I'm not aware of any specific test, however from many reefer's experience nitrates should be a barometer as to the dosage amount.

Ive used No3Po4X on my current systems. I now have "Live ocean rock" coming for my nano 24G tomorrow, and my No3Po4X i ordered from you should arrive this week too. Can and should i use NoPox immediately during the cycle? My skimmer is rated for 220G.. just had it laying around so why not use it.
No3Po4X - BioSpora - Skimmer. All immediately or wait?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
Hey there! I would say that No3PO4x isn’t really necessary unless you have an active issue with keeping nutrients down. The live rock should already have a beneficial bacterial colony within thier pores, so BioSpira may also be unnecessary, but not harmful in any way. As far as the overly large skimmer, here’s a video we did on skimmer sizes. :-)

Hi BRS team I need some quick advice my zero reactor has gone offline, would you recommend I just bag the zeolite and agitate daily until I can purchase a new reactor? [feed pump failed causing the agitator to jam] fairly new system extremely low bioload currently.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
Oh no! Yeah, I'd say that would be your best bet and try to put the bag in a high flow area, since it doesn't have a feed pump like your reactor. :-)

If using the Zeovit system would it help or hurt using Media Pure I have a 700 gallon coral pool i'm getting ready to build and I was thinking about the Zeovit system and I was planning on using a lot of Media Pure since I won't have live rock in the pool.
thoughts on this?

If you aren't going to have any sort of substrate or rock in the system, then I would say that Marine Pure would be a great idea to provide surface area for the beneficial bacteria to grow and colonize on! :-)

I'm thinking of sugar dosing my nano. I have a sump with tons of marine pure. I dose kalk to keep up the pH with a diy auto top off. Can I add the sugar to the ato along with kalk?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
Hey there! There's definitely quite a few methods to carbon dosing, like with sugar, and ways to implement them into the tank. I can't say that I've heard of someone adding it to Kalk and dosing via the ATO, but it may be possible. I would browse the reef hobbyist forums like Reef2Reef.com or ReefCentral.com to see what thousands of fellow reefers are doing about dosing sugar to their tanks! :-)

BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
There is a possibility that the pores on these media types can clog with detritus and other particles. Although it may not be detrimental to the beneficial bacteria colony, I still recommend a maintenance schedule to clean them out. This can quickly and easily be done during a waterchange. I like to remove my ceramic media plates and give them a shake in a bucket of old tank water. You can quickly knock off built up detritus without harming the bacterial colony. :-)

Would you have turned off the uv sterilizer if you decided to liquid carbon dose. Like vodka, or nopox?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
Not necessarily. Since there is no concern for sterilizing anything "live" within the carbon dosing source and since the majority of beneficial bacteria live on the surface areas of the rock and sand, there isn't much cause for concern about leaving the sterilizer off. :-)

dang you guys are so awesome with defining of both systems and let me just say ive been using the 4 pack trial size related to Zeo-vit system and let me just say it is amazingly given proven results. with in 24hrs all my polyps where fully extended nickle size i was in woooow mode for months..... and still cant imagine ive been with out. so im planning on buying the whold zeo-vit system but all this is expensive for me since im not recently working due to a shoulder cuff injury which only pays minimum wage. so i have to sell some stuff probly n save for 2-3 months but i hope to get it sooner.... any discounts or sales happening soon to be ready for? please let me know. thanks guys for your great help and knowledge. fyi, i seen this Zeo-vit product about 5 yrs back with this guy in Europe who i was speaking to but because of tge language barrier i only knee so much, he was being very helpful about the whole synthetic reefing community and also trying to let me know what others where doing and experiencing but like i said thr language was an issue. My nitrates are constant at 25ppm and all my SPS are doing good. I want to start dosing NOPOX but I know stability it key for SPS. So, shall I try decreasing my nitrates to about 5ppm and start dosing NOPOX or just leave it alone and not disturb the stability?
Manny Santana
Manny Santana - 7 years ago
Raees Usman yes very CORRECT, never mess with what is working even if all is happy, corals seem fine fish too then just keep a close eye. i still would test minimum 4 to 5 cosecutive weekd to make sure nothing goes too high or low.
the only time you do changes is when parameters are way high, fish possibly die and coraks too. then you do a 30 to 45% water change with clean 0 TDS RODI WATER. I say it like that because many think that just because its RODI its perfect water, guess what WRONG still test water with TDS meter to make sure its great water. so back to water change, do that water chenge wait min. 2to3 hrs then test water in tank and see what thd effects have been. if numbers dropped them good your on right track to fixing issues. wait at least 4 days before doing another water changd as this can cause your bio in your tank another issue. then do another 25 to 30% water change wait 1 day and test water and their after once a week with 15% water change until water parameters are close of back to normal. as you do this keep close eye watch for stress on fish and corals, if you see this happen what ive done is keep lights on 5 to 6 hrs a day and if see if that help with stress if dont test water see what parameters are and if no change in numbers then look at your equipment make sure skimmer is doing its job, return pump is turning your water minimum 7x per hour for water circulation and cleaning affect through sump. add probly gfo & carbon media from BRS. also bio-pallets for denitrate water... well hope that helps.... look at all these BRS Vids for good informational help and what not to do. good luck.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 7 years ago
Doing a series of small water changes will likely get you there slowly, but honestly if the corals look great, there's not excess algae, and they are growing I would just keep doing what you're doing.

