ya I know but I usually catch up with you on El Camino Real parking early, I usually park around that corner light. Anyways, I surfed the Holy Grail this morning with the Merrick quad set up in size medium in the new air core construction. The waves were a lot bigger than I had anticipated ( well overhead) on the bigger sets on that back row. The fins held good even in the bigger throaty sections. The quad set up gave it a flair right from the start and it did stiffen up the board a bit but the hold was there and it was loose enough to maneuver.

declan rienecker Take your weight in pounds and divide it by 6 and you will get a good idea on good liters. My weight is 160 divided by 6 = 26.66 liters. That’s at the top of liter range but you get the picture. My liter range is 25.5- 26.5 in PU and EPS varies on board design and width...., 24.5-26.5

So let me get this off my mind before I forget, This board has a controversial design for me. The board has secondary small wave design features with primary good wave performance features which translates being able to grovel but only for experienced surfers who are at that advanced intermediate level and up. I say this because this board comes alive in bigger waves and has the ability to grovel but whoever decides to grovel in it has to be a good paddler because most boards that are made for small waves have a flatter entry rocker for that get up and go right out the gate. The HG has a medium entry rocker which creates a bit of drag on take offs but once it's up and running that inverted rail line really zings down the line creating that flow that Noel talks about in his review. The HG is also not very forgiving due to it's high performance features such as the inverted rail, and pulled in nose. Even though the rails are full, the apex is low and there is a subtle tapering design that progresses as you move to the back of the board. The wide point, rolled V and the construction (future flex) gives it small wave attributes, making the board feel buoyant and responsive, however the pulled in nose requires that you lay stream line on your board so that your chest lays right over that wide point which in my opinion doesn't leave much wiggle room for those novice riders that may not have all sweet spots on the board dialed in yet.

I would order this board in more literage then you might think you need so if you're in between dims I would order up until I had this board dialed in for the novice to beginners and even to better surfers that are transitioning to this board because it flexes different than most boards out there due to it's carbon frame

Rikard Ängermark That’s a tough... Both boards are epic. I like the Fever as a HPSB and I also like it as a daily driver in my Groveler dims. 5’7” x 19 x 2 3/8. The HG is a legit Daily Driver and it will do HPSB turns too. I think if your surfing hollow punchy surf then go Fever... if your surfing a bit slower waves and punchy or hollow sometimes then go HG.

Bernard Fonseca The HG is a great board for 3-6’ surf. I think the Sci-Fi is more of a Daily Driver and less of a Groveler. I guess the Sci-Fi could be considered a Small Wave performance board.

The HG is fast, paddles pretty good, and turns on a dime. Very responsive board and has a HPSB feel to it for sure.

Hey Noel, I know it’s a little late but I am now looking at getting a Holy Grail. Does the future flex construction react the same way like any other epoxy board, drifty and lack of control? When the waves have some surface texture and there’s some wind on it. Would you more go for a poly instead?

danny alamina I am used to EPS and I love it but not every surfer does. If you surf a lot of chop then go PE. The FF has a rapid rebound out on the rail and has its own feel. However The PE will sit down a little better in textured surf... unless your used to it.

michael koch The MB is sick in 2-5’ surf and is very easy to surf... the HG goes best in 3-6’ surf and has a very loose feeling under foot. The side cut tail offers quick rail to rail turns and it’s wider tail block offers great down the line speed. The HG needs a fin with a lot of rake to maximize performance. I would say the main difference is the MB is a small performance board and the HG is a Daily Driver with a HPSB feel.

Hi, i have been surfing for 2 years now and i feel like i need to change my board to progress.
Currently i use a 6'6'' with lots of volume and i feel it slow, like im not capable of generating speed.
I want an all around board which helps me generate speed and lets me surf well in all kind of conditions while at the same time allows me to progress.
I've seen two boards in this channel that could fit that descripton, one is this holy grail and the other one is the V3 stealth.
I wanted to know which one is better for you guys, considering that im going to spend a lot of money and i want it to be durable.
Any help?

