The car engine in a car is far more advanced, huge, and powerful compared to one small pathetic outboard.
Outboard motors are ridiculously priced too.
Car has at least 4 upholstered seats with seat belts, adjustable boat usually one or two shit seats.
Car has air conditioning, 5 tires, radio, power windows...boat has a chilibin with a squad and one average seat- sure...it is covered with a plastic waterproof cover- big deal.
I accept that a couple of things on the boat should cost slightly more- but they are basically aluminum which is a very cheap metal.
All the gadgets like radio and fishfinder probably cost a few thousand.
I think a fair price for a boat like that is 20k including the motor and trailer.
Completely ridiculous price. Boats shouldn't cost more than cars.
Had a new BlueWave 19" center console with 130 Johnson in 1997 and it cost $8000 brand new.

I've taken my 14 ft jonboat with a 4hp Yamaha as much as 2 miles offshore from the inlet. That's with 2 drunks and a large dog and a charcoal grill.

I agree that he is an excellent boatie and fisherman, I admire his accomplishments. But from lots of experience with those things I feel that it's going to cause more issues than it will solve for him.

I had that exact issue with my old motor with the hydrofoil, took it off and now it trolls lures beautifully. Plus with a 2 stroke it will push the boat onto the plane quickly. I will not be surprised to see it removed, I hate being critical but for the kind of fishing Matt does they're absolutely terrible.
All those hydrofoils are good for is providing lift at low speeds for boats which are heavy in the arse at and that boat doesn't act like that, if anything it will make the hull skittish at speed - especially an aluminum boat. So all the benefits of it are gone and now he has to deal with the drawbacks.
I'd be interested to see how much better the boat handles without it.