BRS: can you tell me how exactly you cycled the tank (no live rock) using the zeovit system? I ask because the zeovit guide specifies a preference to using live rock (they mention a 2 week period for cycling). what are your general experiences with the system, after using it for some time now?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
We followed the Zeo Guide, but we did use the Reefrock 2.1 dry rock instead of live rock. So far, we have been SUPER impressed with the system. Nitrate and phosphate are very easy to control, and the corals look great.

Franklin Michael
Franklin Michael - 8 years ago
If the carbon is used by the bacteria then would it be a good thing to add during the cycling process to feed the bacteria and help them populate the tank faster? And can you feed the corals with phytoplankton and plankton instead of using zeofood?
Franklin Michael
Franklin Michael - 8 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom Cool thanks.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
You could, but in most circumstances carbon dosing is used as a method of enhancing phosphate and nitrate processing by bacteria. When a tank is cycling, it's not as important since there is an excess of nitrate and phosphate in a majority of cases. Zeofood is a little different compared to planktonic foods since it is an amino acid and vitamin supplement that is utilized by the coral, where planktonic foods are particulate matter that your corals will ingest. You could dose both if you wanted to :)

For a nano tank you will be hard pressed to find a solution that is off the shelf. Your best bet would be to either modify a reactor (like the IM) or to simply run the media in a filter sock. Check this video out:

I have a question.... After battling the nitrates in my 40b I sorta threw in the towel. I was hovering at around 40-80 nitrates and no matter how big of a water change I did they would be back high again. I recently hooked up 3 phosban reactors. I with carbon, 1 with Rowaphos, and 1 with the brightwell Xport No3. I did a 50% water change which got the nitrates down to around 20-30. My question is, how long does will it take to start reducing the nitrates and how much flow should I be running? It says on brightwells website that you want 1-3x tank turnover but my LFS said to have it as low as possible ( which makes sense as you were talking about a low oxygen environment for the bacteria to colonize ). I have it set as just a small but steady stream coming from the reactor. It has been running for about a week with no noticeable drop. I've seen reviews saying it takes weeks to work and others that say it was just a couple days. I put more in the reactor than what was recommended as I would like the nitrates to be low and I can remove and adjust the media as needed. My bioload is super low with only a pair of clowns, a couple shrimp, and my cleanup crew. My feedings are light but I mainly feed new life spectum pellet with the occasional cube of frozen mysis.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
Ok, cool! Personally I would recommend the 1-3x flow rate they recommend, this will help pass an appreciable volume of your tanks water through the reactor each hour. Otherwise your setup seems sound. Once those anaerobic bacteria start to colonize the inside of that media you'll start to see your nitrates drop.

I am currently running the same zeovit system as the 160. would this system replace or simplify the color and health additives "parts" of zeovit?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
This system is designed to operate independently of the Zeovit system. It's for folks that don't want to run the Zeovit system and is essentially a coral supplementation additive package. No reactors, zeovit, or other parts of the full system needed, but it also won't offer the exact same benefits that the full system offers, especially regarding nitrate and phosphate.

