preventative maintenance is what he is doing , he is dead right. everything checked and done when cleaning before putting away means nothing forgot. or if wrong gives time to get stuff repaired.

Always check for salt ingress. Also use Bel-Ray 6 in 1 all over the engine. It will keep all components brand new for life. If you don’t believe me I can show you pictures of my 2006 40hp E-tec

Flush ya motor on the lawn.....keeps ya lawn happy and the greenies. (Yes i understand ur a business and may not have lawn on ya lot)

The Etec flushing set up is great , my outboard is a Tohatsu 50 hp 4 stroke. Flush it much the same way but you have to remove a threaded plug to screw in that hose fitting, almost lost that plastic plug a couple of times. Couldn't see any water come out the " tell tail" , guess this is normal for an Etec? It does flow out on my Tohatsu when flushing with the engine off via top hose fitting.
Putting the boat back in the shed / garage dry is the go , great advice, If possible do the wash down at the ramp including the outboard flush. The drive home might be enough to dry things out .

I don't know if this is right or wrong one thing I do to flush the motor out is put it in a 75 lt bin throw a cap full of 2 stroke oil in the water and let that flush though the motor my thoughts on that it leaves a film of oil throughout the whole cooling system like the head been doing that for about 8 years on my Suzuki dt 30 and never had an issue

ok what I do is I put the oil in while it sits in neutral and I rev up the motor using the prop exhaust to churn the oil into the water that way it does reach the intake and lubes all the internal parts with a film of oil to stop any corrosion in its traxx that's my thought any way.
