Hi there, I see a lot of questions here so I have another one. I have been surfing in the Netherlands for some time now on a long foam board I rent at a local surf school. It's about 8 feet I reckon. I think it's too long for me and can catch pretty much all waves here with it. I'm thinking about buying the BIC 7.3 Mini Mal. I'm about 6 ft and weigh about 160lbs. The waves are usually around 4 feet but can go to about 6 feet. Is this board a good choice for me? Thanks in advance:)

Hello! I Think the 7'9 would be better... your big enough to manage the extra size an the additional volume will ensure the board is big enough and bouyant enough to catch alot of waves and provide the stability you need when mastering the pop up!

all you guys asking him if the board will fit given your dimensions, DONT ASK! go to a local surf shop, talk to the owner and he or she will be able to help you way more than someone ever the internet no matter how experienced the person is you think is helping you. maybe even try out a board if the owner lets you.

@SmithNineX Hey! Due to the volume and width etc of the BIC boards, and aslo the fact you want to shortboard eventually the 7'3 will be the better option. Going by your height and weight it is buoyant and stable enough to provide a good platform for popping up, but also the 7'3 will be lighter and easier to turn and generally manage in the water!

Hi I'm 15, 5 ft 7 and around 67 Kg and am not sure to get the 7'9 or 7'3. I will be mainly surfing in Kent at Joss bay and around the Broadstairs area. I would like to end up short-boarding eventually. I've had a couple of lessons and can stand up, I will probably just improve by myself from now and maybe have a few more lessons once I Improve, any help would be much appreciated!

I would recommend looking at something shaped a bit more professionally if your wanting improve your turns. The BIC's are essentially big lumps of plastic filled with foam, great for stability and learning to get to your feet as they are very stable. But when it comes to turning they are not the best!! If your looking for something which will help you progress whilst still being durable and good value I would recommend something like a EPOXY Cortez or circle one, 7ft 2 to 7ft 6 would be good!

Far from a pro but the 7'9 is going to give you more float so catch waves easier and give you a stable platform to get to your feet. It will be less of a learning curve but less maneuverable than a 7'3 would be. The 7'3 to be fair would also be fine given your weight and easier to paddle through waves but harder to catch waves and less stable when getting to your feet but quite maeuverable. Depends on how you wish to progress

That should be fine for your weight and height as the board has good volume. Enjoy

Hi, Yes i would put you on either 7'3 or a 7'9 either will be good for you. The 7'3 will be more maneuverable and more progressive and the 7'9 will be more stable and catch more waves. Feel free to call us if you want any more advise.

Hi Can you let me know how tall you are? Just going by your weight you can ride / learn on either of these boards. A 7'9 will catch more waves and be a more stable platform where the 7'3 will be more manoeuvrable. Ill give you a better recommendation on knowing the height Thanks Sean

Hi Thanks for your enquiry, the 7'3 would be a good board for you to learn and progress on. If you went to a 7'9 it would paddle faster and be more stable in getting to your feet where by the 7'3 would be more manoeuvrable . A 5'10 to start on for you would be a big no, you would find it to be a nightmare. Thanks Sean
