I got my hands on two Carbon Wrap stock boards with nearly the exact same dimensions. Both boards are round tails and 1 board has Radiator 4 Channels and the other does not. Channel Board DIMS: 5'7" x 18.88 x 2.25 Liters 26 Board without Channels: 5'7" x 18.75 x 2.25 Liters 25.5 I had fun on both boards in 1-5' waves and the performance level of the Baby Buggy was exceptional to my standards. Both boards had great speed, maneuverability, and were very versatile in all the wave sizes and heights I tested them in. The board without channels felt the best under my feet with just the right amount of control and release with the round tail combination. The board with the Radiator 4 Channels had a little too much traction for my likings in small waves. I think the Radiator 4 channels would go better for me in a Baby Buggy with a squash or swallow tail in small waves. All in all the Baby Buggy is LEGIT in my book as an epic small wave performance board that can do it all. I highly recommend this Baby Buggy in the Carbon Wrap construction for it's lively feel under foot and extra spring you get in and out of each turn!

Hi Noel, I really like your reviews, thank you. I love my Baby Buggy and was just wondering if you could please tell me which of these two Haydenshapes boards feels most similar to the Baby Buggy: the Holy Grail, or the Untitled?
John F

@Surf n Show Reviews no worries, thanks mate.
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 5 years ago
John F That’s a tough one... neither feel like the BB. The Untitled and HG are both a bit looser compared to the BB. The HG needs a Raked fin for it to go insane. I would say all three boards have their own feel and surf different. Sorry....

Hey Noel! Just grabbed one of these in a swallow tail in PU. Was curious on your thoughts on a future fins for beach break waves in 3ft plus. I’ve been toying with the HS2s which have been great in smaller surf but I feel I am having trouble with a quick maneuver when to finish out my ride because of the combo with the swallow tail, especially when the waves start getting a little more punch. Looking forward to your feed back and thanks again for having these great reviews!

Jeremy Ryan Maybe try a Neutral fin like the F8, F6, or Jack Freestone. If you want a Neutral fin that’s a bit stiffer you can go JJF Tech Flex.

I rode Bb last year in 1foot wave and I returned it to the dealer because it was very difficult to catch waves in a small day for me with this board (it was about 27,8 lt and I am a low intermediate level) I got the pukas El loco 5.7 30,5 lt and surf a year. Now I find pukas rather big cause I am 62kg so I am thinking to go maby for lost short round 28.2 lt or pukas link 28 lt

@Surf n Show Reviews Thanks for the quick reply Amigo ! I bought the Medina fins last night online and just cancel the order after your advice ,ha ,ha anyways I ride the PC3 & UL3 with a 5'5 New flyer & a 5'9 K12 and just got the Performers Carbon PC in Medium for only $73 . can't wait to rid them with my Baby Buggy ! thanks again will def look for the AM fins .
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
Domingo Martinez For your weight I say Medium at most. If your surfing hollow beach breaks then I would go AM1 or AM Medium. If your surfing peaky Beach break then I would go M Performers, or M jack Freestone.

Hi Noel, love the show and respect for putting in time and effort to ride and analytically breakdown boards feel and design. Currently ride BB in carbon and love it. Goes in anything up to 6 maybe more depending on steepness of wave. I'm 73kg 5'11 Advanced surfer and dims are 5'8 27.5 litres. Looking for something for when it gets bigger with reef days thrown in. Just wondering if you have any recommendations? Always ridden 5'11 to 6'2 boards and currently have a 6'1 performance shortie for when it gets bigger, unfortunately it feels too long these days after riding a smaller board :/ Need something a little more refined and controlled once it gets bigger. Currently looking at Lost Sabotaj or Beach buggy 2 which i know you haven't tested, would be interested in your recommendations based on boards you’ve tested. Im thinking something around the 5'10 5'11 mark. Thanks
Ps do you think Pyzel Phantom would be much difference to the BB in bigger steeper stuff? with its more refined rails etc
DF

Thanks for the insight and speedy response Noel. Look forward to future reviews. Cheers
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
DF I think the Phantom would go mental in waves up to 7’+. Beyond that maybe transition to a Ghost. I would go custom on a Ghost and keep it short... mine was 5’9” in my review... if I could do it again I would 5’7”. It’s got incredible hold and very easy to surf for a HPSB. Where I live it’s not super steep so I think 5’7” would keep it super responsive and still have excellent hold. That’s my 2 cents.... another board on my radar for good hollow waves is the Lost Whiplash. Some of my friends swear by that board. Cheers...

Many thanks Noel for the great review.
I've been surfing the baby buggy SQUASH tail for the past 2 years.
I've seen great improvement in my surfing, it has helped me a lot.
I'm confident pumping and performing smooth cutbacks on 1-3ft messy mediterranean waves. Snaps are good but need imrpovement.
Do you think the same model as a ROUND tail would take me a bit further? or shall i stick to squash.
Thank again!
Cheers bud

Ardy Aryan - 6 years ago
thanks so much for the fast reply, I have the V3 Stealth and was wondering if this one would be more playful, I think i should have got a shorter board ( i got a 6'3) and it seems to be a bit hard to turn in the pocket in smaller waves.
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
Ardy Aryan The Baby Buggy Round Tail has more hold in my turns but it’s a little tighter. Round Tails offer more hold and drive through your turns. The V3 Stealth is a little looser and maybe a tad faster rail to rail but doesn’t hold the speed through the turns as good. However the V3 Stealth is easier to get loose and it’s a bit more playful.

Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
Dotan Paz I like something more neutral or upright. Because it’s a little low in rocker I want it to pivot quickly. FCSII I would Performers or HS PCC. Futures I would go Jack Freestone or HS1.

Great one Noel. I’m riding a 5,10 Stock dims baby buggy and i’m felling a lack of drive, at both bottom turn or trying to gain speed at a larger wave section... I tried k2.1, k3 and tc red line fins... the tc felt better at drive bur made the board really hard at the top. I’m 6’0 85kg, 30 liters board. Paddling feels ok, no trouble getting in the waves. Do you think the kolohe large fins will get me enough drive without sacrificing a loose feel at the top??
Fernando Lopes
Fernando Lopes - 6 years ago
Surf n Show Reviews I tried the tom carrol red line, that is a large fin and it gave me speed but sacrificed too much the release... tried k3 and it got mush.... Will try a larger fin with a different shape, Maybe I can get a better result.. thanks!

Fernando Lopes I suggest a fin like AM Large or Mick Fanning Large. More Rake will give you more speed. You are riding Large fins right?

Hey Noel, awesome review as usual. I've been recently comparing this board, the CI Sampler, and the JS Blak Box 2. Just to give you a run around on what I'm trying to compare them by is exactly with what you mentioned in the beginning of a performance board feel for average/less than average waves. I'm more biased towards CI and have boards that would fit I guess I'd just call it a groveler which would be like my High 5, a hybrid/all around rocket 9, my go to (Fred Rubble), And more Perfomrnace (DFR, Fever, and Black and White). Where I'm trying to fit in a board that feels like the more performance type but doesn't have the hefty volume like the High 5 and a little narrower than the rocket 9. I noticed in a lot of your reviews the other way to go about it is take your standard performance and put "groveler dims" on them which I thought about doing but was seeing if any of the three boards mentioned earlier (Sampler, Baby Buggy, and Blak Box 2) you think would fit just as well without having to shell out for another custom since I can typically find these boards in my dims stock as well as used. Also if you have any preference if the other technologies of these boards make a difference (lost carbon wrap, CI flex bar, and JS hyfi). Thanks again Brother!

Hey Noel any thoughts as to how the BB compares to the HS Untitled?
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
subluxeddesign The Round tail B.B. has more traction and drives through my turns a little different because of the tail design. Both boards are very fast and have a high performance feel to them. I think the Untitled paddles a little better. More foam under the chest.

Hi noel, really enjoy watching the reviews, finally about to buy a new board and looking at the lost carbon wrap boards. Looking for somewhat of an all around surfboard to surf waves between waist high up to occasional double over head but mostly around waist to head high. I cant decide between a baby buggy round with regular channels or a carbon wrap voodoo child. I know u did a review on both and was wondering what u thought between the 2 boards. From the review it looks like both can get into smaller waves but im not sure wich will be better when the waves get a bit bigger or punchier or I paddle out at honolua. Any help is really appreciated, thanks
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
MauiMax I really like the Baby Buggy Round tail over the Voodoo Child. But that’s because I am surfing So Cal point breaks a bunch. If I were surfing punchy reef break my board choice might look a little different. Baby Buggy Round tail can handle 6+ surf and go good in 2’ surf too. That’s what I would choose. Bigger than 6’ surf I would get off the EPS BB and get on a Lost Driver PU. Cheers

elb2018 The Fever in Spinetek would be epic and this BB CW is epic too. Both boards are user friendly and can go good for a front footed surfer. The squash tail on the BB will have more release. Sorry but I like both boards a ton and I cannot make your decision for you. Either board you will be stoked. Cheers

Hey Neil again, I am looking forward to getting a custom board for small to medium waves but cant decide what length I need... I am exactly 177,5cm and weigh 67kg! do you think the following dimensions 5'8x18 3/4 x2 1/4 are good for me? and is the length so important? is there a big differce If I get a 5.8, 5.9 or 5.10
Surf n Show Reviews
Surf n Show Reviews - 6 years ago
o' neil Seifert Not sure about the DIMS because I need to know what you have been riding and your skill level. If your current boards have liters on them please include that too. The length does matter on a board.... a longer board does matter and if your surfing 1-4’ waves then longer is not better from my perspective. I like my small wave a couple inches shorter than myself. I am 5’9” and my small wave performance boards are usually 5’6” or 5’7”. A shorter board fits better in a small wave when your turning in the pocket.

The BB suits your surfing alot Noel, very crisp and totally in the pocket. I have the BB in PU construction and I love it. I am an intermediate -advanced surfer (surfing 25 years +) and I went for a 5'11 (31L) and use it for everything. I'm 180cm and 72kg. I would go for a 5'10 next time as it has really raised my game and goes in everything from waist to overhead and holds a decent line in the hollow stuff. Hope that helps someone.

shortyyys Not really I think the B.B. has more rocker and it can handle bigger surf compared to the Sampler. On these Round tail B B I could push as hard as I wanted and these board gained speed.

Sergio De Anda Yewwww... this board has way more traction off the bottom compared to the Sampler. Both boards are EPIC!

Been waiting for this review! Another great review man keep up the great work. This board works great on the east coast as well. I ride the baby buggy and it's one of the best boards for our crap waves I've ever ridden. Thanks again for the review
