It took some getting used too at first but when I got the fins dialed in I started to have some fun. I had some challenges getting used to this little 5’3” Twin Fin because it is so skatey. What I mean by skatey is with no center fin the board wants to slide out when I transition in my turns and that took some getting used too. I tried 6 different fin set ups in this board and there were two that felt good. The Twin Fin Especial by Captain Fin and the T1 by Futures felt the best for my style of surfing. Machado recommends the K1 or K2 Keel fins by Futures and they felt really fast down the line but a bit delayed in my turns for my likings. I just don’t have enough Soul in my surfing and drawing classic lines is going to take some practice. All in all this board was really fun for me going front side when I found the right fins that worked for me. My backside approach not so much as I could not get the board to stop sliding out on my top turns. I had a good time trying such a unique design and in the end I feel like I learned how to use my rails better on my surfing. I think most surfers would find this board to be fun and exciting to try something new and learn how to draw different lines.
I have been riding more Twin Fins now and I am getting used to no center fin. Cheers

ill wait for that on monday, then the time select the new quiver that i'll be riding soon
Are you thinking of getting the GO Fish in 5’5”?
5' 5" 20 3/8" 2 1/4" 29.3 L
5' 7" 20 1/2" 2 5/16" 31.1 L
I have tried the volume calculator of firewire and both sizes are recommended. My level is interm/advan, above avg fit, age 40 (25 yrs exp, surf once a week), 160 lb, length 6' 2'' (yes, a skinny dude). I have a CI POD of 5'8'' x 20' x 2 3/8'' - 29.3 L that suits me fine. I surf a variety of waves in the Caribbean. I tend to go for the 5' 5'' but are not sure. Any recommendations?
Grtz, Martijn
The GO Fish is really fast and loose so the 5’7” will be quick and nimble.
Thanks my friend
Thanks a million my brother

first of all, congratulations for the review, just excellent. I ordered a 5`1`` and can`t wait to surf with it. One quick question, i am struggling to find a traction pad to fit the board. I saw you placed a "normal" traction pad on yours right? Thinking of not placing one at all but i amso used to the traction pad on my back foot that i don`t know if i will get used to a board without it if you know what i mean. Have a great year and keep up with the excelent reviews ;)
11" to 6'0" twin fish and wasn't sure what to get with this because I've also never ridden firewire and also hate that feeling of having a bloated front end.. Hopefully I made the right choice
When u r doing the HS holy Grail?

By the way I just watched your new review on the Kailani Surfboard it looked like a great board. Good job on the review too! Cheers bro!!!
I have talked to Chuey a couple of times now and he is not on board.... bummer for now hopefully soon. Cheers!!!
1. Your audio has a lot of echo and reverb and makes it difficult to listen to.
2. Your intro story about seeing it on insta and going to HSS is boring. If you are going to tell a story make sure it has a narrative arch so it pulls your viewer in.
Really dig that you went through how all those different fins made the board feel for you. That's often glossed over in other reviews.
Otherwise great review and your surfing shows that you know what you are talking about.
Instead of riding the K2 like Rob suggests, you worked with the fins until you had the Fish turning like a Thruster.
Maybe exploring where the K2 set up took you would be more evolutionary for your surfing. Aloha
The Tomo Evo sounds epic when you talk about it. I have not tried one but it sounds good!
It was great seeing how your style was modified when you rode this board. Your turns were a bit more drawn out and focused rather than tighter and effortless like usual. YOu definitely had some killer floater maneuvers and seemed like you were airborne on a skateboard. Great video!
First I was surprised how pointy the board is, it paddles well like my BP and can pickup small weak waves just under 2ft upwards - it feels very similar when paddling to the BP. the first wave I got caught out with the timing and went too far in-front of the wave, this board has speed! the balance is something else to get used to as it's very front foam heavy and a very thin tail. After a couple of waves I got used to it but I think this board is really aimed at intermediate/advanced surfer as you have to adjust your timing & really feel what it's doing. the board is very forgiving and feels light and glides effortlessly, I did a foam climb with it on one wave with ease and it has lot's of release off the top - that part really reminded me of the EVO (very similar), some of my other boards would have got stuck on that part of the wave. the fin's feel good (very precise), but I'll probably try one of the other makes at some point like the Sea Shepherds.
Overall it's a keeper, I think it will work very well if you can get the right flow & let it do what it's designed to do. I haven't had chance to try it in bigger than 3ft waves yet... can't wait, should be fun.
Yes that reverse 360 is easier for me on my backside and the Twin Fin rotates quick and easy.
Those Captain Especial fins are good. I really like them so make sure grab a pair when they have them in stock again. Sorry I didn't dive into the details more but they are all Fiberglass and feel great. Cheers!!!
I been trying to find these captain fin especial , no surf shops have them and thy been sold out on there page for a little while now.
I gave The Chew Toy the same attention with fins and tried everything I had to make it go good for me and it had no wow factor for me. I have surfed and reviewed few hybrid Thruster boards now and I have expectations and opinions of what works good for me and what I think is a good Groveler. My posture for each board and review is pretty simple, review boards, give honest feedback, answer questions, and have fun. My point on the Chew Toy was it can surf in the pocket like Rusty surfboards says it can but it lacked the drive I was looking for in a small wave board. Pretty simple for me.
