Lost Pro-Formance "Driver" Surfboard Review by Noel Salas Ep. 43

This surfboard review is on the Lost "Driver" surfboard. The Driver was originally launched in 2010-2011 and became a favorite amongst Lost team riders and surfers around the world. The main purpose for the release of the Driver in 2017 was to give the surf community the opportunity to purchase a board off the rack in surf shops with the same glass lay up as the Lost Pro team riders. With this option the boards are lighter, more responsive, and better flex. The one major draw back to this Pro-formance glass job is they don't last as long. I ordered two Drivers with the exact same DIMS in two different constructions. My thoughts around this were to see how the Driver performs in small waves with the Carbon Wrap EPS/Epoxy construction compared to the PU/Polyester Resin. Throughout the entire review I switched off riding them both but in the end I gravitated towards the PU/Poly as a favorite for this board review in 2-6' surf. I will say that the Driver is one of new favorites for 2017 and I recommend this board for surfers in the intermediate to advanced skill levels. This board is user friendly, very fast and responsive, and it has great flow too.
If the Grovelers have a Hybrid nose with a lot of foam under the chest and front foot then I like them really short and volume roughly 25-26. If I get them too long all that foam and area up front messes with swing weight and it dictates how the board surfs for me.
How did you find the thickness? I noticed you rode this board slightly thinner than most other hpsb’s.
Did this have a similar feel and “push back” to your usual dimension?
For a point of comparison I ride a fever at 2 7/16. Do you think a 2 3/8 driver would be similar?

The "carbon wrap" that are sold in stores has the same construction as those used by professional surfers? Do not they use a lighter, more flexible construction in carbon wraps too?
5’7” x 19 x 2 5/16 or (2 3/8) don’t go too Wide on these models. I would get the Driver in Carbon Wrap and the Fever in Spine-Tek.
Thanks for the reply!
So you're saying the "bro dims" comes with a thicker glass job?
They don't make any pro dims with a standard glass job
A CI or JS with the same performance glass job would be just as pressure dented and damaged. I hope this answers your question.

In the JS I would go Monsta 6 in PU. Merry Christmas!!!
What fins are you using with the Driver you have right now?
The JS Monsta Box in HYFI i only recommend in 2-4 surf... it is not made for bigger waves.
My board suggestions for you are this...
1. Lost Driver in PU with a stronger glass job.
2. JS Air 17 in PU or Monsta 6 in PU.
I have a 5'11'' quite thin, 25 liter board shaped by Matt Biolos and I was wondering since I already have fairly good surfing skills I'm trying to go for airs more often but I tend to "chicken out" mainly because of my fear of breaking such a fragile board as I've landed on the couple of hard floaters in the past and got pretty scared because of the board. As you can see I really like this board. Any tips or advice?
Also, great job here as always!

Would like to know the difference with the Mini-Driver!! Really interesting!!
I would like to try one but I think this Driver went mental even in the small waves.
