Hi, just wondering how this compares to the pj epoxy carbon? I'm looking for something that will work in really fat waves, and really stormy waves with some pocket (not barrelling) waist to head and a halfish. I had the above pj, but it didn't excel in the full onshore stormies we surf here in adelaide south aus. I want something that I can still go top to bottom on, but higher volume that's not too long, but fits inbetween a mal, and shortboard. Im thinking a chumlee, a pu puddle jumper with a bit more foam than the one I had, or a cab sav or something like this or the couch potato. Any ideas? Im 105kg, 185cm, in my 40's but still surf ok. Cheers phill

Hi im a 56 peruvian surfer, love to surf small to doble head surf. My weight with wetsuit on is aprox 190 lbs. I would like to buy a Lazy Boy. What size you recomend for me? Thanks for your answer.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 6 years ago
Hey Luis, If you really start loving short boards you will want to size down in the future but for now, to provide similar paddle power to you longboard I recommend a 6'6. Another good option would be the Lost EZ Up, it is a LayZboy step up with more rocker, a round tail, and more foiled rails that hold better when you oversize the board. http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/lost/ezup

REAL Watersports im an intermediate surfer. I've been surfing the last months in a Herbie Fletcher-Tommy Witt model 9.1" longboard and it paddles so good and gets off the bottom so well. I dont want to loose the paddle but would like to surf in a shorter board!

Hey Luis, Thanks for writing in. What is your skill level and what other boards have you been surfing? I will be able to provide a better recommendation with this info. Cheers, Ashlon

Yellow what is the difference between this and the RV. What do you think is better for 1-4ft waves with occasional overheads.
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 7 years ago
Hey Gesman5000, The LayZboy and RV cover a similar wave range but ride it differently. The LayZboy likes to make more drawn out carves and it has a wider sweet spot, while the RV makes tighter axis turns. What boards have you been riding, where are you surfing, and what is your skill level? This will help us make a better recommendation.

I have a question if you see this. Been watching a bunch of your videos and I'm really liking two boards..... A Little about myself, I am 6' tall, 180lbs, and ride a noserider and performance longboard. I can hang 5s and 10s and whip the performance board pretty well... Lately been wanting to try to get good at shortboarding, I can definitely surf so I'm looking for something I can whip around on but also pretty stable and paddles easily... I'm torn between this Lost LazyBoy and the Lost Puddle Jumper with the rounded pin tail
What do you think?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

REAL Watersports Thanks for the reply again, some great information. I ended up picking up a 6'0 puddle jumper RP... Really like that tail more than the original shape. Can't wait to surf it this week in Jersey. I have it set up as a quad with the little nub fin in the middle to start with.
Keep up the board reviews, I enjoy watching them
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 7 years ago
The LayZboy will still make very different turns than your Longboards. The cool thing about the LayZboy is you can ride it from anywhere, the whole board is the sweet spot so you can get all styled out on it, cheating 5's etc... The Puddle Jumper rides more similar to a high performance shortboard than any other groveler, it makes quick turns and really likes to ride on rail. The LayZboy and RV can be pushed into bigger (overhead) surf, but the Puddle Jumpers all out speed makes it hard to control in big surf but really fun when it's small. Hope this helps - Ashlon

REAL Watersports REAL Watersports Hey thanks for the quick response! I'm actually trying to get away from the longboard feel and want to try to get good at sharp turns on a shortboard.... Now I been watching reviews on the lost RV and thinking about a 6'2 or 6'4.... It'll have the float and paddle I need but a little more performance ...I'm thinking between the RV and puddle jumper now

You do great reviews btw
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 7 years ago
Hey Mr. Nick, Thanks for writing in. Between these two, we recommend the LayZboy. The bottom shape and outline make it easier to surf with a wider sweet spot than the Puddle Jumper. The LayZboy likes to make longer carves which will feel more familiar coming from your longboard, while the Puddle Jumper's deep single concave makes it like to ride more on rail while making quick pivotal turns more similar to a high-performance shortboard. For an easier transition and a really fun board, go with the LayZboy. Check out our selection here: http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/lost/layzboy Hope this helps - Ashlon

Is this a good second surfboard?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 7 years ago
Hey Cole, The LayZtoy makes an excellent shape to step down from a longboard and onto a short board, if you already ride short boards it is a great board to have in your quiver for just about any conditions. It is super stable, paddles incredible, and is a blast to ride.

I already decide it i'm going to get this board, but I'm not sure which measure get if i'm 5'7 ft, and 163 pounds, I have few experience surfing, catching mushy waves and white water from big waves.

@Masonmaddo They LayZBoy has been working great with Futures Lost Seaworthy Quads or Futures Controllers. When you get into the smaller sizes the board also works really well with traditional size Large quads or thruster setups.
When you purchase a LayZBoy from www.realwatersports.com, the larger sizes will include stock plastic Controllers + TMF trailer fin, and the smaller sizes will include stock plastic 5-fin sets.