MultiDfify sure not a problem. I’m just sharing my feedback based on your comment of looking for an easy board to surf that will last. Not sure where you are located but both FW and HS ARE NOT MADE from China. They are made in Thailand. Trust me I hear this all the time ( I live in San Diego) all I can say I have ridden my FW boards in heavy Blacks and down to Baja waves and have never had an issue with my FW. I stoped riding CI boards because I had replace them every 4-6 months. Best of luck on the NB2. That board looks awesome, keep us posted on your thoughts.

@wef 0909 After some research i've seen that in my country both HS and firewire(tomo) surfboards are imported from china and made with materials of poor quality, so they snap very easily.
I'm gonna give a shot to the 5'9'' NB2, i know it's going yo be tough at first but i think i will handle It.

For someone who has been surfing for only two years, I would choose something more user friendly like the Hypto Krypto, Tomo Cymatic. Those two boards are daily drivers and can handle some some juice. I’m a huge fan of Tomo’s designs and think FW tech last the longest from the most.

MultiDfify I say go around 31-32 liters. This will be a radical transition and you have dedicate your time and efforts to get used to it and figure it out. Going from 45 liters to 32 will be a huge difference.

@Surf n Show Reviews Hi, sorry to bother you again, I've decided to get a NB2, I managed to find an online store that could get me one, but I'm having trouble deciding the adequate dims for me.

As I said, I'm 5'10'' tall and weigh 165-170lbs, currently surfing a 6'6'' board with about 45 liters (too big to make turns and pivoting) and I want this board to help me inprove my surfing during some years (It will be a one board quiver). I'll be surfing 1-6ft waves most of the time, sometimes hollower and better and other times mushier and flatter.

I tried a 6'0'' (not the neck beard 2, a generic local brand board) with 35 litres and it felt well but not enough to get the performance level I'm looking for.

I've thought a 5'8'' with 29'7 litres could be the best but I'm afraid about the possibilty of that being too small for me and having trouble adapting to it, what do you think?? I want it in Spine Tek construction for more durability.

@Surf n Show Reviews Just to make sure, you wouldn´t recommend the Holy Grail as a one board quiver?
It´s because i'm going to have trouble finding pyzel or CI boards where i live and and the future flex tech looks really durable (and the design looks sick hahaha), i want a board that lasts a few years.
If not, the NB2 looks godly, and the EPS tech looks very durable if i manage to find it anywhere.

MultiDfify Your liter range should be around 29-31. You might want a two board quiver... hollow waves 29-30 liter board and flatter mushy board 30-31 liters. 1 board quiver 30ish. I suggest using a liter range to help find a board with dimensions that are roughly your height to 2-3” shorter so you can keep it loose and easy to throw around. I like the NB2 and Phantom for you 1 board quiver. Cheers

I usually surf a beach break, sometimes there are hollow, good quality waves and other times the waves get flatter and slower, depending always on the tide. The size is always 1-6ft, any bigger and It gets dangerous.
I tried a 6'0'' board with 35 liters (a day the waves were flat and about 5ft) and It went really well but i felt like it It could still be smaller and less voluminous to get It really work for me and of course, to get It work in hollower waves.

Need your help Noel, i have an opportunity of buying this board at an awesome price but they only have two sizes that i am interested in, a 5`5 and a 5`7 , i am 5`6 and 150 lbs and consider my self an experienced surfer surfing waves from 1 to 5 feet on a regular basis. my boards are allways between 25 liters to 27 but probably could go a bit lower, i din`t know.... thanks for any help you can provide me and keep up with the amazing surf and show ;)

Firstly, thanks for putting these reviews up, they are hands down the best ones out there, and I’m clearly not the only one who appreciates them.
A quick question here if you happen to have the time:
How do you think this board would work on slightly more hollow barreling waves? The rocker seems pretty tame...
I’m almost certainly going to get one but wondering if I should also start looking for something with a little more rocker for a trip I’m planning out.

