g. Did u have to cure the dry rock? I'm reading that the dry rock should be cured then throw away all the water and put fresh saltwater in. Then on reefgeeks video he had issues with phosphates because he didn't cure his dry rock first to get out all the silicates. Some advice would be helpful thanks!

Thanks you. I've actually installed MP40 and MP10 since this video. It's nice because I can control the settings as frequently as I want with the Apex.

I have an established 55 gallon aquarium with live rock, some young corals a few fish and an anemone.  I've got 25 pounds of reef saver rock that just came in today that I'm going to add.  Is it ok to rinse it and put directly in the tank or should it be cycled first?  I've read that people have done it both ways.

Dry Reef Saver rock can just be rinsed thoroughly to get the grim off and to prevent it from clouding your DT. Your existing rock will seed it, no need to cycle dry rock. It's usually done with "live" rock to have its decaying dead organisms expel the dying organics so not to raise your ammonia levels and restart the nitrogen cycle.

Nice Aqua Scape! How many times did you fiddle with the rock before you were happy? LOL Just got 60lbs of real reef XL live rock for my 90 gal, I do like the 4 pillar concept and just freestyle on the way up

Haha, I must have spent 8 hours total messing with the scape. Since this video, I had to change it to more of an island look. My RBTA started going on the move, so I had to confine him on his own island!

love the rock work. I really like how when you went to the back there was nothing touching the wall. I think you will love it even more when you can see whats going on behind the rock. what lights are you looking to get?

I know exactly how you feel. Of course, I haven't put quite as much into it as you apparently have, but I've invested a ton of time in research and the money that I DO have to get what I have. So yeah, it's nervewracking and exciting all at the same time.

Looks like the 75 gallon is a popular reef tank. I'm starting up one as well right now. I just uploaded a video on mine. My filtering is going a different route for right now. Mine is a bit on the cheaper route but I will be buying more stuff as I go.
