420 Renegade Side Console – from Brisbane Yamaha. If you love your fishing you’re going to love Quintrex’s new 420 Renegade from Brisbane Yamaha. The smallest of the Renegade range, it packs a punch with its affordability and roomy cockpit, complete with a front and rear casting platform. And for a compact boat it packs in heaps of built in extras which are all part of the standard boat motor and trailer package from Brisbane Yamaha. Measuring 4.2m (14ft) it features Quintrex’s new blade hull and plate sides. This hull is designed to get you up on the plane with the minimum horsepower and also divert the spray away from the hull giving you a smooth dry ride in choppy conditions or in semi-open water. The 420 Renegade has a wide beam (2.06m) which gives plenty of room for throwing out cast nets or lures and also for those of us who are looking for more room when moving around the boat. The first thing you’ll notice when you’re on the water is how smoothly the boat gets up onto the plane and how effortlessly the 40hp four-stroke Yamaha gets it going. Although this boat is rated to a maximum 50hp, you’ll find that the 40hp Yamaha gives you the best of both worlds – performance by way of the Vee-entry bow and economy due to its compact size. This model is also available as a tiller steer. The 420 Renegade has a very functional side console which gives you a neat and comfy helm position and allows the cockpit to be clear. There is ample storage so it feels uncluttered when you’re fishing with the kids or a few mates. At the rear you’ll find the raised casting deck with storage underneath - set up for the fishermen in mind as it also accommodates storage for your bait boards, knives and other gear. It includes a plumbed live bait well, battery and box with isolation switch and fuel tank, filter and water separator. At the front is a raised casting deck with a huge storage underneath. At the centre of the cockpit is a large plumbed fish well or esky and additional storage on either side for all your safety gear and tackle boxes. There is also a storage box for a second battery if you want to run an electric engine. There’s an anchor well at the bow and full length raised side pockets which keep all your tackle trays and gear out of the way but still accessible when the fish are on the bite. The side console with windscreen offers protection from the wind and there’s room under the driver’s seat to slide the spare esky. Other features include a carpeted floor, low bow and stern handrails and a transom step and rail as standard making it a breeze to board. It’s easy to see why the Quintrex Renegade range from Brisbane Yamaha is fast becoming a favourite among keen fisherman as a no-fuss fishing machine.
