At first glance, I thought Al Merrick and Yadin Nicol's Weirdo Ripper was just another shorter, wider, fatter small wave board. But this board is much more. My 'go to' board on a recent Maldives trip, the CI Weirdo Ripper loves a clean, lined up face from waist high to well overhead. My only qualm about this board is that it just doesn't seem to get along with more average conditions. I love this board in good, lined up waves...do you? -------------- + See the Full Review with Full Standard Dims, Rocker/Outline Images, Ride Pluses/Minuses, Comparisons to Similar Models and More: http://bit.ly/WeirdoRipperReview + Subscribe to Get the Latest Reviews, Deals & Updates Direct from Benny and CompareSurfboards.com: http://bit.ly/1dUbZ5A -------------- Looking for a source of real, honest, objective information about surfboards and surfing products – based on actual experience from surfers? Hey I'm getting a Weirdo Ripper 5'10*20*2 1/2 ,  3 fin set. I'm intermediate and looking for the best fins for this board. I'm 165 pounds so i need  medium fins. I was wondering if the  FCS PC AM-2 medium fins would be a good choice for this board? ,Witch fins do you recommend for this board ?

Hi Ben, heading over seas to surf some hollow waves, I plan on taking over my Lost RV for the not so hollow spots and smaller days, I also own a 5'10 weirdo ripper that I was considering taking over as my main board, I am considering buying a new board to take instead of  the weirdo ripper and cant decide between a v3 rocket or DHD skeleton key any thoughts? Feel like I could feel under gunned and to wild on the weirdo ripper if it gets around or over 6 feet or so

Could I pick your brain? I am 6'2 185 lbs, im looking at the 6'0 weirdo, do you think thats too much volume at 36?

Love the reviews Benny. I bought this board in the 5'11 x 20 1/2 x 2 9/16 dims after watching this review. Took it on a trip to the Central Attolls in the Maldives this year with a 6'8 JS Forget Me Not Pin tail as a step up. Ended up riding the WR the whole time, even in 4-5 foot barreling waves at Machines... Excellent paddle in but only started to feel the drag from the V when conditions got too fast for the little board, but excellent all rounder, felt solid in good waves. Only felt it want to skip in solid surf, otherwise a fun skatey feeling board. Has me reaching for the step up board less than I used to!

@Nigel Hill Awesome Nigel! It's a great little board, especially when the surf lines up.

If you don't mind, I'll add this great feedback as a review of the WR at CompareSurfboards.com so other surfers will benefit.

Cheers,
Benny

Nice show! :)
Is it working in smaler windy conditions as well?

Try the Average Joe or Fishquit for smaller, choppier conditions. Or kitesurfing in windy conditions...LOL.

Hey there @user/Mw2megapro, small okay but mushy/onshore, not as much. In my experience, the Weirdo Ripper likes better, cleaner waves

Ben, nice work buddy. What size Weirdo do you have? And what is your height/weight? Trying to dial in my size: 43 years old, 165 lbs, surfing for 30 years. Thoughts?

Hi there kit7873,

I ride the Weirdo Ripper at 6’2 x 21 3/8 x 2 3/4 @ 40.3L of volume and I am 6'0 and 110 kg's (~240 lbs).

Have you seen this guide to help you with sizing? http://bit.ly/knowyourvolume

Also, please see the full review of the WR here - http://bit.ly/WeirdoRipperReview - I include the dims I ride for every board I review!

I hope this helps you!

All the best,
Benny

You said that you don't recommend this board for mushy waves. Can you give me an example of how mushy? 2 foot mushy? 1 foot mushy?

Hi reefbreaksurfer,

Thanks for your question! I surfed the Weirdo Ripper in average (weak, onshore, not lined up, etc.) conditions from waist high to head high.

Does this answer your question?

Cheers,
Benny
