Lost RNF Retro Surfboard Review

Ian Reviews the Lost RNF Retro surfboard: https://www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/lost-surfboards?style=1944 At last, the long awaited Lost Round Nose Fish Retro has landed at Boardshop HQ and I for one (a lover of all things piscatorial) am very excited indeed! This latest incarnation of the iconic RNF seems to have perfectly melded elements of the more traditional 'twinnie' with modern rails, double side-cuts and a quad fin set-up for more scope and control. Snowboard influences are there for all to see with a double side-cut to help the wide tail (the widest yet in the RNF catalogue, 10" tip to tip!!) release and give it far better hold in steeper waves, and also allows the board to turn surprisingly sharply without the usual drift or sliding out often experienced with wide tail Fish shapes. This super wide tail promotes glide and along with the blistering speed makes light work of the flatter sections when they present. The retro feel is also reflected in the very flat rocker which helps the RNFR paddle like dream which in turn promotes early wave entry and heaps of down-the-line speed. The rails are steeply angled but softened into the bottom allowing the rider to bury the rail a little easier. All these features are built around the tried and tested RNF bottom contours and curves; flat up front with a slight single concave through the middle and a spiral vee from the fins back. Fast and precise with a predictable and stable feel and loads of glide. The RNF Retro is designed to be ridden as a quad. Keel fins are fast and fun but lack the control of the brilliant split-keels this board was designed to work with. You can also ride the RNFR with a set of twins and a pair of smaller trailer fins in the rear boxes. This beautiful little board is going to appeal to a pretty wide range of riders. Depending on how you size your RNF Retro it'll perform well for pretty much any size and ability of rider apart from the 'brand new' beginner. Larger guys and girls and intermediate surfers are going to enjoy the bigger sizes say 5ft 11 and bigger and the more experienced riders are going to love the board on those smaller days of summer.
