I used to build the 420lxf and 4 verado 400's was plenty of power, It would pull 70mph. I will say the 530lxf looks to be too much. LXF stands for "luxury fishing" and I didn't see anything about fishing. Yeah, the salesman sucks.

Only total idiots will buy such a mega-nincompoop sled. But then again, that means it will probably sell very well here in the good ol' US of A. Honestly...what kind of an idiot would buy something like this? I think even four outboards are a sign of stupidity...but this takes all. The whole vessel looks like something a dude dreamed up while high on cocaine.

Two thumbs down, whoever designed this boat should be fired just because of the wasted time and cost of designing such a poor design. For 2 million dollars you can buy a 80 to 120 foot used yacht still in good condition. Nope wont be considering this boat.

6 outboards look really really FUGLY so I have to say the owner did not consider this very well and is a huge fail for such a great boat. 4 outboards Max for any boat and if not enough power, need to move up to Seven marine.

Yo, get a better sales person, its just a camera, not even a real audience, and never talk slowly and take 1st grader period pauses, so annoying. I would never get 6 engines, much less mercuries. But thats my opinion and what the hell do I know. Also, IN-DEPTH????, NO it wasn't

I’m just curious how much it costs to work on 6 engines compared to one big engine. And why you’d choose outboard over direct drive, is there no room on the boat or in the haul for a direct drive system? And when I refer to 6 engines maintenance I mean vs one big direct drive, like the 6.6l diesel platform fine tuned to emissions compliant.
ben hoysradt
ben hoysradt - 5 years ago
That makes sense. I guess a reliable high horse power inboard engine would be hard to contend with the convenience of outboard engines. However not having to look at those engines on the back of the boat and being able to have free space for fishing or other activities at the stern would be nice. I was thinking with the torque that can be produced by an inboard Diesel engine, that the torque would be sufficient enough to get on plane and keep the boat moving at comparable speeds
sdvten
sdvten - 5 years ago
A single 6.6l inboard in that boat likely would not even get it on plane. To get the boat to maybe hit 50mph with diesel inboards you would likely need at least two MAN I6730 engines. They weigh approx 2700lbs a piece without drives, shafts and supporting equipment. They can be made to fit inside the hull but they are going to take up a LOT of room, both below deck and above deck. Remember the engines need enough room to service them. They are not cheap to buy, install or service. Especially when they need a rebuild. Two Mercury 1350 inboards (gas) should get you to at least 70 in the 530. They are fairly light compared to diesels and will take up less hull space. However one 1350 with drive is over $200k. They will suck 91 octane a very good rate as well. A 400hp Merc Outboard weighs 670lbs each, has plenty of access for service, has cheaper service costs, takes up next to no in hull space (needs hydraulic pump for steering) and are easily replaced if you blow one. An outboard can be pulled and replaced in only a few hours. There is a (for example) Mercury dealer around every corner for service and support. Not to mention with multiple engines you get good speed out of them with fuel economy that isn't too bad for what they are. There is a reason big outboard powered boats have become more popular. Talk to some of the companies that make them, a large portion of the customers buying them are former or current owners of sportfish or convertible boats.
Evil Fluff
Evil Fluff - 5 years ago
I would not buy a boat with 5 outboard motors on it. Three inboards would be a good choice and cheaper all around and would give it a cleaner look. And jet prop would quick responses in the water.

Wow....6 engines looks badass. Maint not so much, but owner definitely has redundancy. Could probaly loose 4 and be able to troll home. If you can afford that boat you can afford the fuel. As for diesels it makes more sense, but maint on a diesel can be the cost of a new outboard. Also draft will definitely be deeper. Outboards are usually way cheaper to maintain. Plus and minus for both - pick your poison.

Well to each their own. This sales adviser needs to know his product much more it's a day head bud..., 6 engines only net you 10 mph more over 5 engines yet it's $25k per engine... So... Why?
The finishing below deck is okay but are you buying it to cruise, fish... He didn't really get into why I should look at these guys over anyone else..smh. Fire his ass

On the water 10mph is quite a bit of an increase, especially for a boat that weighs 35k lbs. An extra $40k for an extra 10mph on a $2m boat is not bad at all.

@Panther 74 Escaping I honestly doubt he cares about the 6 engines. Wealthy people want that shit, we're plebs on YouTube typing in the comment section. This guy just wants to sell these things to make some money, and probably thinks the novelty is cool because if you have ever been to a boat show they are boring as fuck so it is fun to at least see something different even if you don't love it. Boat shows are mostly just a sea of white fiberglass tubs lined up like a used car lot.