+Jake Carpenter They do somewhat similar things. Skimmers remove organic material before it breaks down into ions like phosphate and nitrate. GFO removes phosphate as a compound, but won't touch organic material.

I thought protein skimmers and GFO reactors did different things.  I just got the Poly Reactor.  However, the pump it comes with isn't strong enough to pump through the reactor.  That or my reactor has too much GFO in it.  I filled itr 1/4 with GFO.

I love the marine pure blocks! I have been using Bio Pellets for about a year now and i love them the only problem i have had is regardless if you are skimming the water coming from the reactor you still end up getting bacteria build up in pumps. I have to clean out the main pump every three months or the pump will stop working. Great video.

I appreciate the fact that you guys/gals don't sell vinegar and vodka (which along with a good skimmer is all you need to get to an "ultra low nutrient system"), and you need to make a profit. I am just really bummed to see you push the snake oil that is the zeovit system.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Rob Bradley I think a lot of people feel this way, I know I did at one point and so did many members of the staff. However if you look at reefers who run vodka viniger or sugar some have success , some don't and there is an enormous amount of guessing as to why that is , how much to use , how often , additional additives various reefers use and a whole slew of unknowns. I just feel that is not responsible to promote the use of something like this where so many reefers struggle, even really advanced reefers who are largely responsible for much of what I know about the hobby and there is no clear answer as to why.

Zeovit on the other hand almost everyone I know that has tried it swears by it and I have personally seen way to much success to doubt it at this point. Exspensive with a lot of unknowns yes, snake oil I don't think I agree .

End of the day you will get to see the results for yourself and make your own judgment :)

I currently dose Zeostart 3 to my SPS dominant system. I do not use the Zeovit stones or any other Zeovit product. My tank runs very low to no P04 and N03 thanks in part partially to the Zeostart 3 I believe along with an awesome skimmer (Bubble King 300 Deluxe External) and good husbandry. I've always been tempted to try the Red Sea program as it's very logical to follow, comprehensive and not exorbitantly expensive like the Zeovit system when you get into all the extra additives. Question I have is how receptive the Red Sea program is to integrating the N03 P04 reducer, Reef Energy A&B and coloration enhancers into a system which utilizes the BRS 2 part currently. Presumably, I would wean off the Zeostart 3 and slowly introduce the Red Sea N03 P04, but I wonder how straightforward it would be to integrate the Reef Energy A&B and coloration enhancers without using the Red Sea Foundation Elements A, B and C. Reason for that is I my dosing units are well calibrated for the BRS 2 part and I would not want to recal for the Red Sea Foundation Elements if unnecessary. In addition, I'm under the impression that the BRS 2 part is much more economical over time and I really don't know if there is any benefit of the Red Sea product vs the BRS 2 part. Appreciate your insight. Thanks again for the great series - I just finished watching all of them over the last few days and it's hands down the best guide to reefing that I've ever seen produced without a doubt.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+ElementL116 Yup, exactly! Another option would be to test your tank for calcium at the same time a few nights in a row and average out the results.
ElementL116
ElementL116 - 8 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom So, if I maintain my Ca at say 420 ppm, I would dose based on 420 ppm? Or would I dose off how much I add on a daily basis to achieve that reading of 420 ppm? I was thinking the latter which is why I'm unsure how to gauge that. I mix the BRS 2 part per instructions and then use a dosing pump to add equal amounts throughout the day to regulate Ca, Alk, Mg. I do regularly calibrate the pumps as I've found they can drift. That being said, I can accurately gauge how much 2 part I add daily to maintain my given Ca, Alk and Mg levels. So, do I take my system's water volume, my daily dose of 2 part in ml and then use the reef calculator to determine how many ppm I'm effectively adding to my tank daily to maintain the 420 ppm reading? Thanks again for the feedback.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+ElementL116 I can't speak for the Red Sea Foundation supplements simply because I don't know, but our concentrations are likely different. That said it's based off of ppm consumed by corals so the supplement concentrations shouldn't have an effect.
ElementL116
ElementL116 - 8 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom By the way, how does the calcium concentration in the BRS 2 part compare to the Red Sea formulation? Is it 1 for 1 or are the dilutions different?

BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+ElementL116 Good question! Luckily the dosing schedules of the Red Sea Color and Energy additives are based off of calcium consumed in PPM. So for example you dose x amount for x amount of calcium consumed that day in ppm.

you have used live sand in the brs160 and zeovit tell you specificly not to use live sand, ive just stopped using zeovit myself, a year in of expensive products etc and im not seeing anything different to results ive had in the past with a well maintained berlin system, you have to be careful with it too, if you dose certain products too early or in excess then you cause issues with algae etc you cant just follow the recommended on the bottle you have to work it out for yourself depending on your system and this can cost money 1 in loss of corals and 2 a waste of product. and if you dose them too late and the ultra low nutrient part of it takes a hold it just starves out your corals which some can turn around from but usualy you will find lps will die inevitably, if you read the forums too the constant un winnable battle with brown algae drives users mad, if you have deep pockets you are very patient and can be super hands on with your system and dont take it heart fighting algae and loosing corals then id say have ago at zeovit, otherwise stick to a normal system, ive seen enough systems with amazing sps etc that dosent use zeovit or anything else

+Daemiex You make a good point about the sand. There are a few things with the system that aren't recommended, however we haven't noticed much of a difference before on our previous zeo tanks. This system definitely requires trial and error and tweaking to get it just where you want it :)

so if im using the zeovit system i shouldnt be running my protein skimmer, carbon and gfo in reactors?
also do you think 95psi from my aquatec 8800 to my 4 stage ro/di system is too much? should i reduce it?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Alex Bautista When running the full blown zeovit system, it's recommended to run your skimmer, KZ carbon in a media bag, and no other form of nutrient control (since you don't want to be fighting against the zeovit system). 95 psi is a little high to feed your RO system, I would likely recommend bumping that down to between 65 and 80 with the adjustment screw on the booster.

Just wanted to say first how much i really appreciate all the time and thought you guys put into all these great videos. i am a noob reefer as I just recently purchased a Red Sea Reefer 450 to be my first saltwater tank ever. Its setting empty right now as I have 80lbs of Pukani Dry Rock curing in a couple Brute Trash cans. I purchased this rock from you guys and all I can say is WOW. The pieces I received were amazing, and pound for pound the 80lbs is more like 100+ compared to other rock I looked at.
To my question.. as I am learning all of this as I go..I was going to run a BRS Media Reactor with a 1/3 GFO and 2/3 ROX 0.8 carbon. If I add a Bio Pellet Reactor with the BRS Bio Pellets is this overkill. I plan on using all of Red Seas products..for me as a new reefer the system seems a little more laid out and takes the guess work out of things. I base what I buy solely on what I am learning here and will be using BRS for all my aquarium needs. So i blame you guys if it fails..lol jking. Also do I add these items after the tank has been established or can I run them from the start after I add the water to the tank and start the cycling process. Thanks again for the videos!!!
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Ryan Deniston Thanks! Glad you're liking the series. Good choice on that tank, they are sweet! You can run GFO and carbon along side biopellets, however when you are initially booting up the pellets it's recommended to temporarily suspend the use of GFO until the biopellets take hold. I would probably start them off when you set the tank up. :)

Great video on covering the different nitrate reduction systems. However, I am disappointed you selected to go with the Zeo-Vit system on this tank. I do agree the system work, but it is a very hands on system that requires daily observation, tinkering and additives. If I did not have 4 kids and had their time and tuition money available, this is the system I would go for!

However, like most reefers, I don't.

Personally, I just installed your BRS biopellet reactor on my tank; this was more for supplemental use as well as for future use and not as my current primary means. I'm actually going for the Eco-System Miracle Mud method on my tank as it is lower effort, more hands off and another proven system. The "Miracle" name and contents of the mud is up for much debate, like ZeoVit. However those who use it swear by the results. Regardless of what mud you use, it is a refugium based system so I do hope to see you cover this type (even if not this brand) of system next week.

