Can I place small corals with super glue under water instead of taking the live rock out of the water? And how will the super glue chemical effect my water?
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 7 years ago
Yes, and the glue shouldn't effect your water at all.

For the tank in this video, the standard hood lights that came with the tank. I would recommend anybody with a nano or bio cube though to take the hood off and use a Finnex Led light. Now on all my tanks I use EcoTech Marine Radions though.

That is actually just a product by Innovative Marine called SpinStream. It just twists but doesn't actually pump or push anything.

We want to glue our frags to the live rock already in our tank.  How would you recommend we safely do that?  We are guessing we would need to pull our live rocks out of the tank to attach the coral.  Correct?
We made a mistake and got an urchin.  It's knocking everything down.  We are thinking about getting rid of it.  If we glued down our frags would they be safe from the urchin?
We really enjoy your videos.
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 9 years ago
Yes, it is best to take the live rock out. Hopefully its not the bottom rocks. I would suggest getting rid of the urchin. If you glue them down they will hold better but there is not guarantee, unless you really over do it on the glue. Thanks!

What kind of corals generally go on top and which ones generally go on bottom. Im starting a 15 gallon nano reef and i need some ideas. Btw im not a beginner so some level 2 corals but i have no idea where to place them or what kind to get.
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 9 years ago
Bottom corals are usually, plate corals, wellsos, brains. Top ones would be like sps and other things tht like a lot of light. There are a lot of corals that can really go up or down depending on the specific lighting and tank.

+CoralFish12g If I have a 20Gallon High tank with 50/50 Coralife bulb and a Aquaclear 30 filter; what type of coral would do well with this set up?
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 9 years ago
Probably start with gsp and kenya trees as your first corals. See how you do with soft corals and then expand.

Hi
Thanks for your great videos.
I don't know if I can ask you a question here or not but let me try my chance.
I bought a Oval flower pot coral, it was nice and healthy, but on day it fell down. I changed it's places but it started to exude something white, I searched and found that it's Brown jelly disease, my hammer torch is infected too, I don't know what to do,please help me if you can.
Thank you again.

Hi
Thank you for your attention
I checked them, calcium=500, Kh=11-12, pH=9 (because of using elemental every night), nitrite and nitrate and other toxic parament were zero, I bought medicoral but I don't think I can save it.
Thank you again
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 9 years ago
Thank you, ok first the flower pot corals are for experts and if I were you I would never buy one again. If two stony corals are dying I would check your calcium, alk, and magnesium levels as well as your nitrates!

+coralfish12g Thanks very much for letting me know. I will try that as I never dosed iodine.
CoralFish12g
CoralFish12g - 10 years ago
Hi Rasim, I hope you have been dosing iodide and or strontium in your tank. Those trace elements have the most to do with soft corals and if you are not dosing those in some way other than water changes, that may be your problem. Ask your LFS to do a test for iodide. Also make sure your tank is at the right temperature that might be it.

Instead of having a regular nozzle at the top, its a nozzel that rotates around and shoots out the water in different directions. It's nice because the same amount of gph comes out and it's in different directions. Made by Innovative Marine and is called Spin Stream,

That is a really good question, the glue is supposed to immediately harden once it hits the water. So no not really but what I do a lot is bring whatever I want to glue to the rock out of my tank. Then put the glue on it, wait for it to turn that milky white, and then really quickly put it in the tank and press it really hard to wherever you want. Most times that will work if you do it fast.

Awesome info ! Thanks!! I'm brand new to the saltwater world and just set up my first tank, 90 gallon. I'm not ready for corals just yet as I'm just 2 days into it and waiting for my live rock & tank to cycle. Can the glue be used underwater? as in gluing it to a big piece of live rock without taking out of my aquarium?

He has wrote other saltwater reference guide book's and they are worth reading. I myself have been in this hobby for many many years and anyone can learn from those books...
