Surface Drive refers to the propulsion system - specifically a drive system where the propellers/props are large diameter and designed to be most efficient when they are placed/trimmed halfway out of the water. That's why there is a huge rooster tail being generated from the part of the prop that is above the water. The surface drive also provides steering by angling the props left and right (no rudders). An interceptor is similar in function to a trim tab on a airplane. It allows the pitch axis and roll axis of the boat to be controlled and they are used to allow the boat to come onto plane faster and keep it level.

Those engines are thirsty, but that is the cost of a very high speed cruising specification. Maybe a lower speed configuration would be better to get a reasonable cruising range.
As for the purchase price: wait a year and pick a good used example for way less the new - let someone else take the hit of initial purchase (prices will always go down).

I wonder how fast it'd go in calm waters cold weather (turbo diesels thrive on cold dense air) with all unnecessary weight removed so water, food furniture etc and say 1/2 a tank of fuel.. This is really fast for a big boat. But massive cruise liners 100x bigger than this used to go 58-70mph average speed as they traversed the atlantic to win that award nations use to vye for winning in the early 1900's through the 1960's before mainstream commercial aviation. These boats usually made like 260,000hp and were massive steam powered..
This is all the speed you'd ever want though I suppose.. every inch is Beautiful!

Actually that's 72KPH not MPH - the SS United States holds the record for fastest Atlantic crossing (1952 - hasn't been beaten yet by another cruise liner) and it's top speed was "only" 72Kph or 38 knots. The 9x will top 40 knots.

I hear you, but this yacht is all about performance, so it needs that amount of focus to explain it well. It's definitely not designed to maximize luxury or living space, but to rip through the water in style.

20 ltrs or 4.5 gallons per 1nm at 25kts id like to see Maurizio top up the 9000ltr fuel tanks after the test, bet he's not smiling then lol! anyways - English at last thank you ~ was about to unsubscribe ... Pershing always make modern cutting edge beautiful fast desirable yachts and at €7000000 its surprisingly affordable at this end of the 30mtr market (of course the tax mans 20% VAT still waiting to be paid at €1400000 before it hits the water) again a very nice in-depth review video as always, the best even,
