Thanks so much. I'm an intermediate surfer looking to step up my board right now but not looking for high performance since I surf places like Venice Beach. I don't like to paddle too much so based on that could you recommend with a little more clarity? Thanks =)

CI recommends a 5'10 for a novice at that weight.

It depends on your experience and how much you feel like paddling. Depending on what you are comfortable with, anything from a 5'2 to a 5'4 would work.

I ended up purchasing a fishcuit 5'4" off some guy online for 250.00. Great deal and I can catch waves with it! I'm shaping one of my old boards that I don't ride into a motorboat shape by using my fishcuit and flyer boards that I have. You're video is helping me too. Thanks!

Yeh. The story goes I had a 6'3" Anacapa that I started with and my friend let me try his 6'0" Xanadu and I saw a deal months later for a 5'9" ksmall and its been working well on waist to head high waves. So I decided to get the same size for a semi-pro and its been doing well so far. People have said the same thing about the board being too small until they see me catch waves with it. Thanks for the info!

You're 175lbs and ride a 5'9 semi pro? That's kind of small for that weight. Is it working for you? At 175 CI recommends a 5'10 motorboat but they also say to ride 4 inches shorter than your shortboard, which in this case would be about 5'6.

Alright I'm almost hooked. I ride a k small and semi pro, both are 5ft 9inches. I am 5'9" in height 175. Do you think a 5ft 6 motorboat will be fine?
