The original design is still intact they just modernized it by making it a little shorter but still keeping the original design. By doing this a classic has come back strong with the ability to perform in everyday conditions ranging from 2-6' surf. We got great waves and weather for this review and I got to test the OG Flyer in suggested wave sizes and the board delivered the goods. It felt solid under my feet and in both EPS and PU. Both boards went good in both small waves and I was confident in my turns when the waves turned on up too 6'. I say the OG Flyer is a great daily driver for the surfer who wants a versatile board to ride in waves ranging from 2-6'. This board has it all.... speed, agility, control, and it's spicy in good surf or in the less than average days!!!
Regards Tom
The OG is more of a Daily Driver and very user friendly. Great paddler and large sweet spot under the front foot
I heard they have heaps of drive
Now my dilemma is what should I get to fit in between this OG Flyer and the Semi-Pro 12 when I travel? For those bigger days but not barrels... just to draw longer lines on the face of the wave.. carving mostly..
Thinking about the Fever or another Fred Rubble on the 5.10 mark around 26 ltrs...

Have you ever heard the term soul surfer? Well the O.G is the Soul Surfer's stick. I surfed it today in head high to a foot or so overhead. The board had so much soul and style. If you make a nice bottom turn that tail loves to come around and Blast out the tail! The thing I love about this board is ability to flow, I mean it loves to connect your top and bottom turns together while projecting you forward even in the mushier stuff. If it's a punchy day then you will most likely find yourself grabbing rail to stay tight in the pocket. The wide tail generates plenty of speed while still wanting to get vertical when you stomp on the tail. I have seen people totally destroying it on this board and catching air, this board can do it all with plenty of potential magic and creativity that can be unlocked once the waves get better. This is one of the boards that will progress your surfing as you and the waves begin to get better to build that relationship that's unique between you and your stick. The thing I don't like about it is that it's not grovel friendly and it's not just me I have heard this from other surfers as well. In my opinion, I feel that it's the way the foam is distributed throughout the board that makes it dense and buoyant if that makes any sense versus a board that is light and buoyant to help you get into those smaller waves with ease. I agree with Noel that it is a daily driver and should be taken out in surf that's 3 maybe 2 feet or better (depending on how much you want to work and how good you are) Even though the PU I have is Ultra light glassing, it feels and paddles like a heavier glass job. Other than that "feel the legend under your feet that's so sweet"! P.S. I caught a howler on this thing this morning! Howler: a ride that makes you scream out once you've ridden it.

Cheers
Can it generate speed on small or mushy waves?
I just want to shoot you a quick question. Im looking at the og and the new flyer, I'm currently on a 510 x 19 5/8 x 2 7/16 superbrand magic mix. I'm going to be choosing the stock 59 dims (og: 59 x 19 x 2 3/8, or the new: 59 x 19 3/8 x 2 3/8) of either, which would you suggest? I am wanting to go down in both length and width as Im moving down in literage total. I'm an intermediate to moderately experienced surfer.. just looking for a suggestion. Thanks in advance

Perfect trestles maybe not the best choice for testing that board. Would like to see you try the grovelers in lower quality waves like Huntington or small Oceanside t-street etc. Love the vids and always look forward to the new reviews, just some variety of waves would be cool. Keep up the great work!
The OG Flyer is the original design and concaves from the very first model they released. They did some different models after that like the Flyer F, Flyer II, and the New Flyer.
The only true difference in this OG Flyer is they made it shorter.
I think the double concave loosens the board up a bunch but there is not enough of it to help with traction on the bigger surf from my experience. The bigger waves at Lowers that we got for this review on the OG were well over head and this board never felt like it was going to slide out. It felt solid out there... but in reality when the waves get 5-6+ I would choose to ride a different board that has a bit more rocker overall, but I wanted to push the OG and see what it could handle. Cheers!!!!
