I'm in the middle of fighting the ich epidemic in my 75 gallon reef. I've been using herbtana for 1 weeks and it kind of slowed down the ich. However, my hippo tang is starting to lose the battle; it's almost completely covered with ich now although it's still eating a lot. I just started the dr. g a anti parasitic today so hopefully it saves everyone.

Do you still use Dr. G continuously after the outbreak? Or did you stop after the recommended period?

from my experience and study cleaner wrasses are indiscriminate when it comes to parasites. this includes the tomont/tomite stage of ich. ginger curing ich is as helpful as garlic.

yeah lost the clowns along with a achilles tang and mated triggers and a few others only 2 chromis a red cardinal and a rabbitfish left... i started to feed the dr.g stuff yesterday and also started kick ich and rally at the same time but think i might lose the rest of my fish so might just go fallow for 8 weeks to make sure that the ich is all dead... really sucks i lost about 15fish in total with this outbreak.... uugghhh

if i recall, it took a good 6 weeks of treatment for the fish.

Gimmito450 am I missing something ? U treated the tank with DR G food for 6 weeks correct or did you also add other treatment. I tried listening 3 times but feel like I'm missing something thanks! My yellow tang is going through narrow parts of live rock which makes me assume he is scratching himself on purpose .

having a real big ich problem haven't been home in 4 days and get home to white spots all over my Ocellaris and Picasso clowns. how long did your treatment take to take son ed effects? afraid my tank is infected going to go buy those tomorrow morning..

The Dr G's is a great product, it has worked wonders in my reef tank, I had an Achilles, powder Blue, and three Yellow Tangs that developed a substantial case of marine ich. I treated them all for six weeks and they were completely free of parasites and have been for a year now!

this doesn't work, sorry. only way is to starve the parasites. keep that tank empty for 8 weeks. remove fish and treat them in a 2nd tank with copper.

Ryan Bondoc go to an asian mkt and buy smal sized roe it is orange and about the size of a grain of sand. Alternate feedings of roe then caviar. It also depends on how advanced the Ich is, as the fish will lose their appetite. Good luck

Tee Dawg yes you can use it in a reef tank with coral, the main thing is they must eat it. Sometimes they don't, I have found that alternating with fish eggs (roe) from an asian market tricks them into eating it consistently.

I have kept all of those tangs in systems with ich without issue - but if you jump to acanthurus tangs, your chances are 1/50. Literally.

Now that I keep achilles, powder blue, powder brown, sohal, and other acanthurus tangs (sohal can sometimes kick ich too) it's a necessity to catch them all, and treat them and run the tank fallow. I just did it in my giant tanks.. It's a REAL hassle but I want to keep all of my tangs alive.

I have 2x achilles, 2x powder blue, powder brown, yellow, purple, desjardini sailfin, sohal, chevron, blonde naso (he is in a system with ich and is immune now like your fish), and yellow belly hippo. Any fish can die, but hippo, naso, and all zebrasoma IME can build immunity. Almost no acanthurus tangs. I have kept an achilles for a year in a system with ich but it eventually took over and he succombed. I've killed probably 30 powder blues, achilles, powder browns and clown tangs before i started treatign all fish with Copper and TTM before ever making it to my display tanks (I have three large tanks)

I used a combination of Dr, g's frozen food|caviar and new era ich shield in my 450 gallon display. I'm happy to report the fish are ich free. *be careful not get any of the medicated foods on corals or anemones! The use of a UV sterilizer is debatable for the treatment of ICh, but can't hurt to try. I wish you the best with your ich problem.

Rotter Tube Reef I'm sure you know that Chloroquine Phosphate is widely used to treat ich, which happens to be the main ingredient in this product. I don't see why it's so farfetched to you that this works.

So really all you've done to fight off ich is to feed them the Dr G's formulated food? Sweet tank!! What size is it? My 90 gal DT is having an ICH outbreak...panicking a bit. UV sterilizer on the way, and looked into Kordon ICH attack...but reviews look like its crap.