The Ghost is exactly what I had in mind for a stepup.
We’re probably going to the Mentawais in the low season with an intermediate group so I wouldn’t think they’ll be throwing us at shallow 8 foot barrels… but, you never know haha.
I think the HG would work wonders for me at home (New Zealand) as I’m mostly surfing a Rusty Smoothie (very close to a Hypto). I’m also considering the Phantom which would translate well into a Ghost.

Hi Noel, i've been watching a bunch of your reviews to buy my new sled, its helping me a lot, great work man, thanks. I have a doubt about the model and materials i should go to, would be good if you could help me with your insight. I'm from brazil, and we get a lot of mushy 2-4ft beach break situations. Im riding a PU DHD monster model, a kid f a daily driver, that isnt working on smaller days and flatter waves. I was thinking about a groveler to daily driver, and wanted to try the flex and fell of the new stringerless EPS boards. My first two choices are the FF HG or rocket wide spine tek. Any thoughts on wich one should work better for mushy and texture on mid sized days situations ? Cheers

I’m David from Costa Rica. I’m about to buy a holy grail in a month and they only have it in 5’7” (26.9L) and 5’9” (29.5L) stock here. I’m 5’8” and weigh 172lbs - so kind of like you. How did that 5’6” feel and would you pick that size for your regular short board? On the HS webpage I get a suggested volume range for this board from 29.64L to 27.69L. So it would seem the 5’7” would be a little short considering it’s 26.9L. Any suggestions on if I should get the 5’7” or 5’9” stock considering I usually surf at punchy beach breaks here in CR? I feel inclined towards the 5’9” to be conservative in a volume-wise way but am afraid it will feel too bulky. Thanks!!

One of the best daily drivers I have ever owned. The board is super responsive. It feels like a mix of a groveler and a high performance board morphed together. I caught one of the best waves of my life yesterday @ Blacks on this board. The side cut in the tail and helps you get into position right away

Would you say that the HG (for 1-5ft) as daily driver is a great combo with the SD Gama (for 5ft+) as step up? Or should a get a proper groveler like the Lost Psycho Killer and the Gama? I also really like the JS Hyfi Monstabox but I heard that is very fragile and people are breaking it very easily, is that correct?

Renato Braga My Monsta Box was fine... the HG will grovel but it’s not ideal compared to the Rocket Wide, Gremlin, or PJHP. I like the HG more as a Daily Driver 2-6’ surf. The Phantom is unreal too....so the HG and Phantom are my 2 favorite Daily Drivers right now. For a mini step up I like the Ghost.

TdTbMp The Phantom and HG are my two favorite Daily Drivers right now. The Phantom is very easy to surf and high performance surfing at will. The HG is very loose and fast. Both boards offer HPSB surfing in the pocket but the Phantom is a better paddler. I recommend both boards in 2-7’ surf. I like the HG in FF technology too. I would go PU on the Phantom if I lived in HI.

How would you compare the HG to an old school flyer or the OG flyer? Looking for an all arounder and i'm having a really hard time deciding what to get. My first shortboard was a flyer and i loved that thing. That was in 2011-2013 though. Haven't surfed a shortboard since (except my walden compact disc--6'1 or 6'3). I am 5'7 160-165 lbs and I used to surf my flyer at around 5'10 18 3/4 2 5/16 or something around there. I am not in the same shape as back then, but I am willing to work at it. I learned how to surf on that flyer. Loving the look of the HG though and I'm interested in trying it out if you think it can be a good way for me to jump back into shortboarding. I live on the eastcoast for some context but want to move west some day in the next year or two.

Thank you for the definitive input Noel! Stoked to put in an order for this board. I'll take your recommendations for fins as well. With time, I know I'll surf whatever I get just fine, but I just wanted to start up again with a good bang for your buck all arounder as this is my first shortboard in quite awhile and I don't plan on buying another for maybe another year unless I move closer to the ocean.

