like how many liters can i go up from my standard shortboard volume (25.7-27) without loosing manueverability? i see the smallest plunder is 5'6 around 30 liters so not sure if that would be too much volume or still be responsive and with great paddling

REAL Watersports - 5 years ago
Jorge, thanks for reaching out! The 5'6" would be a good size for you, just expect for it to surf like a groveler. Super fun!

Would you recommend, for small 1-4 ft. waves, the Plunder or the Firewire helium Evo

Plunder Vs Greedy Beaver? Which board would you recommend over the other?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
Hey Rick, The Plunder has the single fin box which encourages more of a trim style of surfing and more alternative styles. The Greedy Beaver is easier to surf and more of a classic fun board that is easier to progress on.

Since you mentioned the 4+1 Shiva, but by all appearances seems to be a very different board; how would you compare them as to their similarities and where one might have the edge?
Moo Trail

Cool, now I get it:)

The Plunder has a more full nose, and less outline curve for more speed and small wave performance. The Shiva's rounder outline, deep convave, and narrower nose encourage more radical surfing and performance in steep surf.

Hi how would you compare this to a lost lazy boy 5'8? Are they overlapping a lot? Thnx in advance and for the review above ofcourse.

You are on the right track for sure. The Plunder rides really well in bigger sizes. The 6'6 would be a wave catching machine and would sit well between your long board and LayZboy. http://www.realwatersports.com/hayden-shapes-plunder-futureflex-6-6

+REAL Watersports Ah got to explain myself, have a 5'8 lazyboy and a 6'0 lazyboy already. Want to get rid of the 6'0 and something else in between the 5'8 and the 9'0 hoku. Something more cruisy like I guess the plunder is. I weigh around 75 kgs prob 78 with a wetsuit.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
Stepping down from a longboard, the Plunder would be a great call but the 5'8 is going to be huge decrease in paddle power. If you are looking to change your style this could be really fun after you've gotten used to a smaller board but you will probably miss some waves getting to that point. How much do you weigh Raymond?

+REAL Watersports Hi thnx for your reply! My other board is a Guy Takayama hoku 9'0. Surfing mostly junk waves in The Netherlands and some French beachies when on surftrip.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
In the same size, the Plunder offers a more cruisey feel and does not to turn as easily as the LayZboy. Both boards work well for a mellow surfer but the LayZboy can be forced to surf in a more high-performance manner while the Plunder's more full rails and foam in the nose make it harder to surf aggressively. What other boards are you surfing and where do you surf? I'd be stoked to help you get on the right board. - Ashlon

How's it going, I'm currently working on a project of putting a 350cc jetski motor in a surfboard my only question is: what style of board would you suggest for this project I was thinking something along the lines of a long board but not exactly sure which one. If you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
GJensen, you are going to need something stronger than a stock surfboard for sure. Look into carbon fiber materials and boat builders to collaborate with on a project like this. A 350cc motor is a ton of power and weight that a surfboard is not designed for. Good luck, send us a video when you're done REALpro@REALwatersports.com - Ashlon

hey. I'm looking for a good, beginners board. I'm 6'1 and around 210 lbs. Do you have any you recommend?

Hey Mr. PotatoHead, Thanks for writing in. You should get on a longboard to start out. If you're not trying to break the bank we have a great selection of Surftech longboards currently on sale here: http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/surftech?surfboard_type=532

These reviews are way better than the older ones! good job guys!!, I was looking into getting my real HPSB i'm 5'7 and weigh 105 pounds i'm a beginner- intermediate surfer right now i surf a 5'6 20 5/8 2 3/8 puddle jumper ish board with a double concave nose is a little bit more pointy than the PJ I mostly surf the buxton lighthouse and the frisco pier, I've been looking at the ...lost voodoo child and the lost baby buggy do you guys have anymore shortboard models that would be a nice fit for me I wanna get either a 5'8 or 5'6.

Thanks

i'm 14, if I get the 5'8 I can grow into it and have it for a while
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
It really depends on your skill level. The 5'8 will paddle more similar to your Puddle Jumper but the 5'6 is more maneuverable. You are pretty light weight as well, if don't mind me asking how old are you? If you've got some growing to do the 5'8 would be better in the long run but the 5'6 would fit you better now.

Hey thanks for replying so quickly! I will definitely consider the baby buggy for my next board! Would you recommend a 5'6 or a 5'8?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
Stoked to hear you're moving onto a high-performance short board. When it's on nothing fits the light house like a good short board. Coming off your Puddle Jumper the Baby Buggy will be easier to surf. It has lower rocker and a slightly more full outline to provide more speed and paddle power. The Voodoo Child has more tail rocker which enables tighter turns but requires you to drive more off of the front foot. If you want to check out some other models we also stock a wide variety of Pyzel's and JS boards, from Pyzel I'd recommend the Stubby Bastard or Pyzalien, for JS check out the Monsta Box and Black Box II. Building a quiver off your Puddle Jumper, I'd recommend picking up a lower rocker short board like the Baby Buggy to cover you from chest to a few feet overhead, then once it's really pumping pick up a board designed for bigger waves like the Lost Round Up or Pyzel Ghost. All the best, Ashlon

Ok dude it. doesnt have a wide nose.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
Thanks for your feedback, compared to most boards this size the nose of the Plunder is pretty wide and it carries a lot of the center width through the nose with its parallel rail line. It's not a longboard but definitely not as narrow as your standard short board. Keep up the stoke! -Ashlon
