'This things gonna be frickin amazing when you go all LED' - haven't facepalmed that hard in a while. You really think there is an LED solution can deliver the equivalent radiant flux, diffusion, and spectral breadth that he currently wields with 648 Watts of T5HO at his disposal? I mean his stuff might 'pop' more and look less natural, but good god there's no beating that light setup currently for coral health unless he went with 3 x 250W radiums AND 324W of T5 supps with the custom LED bars. Faisal knocked the lighting design out of the park on his first try. No need for him to 'upgrade' to all LED in the slightest

Congratulations Faisal, beautiful tank and fantastic equipment mods you have made. Your work reminds me of my step father's work who is an engineer. Plus very neatly done.
Questions: what is the brand of gfo, and bio pellets that you use?

What do you feed your corals and fish?

Do you ever stir or clean the sand bed?

Thanks Jake and Thankyou for sharing your tank Faisal.

What is the brand of fish food you use?
Faisal Alansari
Faisal Alansari - 2 years ago
thank you..

regarding the GFO i use rowaphos and
Dr. TimBio Pellets.

i fee the corals once or twice a month max .. usually i feed the fish a lot and let them enjoy all the type of food and corals will enjoy the fish waste after that, its like win win situation lol ..

for the sand bid, i don't clean it and let the flow take care of it.. but 2 times a day the WAV will run at 100% for few minutes to flash the tank ..

Truly amazing!! I think part of his success is probably due to the fact that he started with live rock VS dry rock.. From what I read its very difficult to grow SPS off the bat with dry rock because of the lack of micro organisms and the like. Also great to see such success with T5s : )

PS man he should have made a longer tank and would have mad him EPIC. This tank seems small because of his success in growing coral so fast lol.

Hi Faisal Alansari
Very interesting concept. Did you see any benefit of mixing 2 methods (other than counter the huge Trition consumption)?
Faisal Alansari
Faisal Alansari - 2 years ago
my tank consumption is almost 3 dkh i day, which will take a lot of triton bottles in order to maintain that consumption. will take minimum 3 sets a month... thats way i fix the dosage to 35ml daily only. and the rest with the reactor..

Finally, someone who debunks the myth that you have to have a mature tank to get corals and fish to thrive. Never believed in this.

Great tank Faisal. I think you should start a Youtube channel so we can see the progress of the tank. Can't wait to see it in a year or two.

Received icd almost 10 years ago. Heart meds started 4 years ago. That's the treatment.
My location is a bit isolated so corals in general cost a lot. The reefers locally sell on rare occasions but not many around those that are charge as much as online cause they can.

You can get those 200-300 dollar frags for 1/3 of the price from local reefers. And as far as I can tell he doesn't have 300 dollar frags. You can get red planet frags for 20 bucks. I'm sorry to hear that and I apologize. The average life expectancy untreated is about 40 years. Are you being treated for it? How old are you? You might live a long and healthy life you never know. As long as you are healthy keep saving.

Okay I wasn't trying to be rude. It's just crazy that in 6 months his tank looks so great. I'm a little annoyed by the die in a year comment.... how long does one with ARVC type 5 live for in your books. Careful what you say you don't know my life. Yes I'm saving and slowly adding coral. A lot of the coral in this tank goes for 200-300/frag so no I will never afford a tank like this or the apex systems.
Sorry to vent comment bothered me

Corals are the cheapest thing in the hobby. I get all corals from local reefers for a fraction of the price you would pay online. Someone even gave away a free birds nest colony. And honestly, I think building it slowly and seeing everything develop is way more fun than putting everything in the tank right away. I'm someone who changes his ideas frequently anyway. With my nano tank, I planned everything beforehand but all my plans got thrown overboard when I was offered 5 RBTA's for FREE. I didn't plan on putting anemones in that tank. The biggest one is 12 inches and it pretty much hogs the whole top part of the rock. There is no way I can put SPS corals there now. I don't want them get stung all the time.

Drew Janes I buy 50 dollars in coral a month. Over a few years my entire reef will be grown and full. It takes time man.

Are you planning on dying in a year? People save up for a car down payment for years so why can't you do that for a fish tank? My wife is a Ph.D. student and managed to save up 10000 dollars for a trip to Europe. You don't have any excuses. You are just too impatient. You want it now and if you can't have it now you won't even try saving up money because it's not worth it. Well, guess what, with that mindset, you will never enjoy such a tank. Also. you don't even need that much money. You don't need to build your own sump and all that. You can get all of this for way less. The most expensive parts will be the tank and sump along with the skimmer and dosing pumps but you can get cheap T5 fixtures from Amazon for 100 dollars. cheap pumps (Jaebo) and corals you can get from local reefers for fair prices. You can also buy used sumps, used tanks, used whatever and just clean it. There are ways to make such a tank happen. People always want to go the easy route. Yes, it would be nice to have 15k right now so that you can buy everything RIGHT NOW. But that's not how it is for us normal people. We need to save up money to fulfill dreams.

+Random dude that's probably 15grand or more the average person can't shell out that amount of money for a fish tank in six months or even yrs.