Paul Graves The HG is super loose, fast, and sick in the pocket. It needs a Large fin with a lot of rake to tone it down a bit. The N Flyer has a bit too much rocker for my likings in small waves. I like the OG much better compared to the New Flyer... but I were to choose between the 3 I would go HG. The HG was one of my favorites for 2017 in 2-6’ surf.

On the Holy Grail and Dark Side reviews you talked about the higher durability of PE construction but didn’t talk about durability and resistance to foot dents in the Future Flex construction . Durability and longevity are important characteristics to me. One of the things that’s great about your show is the non biased and intelligent information that is hard to come by in the industry. With so many functional options available these days it’s nice to get some quality input.

I would say that this FF Construction is roughly 30% stronger compared to PU or PE and the flex in the life of the board is going to last longer too. EPS foam pressure dents much less compared to PU and PE. Cheers

Chris Fan Yes it floats better compared to PU. I would say it’s close to 0.5 liters more buoyant. Some would say 1 liter but I think more like 1/2 liter.

Right now I ride a CI rocket nine I love it but wanna try something new I live in San Diego and the waves are pretty weak I usually surf seaside reef I was thinking Tomo EVO, Go Fish, Hypto krypto, or holy grail. I can surf backside pretty aggressively now when the wave allows me so I’d say I’m low intermediate any suggestions.

Toby Gibbons HG is insane!!! Nothing rides like it that I have ever surfed. Fast, loose and the FF tech is second to nothing. I would say the range is better on the HG in waves 1-6’.

It's great that someone like yourself is doing unbias reviews. I think the fins on the wall are a distraction and gives the video an advertisement feel rather than a genuine review. I think it would also help if you listed the Pros & Cons of the board. More importantly the Cons because I think that information in the most valuable to someone buying a board. I guess also provide the price of the board would help too.

Noel, great review and performance. Have you ever tried the machado's midas? If I ride an Hypto in 5'8 and feel comfortable do you think that I should ride the HG in 5'8 or 5'9? I'm 5'10 and 160 and intermediate level

You should go a bit shorter and wider and try something like the HG. It's such a sick paddler and gets into waves like cake. It's got a pretty aggressive tail rocker and you get the shortboard performance off of that while getting the benefit of paddling power with more volume in the chest. Plus, it's an epoxy tech, so that part is cool. Hardest part is getting used to the way an epoxy tech floats on the water compared to a PU. I will say that the Grail feels like a PU when on rail and I love that. It just slingshots out of turns. You could also go for Fever in the new Spine Tek. That looks really great. Of course a Pyzel would be a great choice too. If you go for a JJF maybe think about the tail you want. If you want more all around I would stay with a squash tail or something that will make it more of a daily driver. We are in a world of amazing choices. Keep us posted as to what way you go and how it works for you. :)

SoCal Boys yeah Danes board. I like them because they easier to surf for intermediate. I'm thinking jjf 2.0 .. maybe a ghost in future 2. I heard the pyzel glassing is better than ci. I had fin box replaced on sampler. But other than that glassing seems good. I'm wanting a bit more rocker but struggle to get into waves sometimes on certain kinds of boards. Example was the monster box and black and white. When up I loved them but I kooked so many waves on the take off. Otherwise I'd probably try my luck on a fever. Maybe in a year or so....

Pyzel would be sick. What are you looking at? I love my CI pu Fever and my HG!!! Don't be afraid of the epoxy again. It's just a different vibe, but I get it if you are surfing PU as much as you are. And yes, stay as close to your volume as possible. My Fever is 5'9 pu 25 liters and my HG is 5'6" around 25 liters too. I think sticking around the same volume is key. Unless of course you are going step-up which is fine since you are riding it in bigger surf.I will say the Grail sling shots me out of every manuever. It goes just like Noel surfs it in the vid. I heard the Sampler is pretty sick too. Is that Dane's board?

