Because the energy consumption is much greater than the energy regeneration by the solar panels. A boat like this with its available surface should stay still for a few days to capture energy to make a few hours run...

Electric is great, because the worst thing about motor-boating is the engine noise and exhaust fumes. I can't wait to see more boats powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Motors, with compressed gas-tank fill-up taking only minutes, using Hydrogen sourced by splitting H2O by electrolysis powered by Solar & Wind Electricity. H2 is a great energy storage medium for Solar & Wind Electricity. We already have H2 Fuel Cell Cars, Buses and Trains, and boats are next.

@Dimitris its a hydrogen fuel pod. literally water is your fuel. you get hydrogen gas via electrolysis (electrify water and it splits the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen).

If you're almost out of juice, you just use the surrounding water to give you power.

as if these people wouldn't do the same. Another thing, they can just lay solar panels to mitigate that too.
