Hey man I have a 1/10HP Artica chiller I bought like 6 months ago...it stays inside the house next to the tank. Is there anything I should do and or how often to service/clean that? Can you take them somewhere for them to be serviced?

I would just vacuum/clean around the chiller air intake every 6 months.

An you have to have the refrigerant changed & its expensive

That's only if you get a leak...but yes...I assume if the compressor got a crack or something like that you would have to fix the leak and so forth...

chillers generate hot air at the back which usually increase room temperature. How can this be reduced ?

Yes, some sort of venting solution to move the hot air out of the room would be ideal but it is not always practical. For my last two tanks my sumps have been in a different room then my display so it has not been a problem.

+Cristian Palma It is a 1/2 HP Tradewinds in-line chiller and I purchased it from Aquarium Specialty.