Hope this helps! -Chris Stellato @REAL Watersports

Hi and thanks for the great review! I'm looking for an all-around surfboard for an extensive surftrip to mexico. So I was wondering if the LayZBoy would be a good choice, or if there are better boards for that purpose. Also I'm not sure about which size and volume I should get. I'm 5'11'' and 170 lbs and an intermediate surfer. I was thinking about a 5'10 LayZBoy, but I'm not sure if I can duckdive that 37 liters with my weight properly. I would go shorter, but I was told that a board gets really hard to paddle, when it's to short. Thanks a lot in advance!!
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 9 years ago
@Doni K  The LayZBoy is a great all-arounder.  The rounded nose setup gives a ton of paddle power and wave catching is easy.  You say "intermediate surfer" so if you're not doing critical drops and vertical turns yet, so there's not much need for you to have a pointier/more aggressive board just yet.  32-34 liters volume should be the right size for you so go with the 5'8 or 5'9 lazyboy and you'll have a great time.  http://www.realwatersports.com/surfing/surfboards/lost/layzboy
Hope this helps! -Chris @REAL Watersports

Just got one!  I'm 5'8" and 145lbs and got a 5'7" (32L).  Off the rack, but seems to be custom dimensions.  It's definitely an easy board to surf.  I'm new to shorter boards and it wasn't a big adjustment (riding a 6'2" hybrid for past 6 months).  Caught and popped up on the first wave. Perfect for beginners and as a small wave/high tide board.  I'm also 44, so it's a good board for us "domesticated" surfers. If I didn't live in CA, I'd have gotten one from Real Watersports.  The reviews are helpful, plus they've got some Lazy Boys with great paint jobs.

In the last vacations i try to surf on a big board. My question ist the Lost LayZBoy in 6.8 a good beginner board? Or which sice should i take? I'm 5'7 and 121,2 lbs.

Thank you guys :D
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 9 years ago
@Da Skate A LayZBoy 6'8" has a great amount of foam and float.  This will help you catch waves easier and be more stable when you stand up.  At 121 lbs. you could even go a bit smaller and be successful.  As a 121lb beginner surfer, most hybrid style boards with at least 32L of float will work great for you. For the Lost RV, something in the 5'9" - 6'0" range (stock dimensions) would suit you nicely.

Hey guys one more question haha how would this compare to the Channel Islands biscuits? Thank you:)
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 9 years ago
@ScottScott75 Thanks for your question!  The LayZBoy and Biscuit have some similarities but also important differences.  The LayZBoy has more tail rocker (the Biscuit has almost none) and more nose rocker too.  The LayZBoy also has a slightly different tail shape, it gives a bit of a break in the rail and isn't completely round like the Biscuit.  Both boards can handle some solid surf when under the feet of a skilled surfer, but in my opinion the LayZBoy will have a bit more top-end ability when the waves get bigger / punchier due to the extra rocker.  LayZBoy will also be able to go a bit more vertical when the situation calls for it.  The LayZBoy can be your grovel board or a board for average-good surf depending on how you size it and the volume you choose.

Hope this helps!  Contact the REAL Pros for more info: realwatersports.com/contact

Hey great review! Just curious I'm stepping off of a soft top board and want to get a beginner short board. I'm 5'11 and 195 I was wondering if a 6'2 lazyboy would fit me well. Thank you
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 9 years ago
@ScottScott75 The 6'2" LayZBoy would be a great choice for your weight and skill level.  At approx 44 liters, it has ample float and paddle power but will still allow you to progress your surfing now that you've graduated from the softy.  The LayZBoy is also a very user friendly shape with a huge sweet spot so well suited for your needs.

Hey im 5,9" and 215lbs coming down from a long board.  Was wondering what size you recommend.  I tried my buddies 6'8" that had about 44 volume and I was able to catch a wave but felt like i might benefit from a little more foam.  Do you think I could get away with a 6'2 or a 6'4 or do you think I would be better off going 6'6 as this will be my first short board.. any info would help. Thanks again and I love your videos.  Also ,, would there be a benefit to going with the c3 cork?

Helpful review! How would you compare this board with the CIS Average Joe?
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 10 years ago
@Ferdinand Arcinue The Average Joe has a defined "hip" which will make it a little more maneuverable. The Layzboy by contrast has a more round outline which gives it a bigger sweet spot (you can stand anywhere you like on the board) and allows you to surf it in slightly bigger surf too. Hope that helps. Feel free to contact one of our REAL Pros for more info. realwatersports.com/contact

Lazyboy, Bottom feeder or RV. What would you recommend of these boards for a beginner? Im 6'1 and 170lbs..
REAL Watersports
REAL Watersports - 10 years ago
@rasmus The layzboy is the easiest to surf of the three because you can surf it with your feet anywhere on the board... RV and bottom feeder will definitely benefit from having your feet in the right place. The Layzboy can also be surfed in a wide range of conditions!! Hope that helps. Got that board before the summer and love it. Used it around Santa Cruz many times, in small to 5 feet waves and always great, easy to do good turns, and just enjoying the ride. I took it 5'10 and I like it this way (almost got a 6'0 and glad I didn't), and I'm 6'1 tall for almost 200 lbs. To compare, my regular short-board is a CI Fred Rubble 6'4, summer one is my 6'2 Lost Sub-driver, and this LayZ Boy to have fun and more flotation in the crowded summer spots.