SoCal Boys that is some wise advice. I'm riding 34.5 and most boards around this size for me work. I got a 36 litre board which as you said turns slow motion. I kind of like it though lol.. for bigger waves. But you are right on with volume. I went through epoxy phase but I can't get enough of the sampler in pu. I'm intermediate so it fits my skill. The hg looks mean but I'm scared of the epoxy. I think I'm going pyzel on my next board.

Yeah, don't worry about Jordy because none of us surf like him. lol. I will say that I consider myself to be an advanced surfer and I have ridden many a board. The HG and the CI Fever are the two best boards I have ever owned hands down. Noel's channel is great because it saves us from dropping coin on a board that just doesn't work. Boards are not cheap. I think the number one rule you should have is staying close to the volume you know works for you. For example, over the summer I found a custom used SKX by Tomo and I bought it because I really wanted one. It was 27.8 liters and I usually ride around 25 to 26 for my daily driver. I tried to convince myself it would work. The board was super fast and responsive, but felt like I was going in slow motion through my some of my turns. Had a long talk with Noel and pinned it down to too much volume. So, if you get a board, just get your volume set and then you can be a bit more flexible with the dims. I can't tell you how great it is to have a 2 board quiver that I love so much. Now, if I could just heal up my MCL injury and stop skating the bowls I would be good. lol. Nothing worse than just staring at a HG and Fever sitting on the rack in the garage. Good luck and post back to let us all know what you get. Keep shralping my friend. :)

I have a PU Fever and a HG too, and both boards are beyond epic. IF you went Fever in Spine Tek you would be beyond stoked.. You really can't go wrong with either board. 2 of the best boards I have ever ridden. Good luck!

You always good but you seemed to really be connected with this board more than any other I have seen you ride. Why wouldn't a CT guy ride one of these? Kelly seems to be the only one trying different ideas.

Jack Straw I did connect with this Holy Grail. The CT guys are the best and some of them ride boards in different constructions like Kelly. I think Ace rode a Monsta 6 by JS in the HYFI construction in one event in 2017. The Pros like a PU because they are consistent and predictable but some of them will ride EPS when the waves get smaller. I think some new constructions coming out will inspire some of the tour guys to ride them in contest in the next couple years.

I know these are really two different boards but for a daily driver how would you compare it to the Hypto Krypto? Did you ride this near your normal volume? I am 5'7 " and 180 so I take a bit more volume.

Walter Schubert That’s a tough comparison... the Hypto has that wide hybrid nose so you can ride that a few inches shorter compared to the HG. The HG is quick and responsive like a normal performance board but still grovels. I think the HG surfs like a HP board and the Hypto is more of a hybrid.

Hello Noel, I am trying to evolve in my surfing, my surf level is medium rather low, weight over 170 and I am 5.7, I am currently riding a V3 Rocket 5.9 - 19.75 - 2.38 - 30l coal wrap and I am looking for a board that allows me to evolve a little more in general. I usually surf in Portugal (Peniche).

I'm looking at Holy grail at 5.10, Love buzz at 5.11 or Evo at 5.7 I would like to know your advice considering that I do not have much surfing level.

Great review on a board I've heard nothing but praise from ordinary journeyman surfers as well. At first glance I always think Noel is Slater cuz of the obvious, but his power, style and flow are so similar that it makes it look like he's making any board work. It's his honest, basic opinion though that translates to the every person surfer out there cuz he's riding off the rack models. The shapers and board manufacturers are lucky to have him. Always a class act Noel even in the face of criticism. Keep up the great work my man!

Do you have a T Low or have you ridden 1? I had one a few of years ago and it went pretty good... but I think it was a bit long for me. I had the stock 6'0" at 29.1 Liters. I weighed 190 at the time and the board felt really long and my turns felt like I was in slow motion. The bottom line was I needed to drop 25 pounds so I could surf a shorter board with a performance outline. The Weirdo Ripper worked a lot better for me then and it still had the rocker to surf some bigger waves. I would be down to try the T Low again but I would still have to order it custom. Cheers....

