I like the fact that Playmobil is releasing all those soldier sets. Now the pirates have other enemies to fight, and not only other pirates. Would you say they're french soldiers?

This looks like a great starter set to give to a child getting into the world of playmobil pirates. I think it should capture a child's imagination just as much as a larger more expensive pirate ship .

The flag pole issue - if you put it on before the sail you can just clip it into the holding clip from the front.The ridge goes under the clip and will keep the pole from pulling out if pulled from the top. Your problem Jang was trying to go down from the top rather than from the front. Cutting shouldn't be necessary. Great review of a nice little set. The figures in this one are really great, especially that they are Navy guys rather than pirates. Your pirates have to have somebody to fight against.

Yep yep, clips right in, no problem there. Problem was between the pole and the mast -- just couldn't go far enough in to hold itself in place. Thanks for trying to help diagnose this though!

@JANGmobil First I don't actually have this specific model, and don't have that yard on hand to compare so if this doesn't actually work that's my fault for making an assumption. One side of the yard shows a hole and the other side has a clip, I am saying that it looks to me like you should be able to put the flagpole into the clip horizontally rather than from the top - like you would attach any LEGO clip to a rod.

Hmm, I'm not sure I follow. Clipping the yard to the flag pole was no issue. My problem was that the pole wouldn't stay anchored in the mast, because it would only go about 3mm down into the hole in the top of the mast, because the ridge then stopped it. With the rounded bottom of the pole piece, it would just bend over & fall right back out. Does that make sense? By all means I'm open to correction!

What is great about Playmobil is that they do a fair amount of "history" sets/themes which is really great for kids to add to their learning/schooling. WE have some of their Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt sets, Medieval and Pirates, plus Western is great, too! Lego doesn't quite measure up in this regard, despite their "Castle" theme, generally speaking. I also wish that some of the Playmobil sets that are available in Germany were available in the USA for little sets like St. Martin & St. Nikolaus (which is today! YAY!). Thanks for this review! Some Pirate sets will be in our future as that topic will be studied in school, so a nice added "play to learn"!

Am I the only one who finds the blank state on the figures a little creepy? These sets would be soooo much cooler with more realistic/expressive figures.
