Great review thanks Dane, I just brought a Channel Island Sampler 6, 2,, 38 litres ,yesterday from Tripple Bull Cronulla NSW, Im 93 kgs , 5, 11,, Intermediate Surfer, its a beautiful looking board, and cant wait to take it out, just got back from a month in Indo and back to work .

Any sizing advice for someone who is 5'11" and 160lbs? I'm thinking 5'9", but the stock dims put this board at 29.7 liters and I'd prefer if I could get that over 30 liters. Does the flat rocker help make the 5'9" seem like it has more float, or should I jump to 5'10"? Thanks!

Year ago but still around and can see why. Just got one. Paddles fast, easy entry, great for late takeoffs. Agree those first few turns were a bid odd but once you figure it out, fast out of the pocket and down the line, as expected, but very fast transitions in turns. Certainly doesn't go like you'd expect looking at it. Great board.

& 7 months later ... "Once you get a bit of lift ... steeper face," Yes it gets a ton of lift ... almost like hydroplaning! Extremely fast down-the-line but holds in a strange spot sorta high on the face back under the lip (head high or bigger) and feels a bit odd at first.
Suggest a MED fin though ... like Medium FCS 2 Performer Neo Glass still holds in through turns never feels like spinning out on head high waves.

Dude those waves a laughable. Surely a surfer can't take that seriously? I don't think any shaper would make a surfboard for non waves like that. It doesn't add anything to the review showing clips in 2 foot wind blown kiddies waves.

+xwhite2020 Consider yourself lucky if you live in a place where the waves are great all the time. Most people don't and we do not in Sydney. Unfortunately, in Summer, this is typical and that's when we received the Sampler for review.

+benjic1000 What are your best maneuvers? Craig is defiantly not a pro surfer but he has surfed very well from what I've seen,. You don't need to be on the amazing to feel out a board.

This is not good news, I bought a new flyer and it sucked it was slow and stuck in the pocket, I was hoping the sampler would be a revised dumpster diver/neck beard type.
I would defo demo this board before I buy it. this is the second review I have seen comparing it more to a new flyer.

I have a New Flyer as well. I've found that's it's tough to paddle into "top to bottom waves" and does not generate speed until you start working it. So almost a pause when you stand up, not good on critical waves. But can generate tons of speed if time to start working it once up.I have not rode Sampler but from talking to an ex pro that has, he does not like the NF but loves this board. Said closer to the Dumpster Diver than NF.

+bermcannon k Hey Bermcannon, don't pass judgement too quickly. I think the style of this board (slightly shorter/wider but not a super stubby hybrid) easily lends to comparison with the New Flyer but the feedback we keep hearing on the Sampler is that it's FAST.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the New Flyer but I'm pretty excited to get on one of these bad boys!

Hey guys, I started out on a 7'6 minimal and moved onto a 6', 21" wide pcc board about 7months ago and don't get me wrong I love her, She does great in the mushy stuff or small summer days but I really want to try something more performance orientated and smaller. I was thinking of a 5'9 Lost baby buggy or maybe a sub buggy.. what would you recommend for me and do you think 5'9 would be to small or should i go 5'10 (I'm 6'2, 65kg age 15) Thanks for the help and if you have any other recommendations that would be rad!!! and for fins, the majority of the time I'm surfing around cronulla area so nothing special, my mate has the fcs ii JW's and the felt good you think they'd be sweet or something different? Cheers!!

Hey, I have the Lost subbuggy. I am 5'7, 55-60 kg and 18 years old and the board is 5'7 long. I think it is a really good board. In the begining I had to get used to the board but when you are you go really fast and you can turn it also really fast (just look at kolohe his vids ;) ). I surf it in mushy waves, about 1 meter, but I have also surfed it in about 2.5 m really powerfull waves. Hope I could help with a bit of information about the board :)