And this brings up another issue, I did not think you could use refugiums on Zeovit system because if you have a low nutrient system, then you cannot grow macro algae, right?
BulkReefSupplyCom

+BulkReefSupplyCom Ryan, a quick side question.  I was looking at the chemical equation at the 8:21 mark and it appears to me that using your BRS pellets would contribute some incidental alkalinity to the aquarium in the form of Bicarbonate as well as some CO2.  Do you know if pH and alkalinity impacts have been investigated with the biopellets?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Christopher Sanchez I know where you're coming from, it can certainly be an in-depth system that requires some tweaking, however I think there is a stigma attached to the system that hopefully we will help dispel with this series. Some of the best tanks we've seen utilize the Zeovit system. Granted, you can have an amazing tank other ways as well. We'll be covering refugiums this week, and you might be pleased with the route we take. :)

As usual Great Video!! I came away from it with a lot of information and a lot to think about. I currently use the Red Sea Reef Management Program and I'm very happy with the results I've seen. I've been very curious about ZeoVit for a long time. The one thing I can say is you always know a ZeoVit tank when you see one. I may think about implementing it on my new tank build and see if I can reproduce the same results that I've seen others achieve. The overall cost is the only limiting feature I see. If you can't take all of 1 minute, twice a day (morning and night) to pump you reactor for 10 seconds and put a few drops of additive in your tank, then I don't know how you have ANY time for this hobby. As far as vacations go, the systems hold fine for a few days on its own. The ZEOvit forum is FULL of all the info you need to get your tank going and friendly people that are happy to help advise you on any questions or issues that may arise. I'm so happy that the BRS 160 is gonna be a ZEOvit tank! I couldn't recommend ZEOvit and BRS enough! So excited to see what BRS is gonna do with ZEOvit and the BRS 160.

Great video as usual! But I was really hoping you were going to go into more detail on bio pellet info though...would have loved to of seen a more in depth comparison of reactors and proper implementation of bio pellet usage... for example fact or myth that the output of a biopellet reactor should be plumbed to discharge right by the intake of the water source feeding the protein skimmer etc

BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Mike Baier We found that we saw a drop in nutrients even when running an undersized or no skimmer at all. So while it's likely a best practice to run the output of the reactor near your skimmer's intake, it' probably not necessary.

Hi. Your videos are always great. I am curious if BRS or anyone else has ever used expanded clay pellets (used in hydroponics) either in reactors or loose in the sump to increase surface area for bacteria. They are pretty cheap and very porous. The only potential problem I could see is the introduction of minerals that may not be desirable, but I am not sure if there are in fact any impurities or, if so, whether they are bioavailable. I think they could be used in an experiment to compare to MarinePure.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Troy H I have used them before for false bottoms in my dart frog vivariums, but as far as a reef tank goes I would be a little hesitant simply because I am not certain on the makeup of the clay. We may have to test that out :)

BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+eric85855 Pukani is pretty porous as well. Honestly, I really like to use Reef Saver in my tanks since it is so easy to work with.
eric85855
eric85855 - 8 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom Is the dry pukani pourous too?
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+eric85855 No, there are pros and cons to everything. Reef saver costs less, comes clean, stacks really well and doesn't need to be cured because there is no organic content on it. For instance the cement based rock we used in the BRS 160 will likely have the same issue as reef saver. The external surface area will process ammonia into nitrate but I don't think there will be a tremendous amount of anaerobic denitrification within the rock.

Thanks again guys. As always, you put out great info and are all about the education. I disagree with those that think this has anything to do with commercialism or advertising. Exactly opposite! Good luck with your Zeovit choice, but like all the other choices you've made (that we all make), I'm sure you'll end up tweaking and responding to what your tank and inhabitants communicate to you. I'm an eager observer and well-wisher for all you're doing. Thanks for this great service you provide. Happy New Year! :)
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Pew Heretic Our approach to advertising is just different than most. More or less we just want to help reefers be successful and learn about different approaches to the hobby and then hope that when the time comes to buy something for your tank you select us because of that value. So far the exchange of value has benefited the viewers and team here at BRS but it is a pretty big leap of faith : )

Unfortunately that system is very labor intensive , how would a reefer handle that system when on vacation , can you let it sit idle for a week or so and just pick back up when you return thanks?
brsund06
brsund06 - 8 years ago
You can also automate drop dosing with some of the higher end dosing pumps, kz also makes some automatic Reactors but you can go quite a while without shaking the stones as long as you keep up on your zeostart

+eroggero Most people believe that it would be ok for a reasonable length vacation. I know Jason misses weekends on his office tank every week without issue.

BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Byron Morrison When it comes to organic filtration, that is certainly the case. We chose Zeo since it provides the best organic filtration possible (even if it is a little bit of a chore to work with). Once we think about adding corals though, we will also be covering the basics of Alkalinity, Calcium, and Magnesium, as well as the many ways to maintain those parameters, including dosing. :)

personally i have nothing against zeo, in fact i have a distro just down the road who is willing to sell/teach/show me how to use it, and i may.

I guess im disappointed that after 25 weeks you guys have just taken a complete change in direction. It would have been nice to see the basics of cal, mg, alk dosing etc as everything so far has shown the complete basics for beginners which has been great.

Looking forward to the demystification of Zeovit.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Byron Morrison Also, the nature of this series really is to look at all the available options for each topic and select the best one. IMHO Zeo really is the best carbon dosing solution.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Byron Morrison It is interesting that zeo has that type of mindset attached to it. There is a lot of negativity attached to zeo. I assume because of the cost and the optional nature of the system which makes it hard to justify to most. However anyone who has seen zeo tanks in person is forced to admit they are typically pretty stunning. Our goal is to show the results so reefers can make more informed decisions based on real results.

Zeovit makes testing/maintaining alk, calcium, and magnesium look like child's play. I'm one where if it's not easy to do I won't add it to my reef. lol. I'm gonna be hard pressed to ever try this so do your best BRS to convince me. I will give you this though, I'd rather drink the Vodka than add it to my tank. lol.

Ted R.
Ted R. - 8 years ago
+BulkReefSupplyCom I run gfo/carbon, grow chaeto, and do weekly water changes as my algae/nutrient control. A big thing I've learned is to not overfeed. If you overfeed you're doomed unless you have sufficient nutrient export.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Ted Regnerus I agree to a point however fighting algae battles isn't easy either and its the results that make it worth while. However I personally probably don't have the staying power for this type of thing like Jason does. If i was doing all the maintenance I would probably not use a biological flirtation method like this either..

this series is basically a long commercial, there I said it.
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+aCaptAmerica I guess in many ways it is a type of commercial. We absolutely are presenting the value of some products and systems. While it isn't important to us that you buy the products in the commercial we do hope that the video and knowledge shared presents value to the reefing community and you might consider buying something from us sometime in the future. Between salaries, space, product, testing equipment this costs us about 250k a year to produce or $5,000 an episode so we obviously hope people do buy something someday to sustain this. Because of the cost associated with videos like this no other reefing company puts much effort into it. However because I am the owner I can spend my money how I see fit and I think helping reefers make informed buying decisions is a good way to spend it.

End of the day I do hope reefers get more out of this than your average commercial : )
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+Bryan Tabares Thanks! It's my personal goal to just help people make the right decisions for them and present all of the information we can even if that information leads them not to buy something. I guess we just have a lot of faith that reefers value this and when it does come time to buy something they will buy it from a company they value. So far that seems to be the case : )
BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+aCaptAmerica It can absolutely be viewed that way and i'd certainly understand why someone might think that. Another vantage point is we are talking the time and effort to show the pros and cons of all the different products we offer to the reefing community as well as information on how to use them and the results. The later is my motivation because I know how hard it can be to learn everything someone needs to know about all this and its almost impossible to sort through all of the opinions and clutter on forums.

BulkReefSupplyCom
BulkReefSupplyCom - 8 years ago
+DayNation We don't sell a carbon dosing system like this under the BRS brand other than the biopellets. Biopellets work at reducing nitrates, inexpensive and easy to use but there are still a of unknowns and they don't typically produce the same awesome results as zeo tanks.

Nice I didn't think this build would be doing zeovit. I was hoping you guys would. I live up in duluth not far from you and have been running zeovit for quite some time now it is an awesome system I've ran many types of filtration but for my 350g build I had to continue with zeovit. smart choice on the reactor. If you guys are interested I would love to donate you some acropora for your system. like I said I am not far away and when you guys are nutrient poor stable and ready for coral I'd be happy to give you some variety from my zeovit tank aefw free.
