I wonder how this would do in rougher water? Like when you get caught in the middle of the lake when the wind comes up and the waves get a little more robust? I think I would be in if it was 4 feet wide and 12 foot long. But this is such a great alternative to a Hobie Pro Angler .

Are the two scuppers sufficient? It looks like the idea is to self bail when on plane. But if you do not use an outboard, it would not plane. But I guess in reality, I doubt anyone would but this unless they intend to put an outboard on it. At under 1k I think they have a winner for sure. I just wish there were some more scupper holes.

@Jason S I agree. I think they did a good job with a price point and the features. If it only had the capability for pedals it would be probably the best all-around kayak. Interestingly the trolling motor outboard motor at least couple hundred if not close to a Grand depending on what you get which puts the price tag the right on up there. I wonder if it paddles any good

They really put a lot of thought into this product but maybe they should have reduced the options. Why have an electric motor pod when you can just place any trolling motor on the back. Interesting for sure. Base price seems okay but that will just have to depend on how much those accessories are going to go for. With the price on flipper drives dropping now that they are out of copyright Im not sure this boat can compete. It is much easier to put a trolling motor on the back but wont have a peddle drive. Unless they can figure out a way to put one in that pod hole. That pod insert will have to be ata decent price or this whole boat will be pointless. If its as much as the boat then there are better more versatile option for a small boat. They also need a better way of controlling it from the seat or without that standing bar. That thing will make fishing while sitting very difficult.

the ''boat'' needs beachmaster wheels which are retractable wheels that are screwed into the stern. What it also needs is some form of jackplate to go into very shallow waters. The throttle control should be with wires like the steering because you can place a lot of equipment in the aft section ( behind the seat). A good example you won't be able to place a cooler there.

Yea, The Suzuki is the least expensive high end 2.5 outboard. It is pretty loud though. The Yamaha 2.5 is a lot more quiet but more expensive. Since you are used to silent battery power you might want to look at the Yamaha.

@Aliex Folgueira Hobie does hold it's value, but honestly I don't even want to pay used prices. I actually can afford one, but that just seems ridiculous when it's still a plastic boat. And then all the other kayak manufacturers followed Hobie's pricing structure when they put out their own pedal kayaks. Can't really blame them, but that doesn't mean I'm buying one when they're ALL overpriced. This is the first well featured new boat I've seen in a long time that's actually reasonably priced.

@Cory Hamilton that's what I was thinking -- base model with a Feelfree seat, nice (maybe even used) 2.5 hp outboard, and then some sort if DIY trolling motor using the sonar pod. That would be a sweet boat for not a lot of total money (even cheaper without the Feelfree throne chair).

I am sure you can add any outboard. They recommend the Suzuki because it is a great motor and it is quiet a bit lighter than the other 2.5 four stroke motors.

It is a very simple hull, super cheap. With all including outboard, motor pod, standing bar etc I bet it is close to $3000 but if you already have all that boom, I bet you can add any aftermarket stand up bar motor or rudder kit

I am also very interested in this boat. But , I don't think I would ever take it out without my trolling or small outboard. That's what makes it special. My other kayaks would definitely have an edge over the base model. As far as the tiller handle being right behind the seat, I have a Bass Hunter where the seat is in the center. It is not as handy as sitting off center like other boats but it is not that bad. Although my seat swivels. Ideally I think you would want the motor fixed and use rudder control.

Yea, It is a Jon boat first. You definitely want a motor. But I guarantee you this thing paddles better than any other "Boat" on the market. I have had to paddle my 10ft Bass Hunter about a mile after a motor malfunction and it sucked!! I would have much rather paddled the Bass 100.

A kid with only one rod, under Miami Bridge may get more fish than that...

@Aliex Folgueira What Everybody needs is a seat for kayak "Side fishing" the only I know is the Bass Pro at 99U$D but needs some adaptation and improvement.
Once you seat there, you don't want to come back to the past.
Every Kayak builder must consider a rotating "kayak fishing seat"...as a sale option.
None has noticed so far, all the seats are meant to paddle and NONE made for fishing!!

Sweet bro! Wish it had at least 2 scuppers to drain water. Also it's missing lights! It's under power so it needs navagation lights. Do they have an option for that?

I was a little concerned when I got the Hobie Compass because it has less scuppers than the others but it is the driest ride ever. Kayak design is coming along way and drainage problems are being solved with advanced hull design not just adding more holes in the boat!

Good point! Sooo many videos I can make wkth this boat, led lights and so on! It has three drain scuppers front, behind the seat and the outboard one, the one behind the seat is like a mega scupper hole
