I agree with all the users who are reporting problems. I have to reset the modem each day because it drops the wireless. I do have the IP Flood Detection box 'unchecked' as mentioned too...I would NOT recommend buying this product

I had this issue before. I eventually called my Cable company "Comcast" and asked for an update. They forced an update to my modem and fixed the issues that I was having.

If it is the button that I think you are talking about it is on the front of the Modem.

I got this modem. It was really easy to setup and so far no problems.. Thanks for your review it confirmed my purchase. No wifi drops so far...

I had a lot of problems with this modem, including losing a lot of data because of reinstalling my computer because I didn't know what the problem was. It didn't behave correctly on the internet, so I thought it was a virus. I took it back to Best Buy and they gave me a replacement. This time it had updated software and it worked fine--for about six months. Now it's acting up again. WiFi problems. Has to daily be reset. Won't buy another one.

Hi: can you help me to get the WIFI working ? The wired works fine, while the WIFI light is on & flashing but my laptops detected NO signal. I even loaded CD on my lap top. And also try the WPS button to no avail ! Please kindly help. Thanks

ask them to disable the internet modem part on the old one so only the telephone lines will be the only ones used. and tell them you would like to activate a new modem and that should work. Im not 100% sure they will do this but I believe they will.

I have this connected via Ethernet with my iMac. Wireless I have my ipad and Apple TV as well as my girlfriend uses her Android phone and I use my iPhone. I am a comcast subscriber and get like 35-40Mpbs on the iMac at times and always over the advertised 20 and wireless I get super fast speeds also, just hit 38+ with my iPhone while typing this. No problems thus far. I don't get why anyone would have a router hooked up with this unit...

I agree. This modem/router is a little buggy, change one setting and it disables everything. I have recently hardwired most of my computers. I love the 1gb/s connection for my local file transfers.

The range isn't fantastic, but I'm not surprised. But when I disable the wireless AP on this, it really messes with my router I plugged into this one. Turn the Wireless on, then it works fine again. Annoying, but I can live with it. But after looking for awhile now, I can't change the DNS server. Motorola makes good consumer modems, but this one is a bit annoying. Leave it to TW to give me it too.

Techno i need ur help lol my sgb6580 is great but the modem keeps disconecting front internet constantly due to not being able to find dns and none of my devices are being supported by it and the wifi changed before i added my own name and password and doesnt work please help i love u thanks

Where do I find my username and password to enter for motorolla login? Help, can't get online but the IP adress did work

Make sure that you have ip flood protection disabled in the Firewall section. This fixed my issue.

I love this modem. When I was getting the 50MB plan I was actually getting 60mb+ but I noticed that the Wireless was only allowing me to receive 1/2 of that. I do not know why. So if you have speeds roughly 40 and bellow this would make a Great wireless Router and Modem. It works Great over Wired Connection.

I have tested this out by activating IP FLOOD PROTECTION and Deactivating it. I noticed that when I enabled it, it caused the connection issues that everyone seems to have. Also for some reason this modem also has the address 192.168.0.1 Thank you Derek

I think this might help: Open your webrowser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc) and type in the modem address 192.168.100.1 then enter your username-- admin and password-- motorola and hit login button.Click on FIREWALL tab, locate the IP FLOOD DETECTION checkbox and UNTICK IT (remove the checkmark) then click on the APPLY button. I am about to get this modem, would appreciate a response if it helped anything, I hear this stops the disconnect issues.

LMAO!!! hahahahahahahah SO funny, increased your internet speed? LMAO! You WILL only get what you pay for. If your getting faster than what you pay for Comcast will cap your bandwidth. And The wireless sucks! I use this modem and am looking for tips on how to stop all the dropped sign issues I and everyone I know is having with this modem. What a joke of a review.

I installed this modem three days ago. There are several things that i have not liked: a) It drops from the internet with no reason while my internet is clearly working. (I have streaming TV and VOIP phone). b) Wireless coverage is not that great. I live in a 1400sq ft apartment and signal strength drops from one end to the next. You didn't mention anything about the Pairing button. Now that i think was cool... Xavier

Great review! How has this modem/router combo held up? Do you like the router function? Is coverage decent?

@jamaximum well my speed works great still, but for some reason almost everyday it will get booted off of comcast with then i have to reboot it for it to reconnect. then it only likes being connected to one computer because it mixes up the ip's and causes it to crash. That is the only thing that i do not like. EVERYDAY it has to be rebooted. I do not suggest this modem anymore

@MotivationalMama I think I was dehydrated that day. I do not really remember lol. Thank you. Now this modem was acting up not doing the IP addresses correct and not giving internet to the wifi devices. I have to use another Wireless router connected via Ethernet to this modem. I do not know if it was because of Comcast or a setting that I changed in it. I need to restore the factory setting just have not had the time. Let me know what you think of yours after you use it for a while.

good review. i like that you mentioned it made your service better then before. i just got my internet set up by the local cable company and that is the modem they use. ps. are you sick in this video? you seemed like you where ready to vomit a couple times.
