A lot of new aquarium owners make the mistake of buying a pleco right off for algae killing - but pleco are not very good algae eaters. Plus - they eventually get too big for your fish tank. This is another fish that is pretty readily available in the hobby but isn't doing the rookies in the hobby any favors. Sure they are cheap, but they don't eat algae unless there is nothing else left. They get big and aggressive and suck on other fish fins. 10X.
Keep 'em coming Dustin, you rock.
of albino algae eater! man if your going to have an aquarium
at least get one that is big enough to house Rainbow fish!
The poor guys are gonna snuff it.
That said, I have a Chinese algae eater, he's big, he's a cunt, but he's really aggressive with the regular old green stuff, 99% of the time he's eating away at everything.
That said, my slower-working Siamese algae eater is more useful for other varieties of algae, especially black brush.
R.i.p dark destroyer jr
Do yourself a favor tankguy or whatever your see name is. Talk about the fish. Less nonsense.
BTW I had cereal for breakfast!

Anyway, I have a few videos of my aquariums up on my page. Check them out, especiall if you are interested in making your own incredibly effective filtration system.
This is my future list plant :)
I have other Aponogetons like undulatus and rigidifolius Red, moe hardy plants then ulvaceus or Madascarians :)
i use to have 2 of this Gyrinocheilus.Aymonieri i buy them without checking out how they play in tank . after one month they they was getting fast bigger from 2cm to 5cm and start to fight for?? i have not ideea finaly i give present to one person who wish them in bigger fishtank i hope they are fine. :)
:D
I've got a SAE, and a False SAE, and they too do get a bit feisty with each other at times. Well, actually the False is the aggressor almost always... I won't be getting anymore of those anytime soon. However, I do see them working on tank maintenance duties all the time (unless taking their allotted breaks throughout the daylight hours.
As for football, can't go into any great convos there just yet... too painful, too angry, too disappointed. Bear fans everywhere will easily understand.
These are great for controlling algae when they are smaller, but they grow insanely fast/large and get aggressive. I will try to get a video of this but my CAEs stalk my cichlids. They are going ape over that slime coat and will harras fish 20 times larger than they are. They are too fast for the cichlids to keep up.
So in my experience STAY AWAY!!
Once they grew a bit they started digging until they hit the dirt layer and just made a god awful mess in my tank. Would advise to keep them very far away from any dirted tank. I am still dealing with the mess they made and may have to redirt my tank! :-(
Congrats on all the success for you, look forward what you got 2014
I'm gonna try to get the guide. ;)
As for algae eating fish, my favorites are otocinclus, dwarf plecos like clown plecos, and cories. :-) Never had a Chinese Algae Eater, because I'd been warned about how big they get early on.
