I have a question about shipping fish though mail. How does that work? Do the post service take in consideration that its live animals? What about laws? here in Norway it is illegal to ship live animals.

The breeders send it to transshippers in/near your country and then they send it to the local transhippers and they send the fish to you. I believe.

This is what happens when you care more about the money you're making than the animals you're raising. The minimum tank size for a betta fish should be 2.5 gallons. They shouldn't have to live in these tiny cups or soda bottles. This would be like locking a human being in a closet and just tossing in some food every so often.

btw, the breeders only keep the adult bettas until 3-4 months old before they're sold (some are sold at 2 months old or even before as a pack). It's just temporary.

the reason why 2.5 gallons is the min cause at that size it allows the betta to not poison itself between weekly water changes.it's also meant for a adult betta which need more room then a baby cause they are bigger.

a baby betta doesn't need as much room as a full grown adult cause it's smaller.also it's a a bad idea to put young fish in larger tanks cause the more they have to move the more likely they are to starve to death.breeders also change water way more then any one does to a adult bettas forever tank.

+Roger wilson betta farms breed their bettas in even smaller containers. Most fish farms in Asia cram and overstock their tanks and ponds. You should see how panga are kept. What makes you think 2.5 gallons is enough? You can't really compare humans and fish and your analogy is heavily flawed because isn't 2.5 gallons merely an equivalent to a small apartment? Would you lock the human in a small apartment forever? I think many people are too obsessed over the size of the tank and not about the water quality or the water temperature. You can have your fish in a 10 gallon tank but if your water isn't stable and your fish is suffering a lot more than being in a smaller but stable container and body of water.

When they fight, their beautiful fins get torn, they get wounds, they die. You want to see that? What most people like is to see them flare, posture and try to look tough, that's why they don't put them in the same container. Most people don't enjoy seeing animals suffer for their pleasure.

they mainly live in shallow slow moving streams and ponds in dense plants.

they can also be found in ricefields when the stream they live in is diverted to make the fields.
