Yeah I totally agree with this...I have to admit that I use a pipit to spot feed my swalsei basslet. My tank is 2 feet tall and he stays in the bottom rock area and is not quite bold enough to come to the top to get food before everyone else grabs it! I wish I kept my hands out of the water more tho

Outstanding information. I've been having issues with my sps dominated tank in terms of algae, growth, and coloration. The tank is about six months old so I'm hoping things begin to turn around. Subscribed!

When you say slightly dirty tank. What levels of no3 and po4 are you meaning?

don't fucking dose nitrates...please don't do that.... jesus that is the stupidest thing possible... nitrates that he buys that from greenleafaquariums is for freshwater planted tanks, NOT saltwater.... I'd rather you spend money on coral food and target feed your SPS than dose nitrates....that is so fucking stupid..

No worries, ask as many questions as you like! My nitrates were in the 1 to 2 range so, yes, I dosed to get it to 5 and I dose to maintain it at that level.

ReefBum you are dosing it to 5ppm? Sorry for so many questions.

I do dose nitrate. It is pretty easy and inexpensive. I use this stuff:

ReefBum have you ever dosed nitrate to get it up to 5ppm? My nitrate is low at around 1ppm. Feeding more is not so easy to raise nitrate without raising po4 high. Any advice?

N03 around 5ppm and P04 around .03ppm, although I have had great colors with P04 as low as .01ppm.

As a newbie to the reef tanks I am trying very hard to keep my hands out of the tank. I do a quick tour of the sump area everyday, there are some parts I simply do not have a trust relationship built with yet.... As in the ATO! haha With such a small system I check my salinity daily and have saltwater mixed in a just in case situation!

What camera & streaming software do you use for the live stream of the tank?
ReefBum
ReefBum - 8 years ago
+pelphrey I am using an Axis network camera.
