Put LARGE AND FAT fins on the side, for Twin Fish status boards. Add the pivot fin or the small 2 trailers in the back. It is my GO TO in anything soft, couldn't stand it until I made the fin change.

Thanks for the info Keven. Go with the 6'1 http://www.realwatersports.com/lost-puddle-jumper-lib-tech-mbc-6-1 this will offer the float you're looking for to maximize wave count, while still being much more maneuverable than the longboards you have been riding.

Hope you score some great waves soon!

I've been surfing 9"2' boards this season. I used to skimboard Victorias mostly but as I get older I am over the running :) Most of the time I go out its ankle to maybe overhead in California. I basically go in the warm months mostly. I never have a problem getting up on longboards, but the few times I have used shorter boards I get frustrated and head right back to the long board. After watching many of your youtube videos it looks like these short, fat boards could be answer. oh i basically go down the line so I don't think I link turns. I can wave ride from skimming though which is going out to the wave and turning into a barrel or heading down the line. I hope this makes sense :)

Thanks for the info Kevin. What other boards have you been riding and how's your surfing when you do get out? Are you linking turns or still working on your pop up? Where are you surfing? Providing this extra info will get us the information needed to set you up with the right size.

Help !!
what is a better small wave board for me, I'm 180 lbs 43yrs surfing beach breaks.
a lib tech 5.7-- 33,7 ltr Puddle jumper or a lib tech lost Short round 6.0 -- 34 ltr

It does fine in choppy conditions and windswell... because this board is surfed with more of a shortboard style, it does really well fitting into the tight pockets of small wind waves. Of course also works well with it's nice and clean. Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato +real watersports

+Offshore52 - these boards are in stock and ready to rock at REALwatersports.com - we ship to Germany and everywhere else in the world. We just shipped a board to Germany last week. Pick up one of these boards from us and maybe make your friends jealous because they couldn't get one? :)

Thanks Chris! That really helps and 5'9 will be my choice. If it just wouldn't be sold out everywhere in Germany ;-)

Thanks a lot for your answer! Do you think it works with a windswell at 5 Bf and kind of choppy water or does it need glassy waves to perform?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 7 years ago
+Offshore52 thanks for your question. For your weight and skill level, and because your goal is to do some better turns and maneuvers, 5'9" should be the right size for you. Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato +real watersports

+REAL Watersports Hi! Like your review and would also appreciate some help. I am 6'1 at 183lbs and intermediate (paddling green waves, going left and right, want to improve my turns now). I want to go for smaller waves with more or less power. Is this the right board for my skills and if so, would you recommend 5'9 or rather 5'11? Big thanks in advance!

A Big THANK YOU Cris!!!!!!

REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 8 years ago
+ronald roodhart Thanks for your question. Puddle Jumper is the dedicated small wave design so a better choice for what you're looking for. I'd go even bigger based on your body weight and this being a dedicated small wave board (I am 180lbs advanced 29y/o and my small wave boards are minimum 34.5L), so depending on skill level and paddle strength you should be looking at the 5'9" or maybe even 5'11" in this board. Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato +real watersports

How does this board compare to the CI High-5? What's your personal preference?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 8 years ago
+R Fe Thanks for your question. Two very different boards overall. The High-5 is a hybrid fish design with a larger sweet spot (can put your feet anywhere), whereas the Puddle Jumper is a dedicated groveler that is designed to be surfed "locked and loaded" with your back foot over the traction pad. The surfer has some ability to dictate the style but overall you can think of the High-5 as drawing lines a little closer to a classic "fish" shape whereas the Puddle Jumper wants to be surfed like a "high-performance shortboard" even in tiny waves. Puddle Jumper will have the edge in smaller/weaker waves for sure. Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato +real watersports

Thier own fin sytem? Why.
Richard Shapiro
Richard Shapiro - 7 years ago
cause lib always builds their own stuff. the fin box is a lot lighter than the FCS system, and stronger.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 8 years ago
+Qais ' Zix Thanks for your question! The Lib Tech fin boxes are compatible with any two-tab (FCS classic) style fins. This style of fin is available from a variety of manufacturers. To view all fins that will work with the Lib Tech boards, check out this link: http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/fins?fin_system=427

How much do you weigh? I'm 6'4 225-230lbs. I'm worried it's not enough volume for a groveller. Do they plan to do a 6'0 or 6'1? I notice they have that size in the UK.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 8 years ago
+Nathan Eastaugh thanks for the extra info! Trip is approx. 220lbs and he loves his 5'11" Lib Tech for small-to-average waves. I think it will be ample float for you, but if you want to hit the easy button in small waves, you can always go with a 6'1" or 6'2" PU/Poly for a great volume boost. When you go with PU/Poly, you only sacrifice a small amount of durability over the Lib Tech, and the PU/Poly does have a really nice, lively flex pattern. Regardless of your board construction, if you treat it well and maybe get a day bag for it, it's going to last you a long time. Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato +REAL watersports

General FL waves, have another 6'4 21 2 3/4 40 L good wave board. Been surfing for 30 years. Want Lib Tech so it last longer. Twicw a week during winter.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 8 years ago
+Nathan Eastaugh thanks for your question. First thing to note is that the Puddle Jumper is available in every size including custom order when you switch over to the PU/Poly constructions. Currently the Lib Tech versions are only offered in a set size run of 5 different sizes 5'3" - 5'11".
Can you provide a little more info so we can make the perfect recommendation?
1- Is this a dedicated groveler (small wave sessions only), or do you want this board have more range when the surf is better? Where does this board fit in your quiver?
2- How would you describe your skill level? How often do you surf and how long have you been surfing?
We'll look for your reply and get you dialed in to the perfect size! -Chris Stellato +realwatersports

@surferbum618 No, Futures will not work with this board. This board needs something that is compatible with FCS classic two-tab, you can see some of the fins that will work with this board here: http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/fins?fin_system=427