Thats a tough one.... both of these two boards are in my favorites right now. I would say the Holy Grail if your looking for a board that goes sick in the 1-3 surf too.

FB It does have less volume but this is what they sent me to review. It paddled and floated me great. I usually ride roughly 26-27 liters and this board felt like 26 liters. Cheers

The Sampler is sick in 1-3+ plus but not enough tail rocker to be a daily driver in 4-6' surf. The Holy Grail goes mental in 1-6' surf. Because of the tail rocker the Holy Grail can handle a little bigger surf.

Sorry for my english and thanks for your job.
Isn't it a problem to change dimensions of a shape like you would do?
Won't it change too much spirit of the board?
I mean HS boards last years and feel I like but but could surf it narrower than the normal range and order custom boards too, but it's not easy to have serious recommendations, directly with the shaper because of the distance from France.

My boards are both stock 5'6 x 19 5/8 x 2 5/16 Liters 25.7. I would like to have a custom made and maybe go something like 5'8" x 18 3/4 x 2 5/16. Ride it as a Performance Board. I think it would go MENTAL.

Some observations. There is still paper of the stickers that the fin installation guy puts when installing the boxes, which means the brand has a poor quality control. You could expect this from a cheap board made in Thailand. But I m guessing that one was made in California. Even worst.
On the other hand this kind of "tech" is not new. It has been made and tested several years ago, if you have been close to the surfboard industry you should know. Brands like HS are good in marketing, so are others. Unfortunately shows like this misinform the surfer.
In an era of easy access to everything and social media its easy to make sales to the naive consumers.
Give them fancy looking boards, give them carbon, show them rad tails that dont perform better than a boring squash tail. More finboxes, more channels, more sales.
Whats old is new. Pathetic surfers.
That pitty black stripe with 'Calvin Klein' look.... give me a break.

Besides that, I like the show and your surfing makes the difference.

hs boards go great if you can surf a shortboard , the future flex tech has been around for years and it sells because it works and makes you surf faster , i might not be as old or bitter as you olaf but ive surfed nearly every day for 20 years had hundreds of boards all different great shapes fads self shapes big name small name old school and modern tech and believe trust me hs boards are legit

I know the Future Flex Construction has been around for 10 years but it's new to me and I can really feel the spring and pop in turns. These two boards were made in Australia. I know a lot of the new Constructions are being made overseas (Thailand) etc... but I started this show to help the surf community learn more about surfboards and validate the claims from Manufactures.

If I thought this board was a gimmick and just good marketing and i didn't give an honest review then we would loose our credibility. This board is legit and so is the FF Construction. Cheers!!!

My current boards range from 30.5 up to 31.3ltrs. My shortest board is 5.10 at 31.3 ltrs. Ability I would say intermediate, but have never been a super strong paddler.

Wow, gotta get one under my feet then. It looks pretty amazing! I'm in love with the Fever for sure though. Surfed it at D Street and Cardiff Reef on a few good days. Works amazing in both beach breaks and the slow moving Cardiff Reefs. I'm really blown away at how fast and snappy the board is in a variety of waves. Would love to get my hands back on a epoxy tech. Love the way both a poly and newer tech feels. I think the HG would be a great tech to have in contrast to the Fever PU. Either way, we live in epic times with lots of sick choices. Hey Noel, Nuther excellent review!! Just a thought....It'd be interesting to hear reviews of the different surfboard constructions out there and how they compare. IE: weight, durability, flex, etc. Now that I am in the market for a board purchase, I am now more torn after watching this review between this board, the Untitled, and maybe the Heckler in Torsion Spring....and thanks for that, ha! Anyways, the excellent surfing footage really helps show how the boards work and thanks for having the best reviews out there !

