7/10 definitely not, this is obvious error since other awesome albums are now in the same or even worse categhory. But it still kinda suprised me in a positive way. I’m confused I mess with yachts but how is this album a 7/10. I’m sorry but this album was hella uninspired and if you play the album on shuffle and the yachty songs without features play it just sounds like one long ass song the songs are repetitive and lazy. I can tell yachty doesn’t work long on his projects and I mean it’s cool to rap about money, pussy, designer and shitting on others ig but dawg he has so much potential to do so much more and I’ve I’m a huge fan of lil b ive still yet to hear any influence from lil b into yachtys songs, and I’ve only heard a few of his old songs since he deleted this all a while ago. I want yachty to do big things but bro that album was trash boom was the only good song and it’s sad that ddg is better than him and actually puts more thought into his songs then him. Yachty loves money so hopefully he’s saving it cus if he drops another mediocre album with hella features attempting to get the features to save his trash ass album then it’s wraps for him.

Anthony has a boner for Lil Yachty bc he loves his brand more than the music. Yachty's label has been going hard to make yachty appeal to young kids and teenagers, hence the Teenage emotions album title, colorful music videos etc. anyone who hates on Yachty thus looks like someone bullying a young kid "just having fun". Anthony knows this and wants a young audience to like his videos and reviews so every now and then he gives some trash mumble rap targeted for High Schoolers a good review. I mean seriously, a 7? Did we listen to the same album bro? Take the album cover-driven aestethic away, all the very expensive beats and what do you have left? All trends rap trends that Yachty adds zero originality to. "Its not that deep" says anthony. Yeah, its shallow. This album is equally as awful as Teenage Emotions, maybe worse. So for me, Anthony is only giving this album a good score to appeal to High Schoolers so he looks less like an angry old head and more like someone "hip".

Lil Yachty doesn't take himself seriously and he's not by any means a skilled rapper which is fine. I don't think rappers nowadays have to be complex lyricists to create music that's received positively but that being said, I still think this album is fucking trash and doesn't establish itself at all with which direction it's trying to go in. LB1 had a consistent goofy approach all the way from start to finish which was a very entertaining listen. This album felt like Teenage Emotions listening to it from start to finish because it was just very inconsistent and boring.

I truly do not understand this review. I enjoyed Lil Boat 1, and went into this with solid expectations, but man was it a let down. I agree with almost nothing you had to say. All of the aspects of yachty that made him likeable on his first project are nowhere to be found, except for songs like She Ready and Love me Forever. The production was a snore and every song sounded like the most paint-by-numbers basic trap rap I could possibly imagine for Yachty. Half the time it sounds like he's just doing his best impression of Migos, Carti (Count Me In), or ASAP Ferg (BOOM! ad-libs) or some other rapper. I don't think there's more than a few songs worth returning to. It feels like you're trying so hard to validate him for reasons I do not understand. It doesn't have to be deep. I like fun music. But this is frankly just bad, fun music.

You people need to understand: Fantano is grading these albums on their own scales. He takes personal enjoyment into account as well as the artist's personal efforts compared to their past endeavors. I doubt by giving both DAMN and Lil Boat 2 7's he's saying they're on par with each other. Those records are in completely different lanes. Giving this album a 7 isn't saying a lot by the way. It's the highest grade melon has given a Yachty project. It's saying he did better than his last attempt but has relatively stagnated in quality since his first mixtape. Because you don't like the project isn't license to diagnose the guy as clinically insane or whatever.

Let me break it down for you guys. When an obese child does a backflip it's incredible. When a gymnast does a backflip it's less impressive. Lil Yachty releases a fairly good album after a lot of hot garbage since Lil Boat, gets a 7. Kendrick Lamar releases damn. after TPAB, section.80, and g.k.m.c. gets a 7. Fantano doesn't see Lil Boat 2 and DAMN. as equally good albums. They're just graded on separate scales, taking into account more than just how good the album was by itself.

(to Ethan Williams) That's still what I said. For example, say Fantano had as much enjoyment out of Artist 1's album as Artist 2's album, so he gives the two the same rating (say, 7/10). He's not trying to relate the two in quality but based on how much enjoyment he had. *There's still a comparison being drawn here regardless*. However, what David Runyon is saying is that Fantano would say "Artist 2's album had crazy things that can be done by other people too, but I'm going to give it a 10/10 because he never does them otherwise, while Artist 1's album does the exact same things, but he/she does them all the time so I'll give Artist 1's album a 6/10". This just doesn't happen with Fantano's grading. His grading system is more well-thought-out than to be relative to the artist. The scale isn't meant to encourage artists to do better by giving them a good rating for trying some new tricks, it's to separate the "good" from the "okay" and the "okay" from the "trash". Therefore, I took issue with David Runyon's comment. I hope this clarifies what I meant earlier.

That's a sentiment Joe Budden always uses: "I only ever compare artists to themselves." Meaning, he's not comparing an artist against every other one out there, it's more of grading them based on their specific expectations, I guess. I think that's the safest and most integrous way to review music, if you're gonna do it.

Your sophisticated analysis and review on the album gives waaaaay more credit than this shit of an album deserves.
There is not a single thing in the album that was overworked or looked after at the very least.
The whole album seemed like it was written on the fly, the lyrics were generic as fuck and most of the productions instead of saving Lil Yachty's faulty flow they amplified it making the whole song unbearable to even follow.

I don't know where you get all these absurd ideas and constructive criticism from, the album could have easily been made in a week, at the most.

4/10 and I am being generous (1/10 for each of the 4 songs listed above)

You all need to understand fantano rates by category, say something of a trap rap essence can get a better score than something of a higher caliber so to speak happens because it is a good Trap album. If it’s a good trap album it will get a good score because trap is its respective category vise versa for experimental or conscious. Guess I’m sticking to DEHH for my Hip Hop reviews for now on. I’m not sure Fantano can do an unbiased review of music anymore. Sure music is subjective but BT2 is defiantly the best hip hop project of the year so far. In terms of hooks, flows, bars, features, and production BT2 was probably his best mixtape ever. Even people who aren’t big fans of Logic are fucking with it.

Seems like eveyone’s hating on yachty because he’s young and has ”lil” in front of his name.. what makes this tape so bad to you? It’s fun, entertaining, solid beats, fun lines, good flows, solid bangers! Yachty really is slept on. He can rap so much better than many of the other younger hip hop artists. He has his own wave and if you dont like it, you dont need to attack others who like it. And you really should and can ignore a review by a guy on the internet you dont even know.
