Hey Trip, If you could pick one board for so cal surf for 3-6 feet would you go voodoo child or uber driver? Also how do the carbon wraps hold up?

The Voodoo will still make a good turn off of the back foot, check out Mason Ho surfing it. Front footed surfers have been having a blast on the Voodoo Child.

I'd go with the Voodoo Child, it still turns well from the tail but suits front footed surfers really well and carries speed really well.

Thanks Ashlon, so if I'm more of a front/neutral footed surfer, you'd say voodoo child is the one to go with? still want to be able to drive off the back foot during a cutback, but it seems like that will be fine given the foam distribution.

Hey Joshua, thanks for writing in. The Carbon Wrap's hold up really well, they are more resistant to dents and dings than a PU/Poly but are not indestructible. As for which board, both would work but it depends on how you surf to decide which is better for you. The Voodoo has exagerated tail rocker with a more relaxed nose rocker for drive off of the front foot and paddle power. The Uber Driver has lower tail rocker and higher nose rocker for more drive off of the tail, catering to a more back footed surfer. Cheers - Ashlon

This is a common question, both have strength and weaknesses. The Carbon Wrap Technology is lightweight, fast, rebounds out of the water rapidly, and flexes torsionally for extra speed out of turns. The Carbon Wrap tech is great for small surf or waves where you need to build your own speed. PU is smoother through the water, cuts through chop easier, and feels more stable at speed. If you are surfing in bigger, stronger waves most surfers prefer PU over an alternative construction like Carbon Wrap.

What were the dimensions on this board? Is that your board? What do ride?

The 6'4 21 2.82 VC I'm looking at is 40.7, you sure those dims are correct?

I like trips reviews.. but like one of the other comments I thought it was better in the shop! I've found the quiver killer puddlefish review to be really good because he spent fair bit of time talking about his own experience on those boards..

Thanks Craig, although we're shooting in the studio we are still in the shop, just behind the board loft. Our summer traffic makes shooting board reviews difficult in the loft so we created the studio setting to enable us to produce more reviews. You may see us back in the loft this winter, but until then we hope you continue to enjoy our reviews and keep up the stoke! - Ashlon

Got to say one of the good things about the reviews past was the authentic feel you get watching the review like I was actually there in the locker with you.. now it seems staged and a little uncomfortable.. just like any other review.

Thanks for your feedback and also for following our reviews!

Our move to the new review set was more from necessity than choice. The board loft has been busy over the spring and summer, making it tough to film the reviews. We moved to this set (located about 75ft from where I normally stand) to be able to shoot the reviews with no interruptions and increase the number of reviews we can produce for our followers.

The byproduct of this move is the boards are easier to see and follow the shape with a plain black background. Our philosophy of surfing every board in a variety of conditions before we review them remains unchanged.

You may see us back in the REAL Boardloft during the winter months when we don't have as many people rolling through the shop.