My pleasure... I agree the added weight to the EPS will help in the wind and reduce chatter that EPS boards have. The weight would be caused from a heavier glass job which makes the board a bit more durable too. The Carbon is a bit lighter so I don't think to much added weight is coming from that. If you get one please make sure to hit me up and let us all know how it the Rusty Torsion Spring Technology feels under your feet.

Good advice Noel! My local surf shop up here in Northern Orange County has a Heckler in Torsion Spring that I've felt up and interestingly it does not appear to be much lighter than standard PU, probably due to the carbon/kevlar fiber. I figure that may be a plus during moderate off shore and/or bumpy conditions as compared to an ultra light board such as a carbon wrap. Regardless, thanks again for the excellent content and I hope you are scoring waves!

Stoked you like the show. The Holy Grail and Untitled are both sick and I recommend the FF Construction for sure. The Torsion Spring construction looks good from Rusty too. I know the Torsion Spring Technology uses an Extruded Foam which is a closed cell foam meaning it will not pull in water if it gets a ding. The flex characteristics are good on the Extruded EPS foam too. I have not tried the Torsion Spring yet but XTR uses the Extruded EPS Foam core and I love it. If you choose to go with a Rusty I would suggest talking to them over the phone to make sure the Heckler is the right board for the Torsion Spring Technology. Cheers

Out of all your reviews this year, I think this board was one of the funnest to watch you surf on. I really enjoyed My HG at lowers the other day, it's a keeper. I know you love and prefer to ride smaller boards, but It looked a tad small for you in the bigger waves. Next big anticipated review...Gamma baby! Thanks again for another polished review!

Cheers glad you liked it. Yes that swell was some of the best surf I have ever had for a whole week with perfect weather and tides. We split the good surf up between 4 different board models so the other reviews coming up have sick waves too!!

Oh yeah for sure, ya man your favorites are stacking up. At this pace you're going to have to do a showdown of you're favorites! So I've really come to appreciate a single concave and a flat deck cause it flies! Is this board comparable to that feel? You looked loose and like you were hitting your turns the way you wanted to. So if this was considered a daily driver, what would it be comparable to in CI board quiver? The boards you've been reviewing look really fun and how you got lowers to what looks like to yourself is unbelievable. I know you're stoked! Cheers and I am glad you liked the review. I like boards that have a single concave too... they are really fast. This board kind of stands alone for me and I have not ridden something that feels like it either. The tail and overall design is very unique and silky smooth. Sorry i don't have a board at the moment to compare it too in the CI line up.

A great daily driver for me in the CI quiver is the Fever at 5'8 x 19 x 2 5/16 or the stock 5'8" OG Flyer. Those two boards go good for me in waves 2-6'. Small waves 1-3' still the Sampler and Pod Mod.

Noel, how tall are you? I just ordered a HG I'm 5'6" I ordered a 5'4" but I keep reading get one 1" sorter than a Hypto which means I may have ordered an inch too long.

@James Dean yes, i did speak for myself. I wanted to see him surf a break that regular surfers surf. Lowers is world class. He's already said he's going to pick an average break. I think it would be cool to see the diff in his surfing.

Yeah I think a lot of viewers try to pin point it to a specific board but if you rip you rip, doesn't really matter too much about the board as long as you've got more or less the right board for the conditions. You don't see too drastic differences between the boards in his surfing but again he's still able to feel which ones click more than others. Fins are definitely becoming more and more interesting, Noel doing an excellent job on explaining the different fin templates.

U rode the Holly Grail and the Untiteled by Haydenshapes, both in the Future flex construction, which one would u take with u to the punchy beach breaks of costa rica, if u could only take one?

Depends on how big the punchy beach break is and your skill level. I would take the Holy Grail for Costa Rica and I would ride beach break barrels up 6' on it... after that I would switch to a Performance board with a pulled in round tail.

Have u ever considered doing to tutorials on particular manoeuvres I think they would be really interesting and helpful as there isn’t that many good tutorials on more advanced things like airs and carves and getting vertical cheers harry
