Really enjoy your videos, The Information you put out is a great help.

I've just bought a 45litre nano tank, 50x30x30cm and would like to grow some soft corals and maybe some LPS when the time is right. I've spent some time trying to find some led's in the UK that doesn't break the bank (if possible).

I'm looking at these, tmc v2 ilumenair nano marine white (http://www.swelluk.com/tmc-v2ilumenair-nano-led-lights/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI79_u6e7v1gIVxxXTCh07HwjWEAQYAiABEgIwwvD_BwE).

Im not sure if they would be good enough, do you think two of these would be enough for my nano Tank for coral growth? If not could you recommend some that you think would be good enough?

Just a heads up. Recently started sps and couldn't figure out why my monti caps looked weird (green) and also lost 2 nice green birdsnest frags over night. Finally discovered my bi color blenny was eating my coral. Loved the fish but he had to go.

you only need to dose to keep up with the daily demand of the reef.

if the lights are too intense percentage wise, then what starts to happen to the corals?? do the polyps hide if it's too high whites???

If the light is to intense the coral will turn light in color expelling its zooxanthellae in order to save itself. If the lighting doesnt change it will turn white and die.

Tropic martin test kits are what I use on my nano, I also keep up with alk by putting the buffer in the top off water. so as the tank evaps it gets the alk buffer. my cal drops every now and then down to 380

+FishOfHex Thanks the tank is 27 gallons sump is around 10. then 15-20 pounds of rock so I'm guessing around 35 gallons total water. I'll do the 15ml of cal and alk and see how it goes. thanks.

+schizobipolarjoe I recommend brs bulk cal, alk along with mag. Mix it up in a gallon jug and hook it to an auto doser like i have in my videos. I recommend 15ml of both cal, alk daily per 25 gallons of water. Test once a week and make adjustments to both in equal amounts.

+schizobipolarjoe I always dose equal amounts of both cal and alk. I find no reason to use alk buffers if you are doing so.

How do you get and maintain your alkalinity at 9.5 on reef crystals? My alk was always so high around 12-13. No I switched to hw marine reefer salt and stay around 7.5-8

+FishOfHex my ph ran 8.1 consistently. Yeah I don't know a lot of these salts have crazy elevated calc or alk levels that I'm not crazy about. One of the reasons why I really like hw salt. All the levels are pretty tamed out.

+Blackbookproduct10ns I have never had a problem keeping 9.5 alkalinity with Reef Crystals. I also mix the salt prior to using it so that might help. I also dose 120ml of brs two part daily and the dkh never goes any higher. I using hanna checker to test alk. So a couple things you could be getting a bad alk reading depending on type of test also what was your ph during this 12-13dkh? It might just be luck but iv been using it for years and never had a problem.
